Before you get all worked up, I need to get a laptop and I want to game occasionally. Will this laptop (Notebook Lenovo IdeaPad Legion Y520) with these specs:
- Intel Core i5-7300HQ up to 3.50GHz - 8GB DDR4 - 1TB HDD+128GB SSD - NVIDIA GTX1050 4GB (NOT the Ti version)
be able to run The Witcher 3 on at least medium?
Carter Martin
Why don't you just, you know, download a pirate copy and see if it runs or not?
Ayden Gutierrez
Yes, not even a challenge. With some settings at High even; mostly Mediums would get you quite solid 60fps. However, AFAIK, they do not make 4GB versions of 1050.
Jace Wood
this is the kind of shitter that posts on Sup Forums that thinks hes apart of the pc masterrace
Camden White
apparently a youtube search and subtracting 10-15% from the framerate is too much
Anthony Thomas
There actually do exist 4GB versions of the 1050 exclusively for the laptops and there's the "Ti" versions as well but I'm not sure if Lenovo Legions are equipped with the former?

>start witcher 1 >witcher series goes on sale >"itll probably be ages before i finish the first two games, no need to buy 3 now" >finish both games 2 days ago >
Ethan Nguyen
It's more than enough. Even with some of the settings set in high you'll probably still be in 40-60ish fps
Samuel Collins
And this is an angry autist who cares about things that dont matter
Henry Ortiz
It should run fine with those specs. The game is pretty optimized. It was a disaster at launch but runs really smooth and light at this point.

>need to get laptop >download a pirate copy
BRAVO

>be able to run The Witcher 3 on at least medium? considering I could run the game with i5 2500 @ 3.3ghz, 8GB DDR3 and GTX 560ti 1GB, at 1080p & ~Medium settings (Flex and such off) and get > 30fps at all times, yeah.
Not to mention on a tiny laptop screen, even 900p & 768p would still look fine to serviceable, and increase fps tremendously.
Chase Davis
OP was actually pretty humble and straightforward, where is your rage stemming from?

3 is alot fucking longer I'll tell you that
Daniel Cook
I think you'll be fine. I played it on a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (i5 6300HQ and GTX 960m) and was able to play it in mid graphics at 1080p, which looks pretty damn good desu

Will I be able to run at medium on my computer at >40 1080p? Ryzen 7 1700 8GB RAM RX 570 4GB
Evan Cruz
>amd No

Thank you my dudes
Joshua Rogers
Don't buy 1700 and low-mid end GPU, you retard. Get 1600 or 1600x and a decent GPU. You also need a pretty fast ram to properly utilize Ryzen, even moreso with 1700, so if you're buying Ryzen don't cheap out on it too.
Hunter Fisher
I got the 1700 for cheap. Is the RX 570 bad? I'm just waiting for the 2080
Jeremiah Martinez
I can run TW3 on a GTX 760m and i7 4700, with some heavy overclocking. You'll be just fine with what you've got user.
Does the laptop at least have upgradeable RAM? 8 GB in current year is a little silly desu.
Parker King
570 is fine for a budget build. Although I would personally wait for Volta, I'm not sure when it will be out, but probably within a year, or even half a year. Since you're waiting for 2080 you probably have the money, 570 might be a decent choice to buy for a while while you wait. There are 2 issues though: 1) You will need to sell 570 later, which is not really an issue, but still 2) AMD GPUs are grossly overpriced right now due to miners. Funny enough, it's usually cheaper to buy 1060, which is a 580 rival, than buying 570.
Thomas Parker
>570 is fine if ur poor I've only played 1 or 2 games I couldn't max at 1080p that don't hit 60
Ethan Fisher
>1080p That's so 2011.
Connor Scott
I have a Samsung Odyssey.
It'll run on Medium-Low
Isaac Rogers
I run Witcher 3 on my Y700 with GTX 960M 4GB installed and it was alright. You have nothing to worry about.
