third book is on the way, lads!

>Hyrule Historia and Art & Artifacts covered the history, art and culture of the first 30 years of The Legend of Zelda. The Legend of Zelda Encylopdia covers everything else. bump

Isn't Encyclopedia the one that retcons half of Historia and turns Majora's Mask into a dream?

Reminder that this book retcons Termina to be a metaphor for Skull Kid's depression, even in the Jap version

Yes

yes. But official is official. Aonuma gives it validity.

autism.

this is as bad as reading Warcraft novels

>No new art
>Still no breath of the wild artbook

Meh, pass

Ah, just boring shit nobody cares about like the Historia.

I got my Art book, that's all I wanted.

Shit. Doesn't it also separate LttP/LA/Oracles Link into different Links?

Hyrule Historia is the only book in videogame history to have memeworthy anecdotes and infographs. That timeline that came from the Hyrule Historia is the sole material of every Zelda timeline shitposter's ammunition.

Guess what?
Encyclopedia changes that timeline and has one of it's own.

>the only book in video game history to have memeworthy material

What about Movie Blob's book? Or the FF9 strategy guide?

Wish I downloaded Historia instead of buying it. Over half the book was Shitward Sword garbage and they barely gave more than a page to games like Zelda II or the GB/GBC games.

kill yourself

He's not wrong though.

YES!

>Rock

...

Majoras Mask is a dream now?

ALttP and LA have the same Link. The new book states that the Oracle games have a different Link and that both games take place after LA but before ALBW

Yeah, rocks fall in Zelda 1 when you explore areas near Death Mountain. They'd do a similar thing in LttP.

The zelda mythos and time line will never not be retarded

I am aware

What I'm trying to figure is why someone felt the need to illustrate a rock

>fedora's mask is retconned

top kek

masters of doom as well

>How is this surprising to anyone? That's the only explanation for Termina being the way it is.

How can they feel okay with publishing these books as part of a set of sorts if two of them contradict each other?

And what's wrong with it being a dream? Link's Awakening was nothing more than a dream, didn't make it any less real (or if you got 100% completion, made it real).

...

Back then they described and gave pictures for virtually every enemy in the instruction manuals.

>itt people thinking their furry fanfic has more clout than official books

Lol

>Encyclopedia changes that timeline and has one of it's own.

Oh great. Now what is the new retcon? I kind of liked the three timeline split theory.

this face just gets more and more deflated every time i see it.

>Taking Zelda´s franchise story as a whole
Why are they trying to disrespect it´s own son this hard?

It makes sense but it also kind of cheapens MM. Its now officially not part of the timeline because it’s only a dream game. Just OoT Link dropping some acid and imagining all of MM.

And again, what's wrong with it being a dream? Link's Awakening shows that even dreams are deadly, and under certain circumstances, can even become real.

Because it has the most interesting story and setting of any Zelda game, and now it didn't happen.

>mfw that one artbook you'll never get because it's too rare/expensive now

It just feels like a kick in the balls. Like when we find out Big Boss in MGSV is not really THE Big Boss, just someone pretending to be him. It just feels like a slap in the face of fans.

I might be exaggerating here, and I’m not really upset about this, but it just how it feels to me.

But it did happen. Just because it was a dream does not change the fact that Link experienced and remembered it, and he saved someone. Isn't that enough?

Sounds better than the art one. Sweet.

A dev trying to add canon outside of the game does not count. It's like rewriting history. These books are really wonderful given all the art and stuff, but anything else should be taken with a grain of salt.

It's like Harry Potter. Years after it was finished, rowling decided "ehh dumbledor was actually gay". Well sorry, if it wasn't in the book, it's not canon. Same with her trying to change Hermione to black (although in the book it actually describes her as white).

Really don't take these things too seriously. Art is to be interpreted to the viewer

>and he saved someone. Isn't that enough?

He didn’t really save anyone though, since it was a dream.

I guess Tatl is a fake companion now, too. Never existed.

>you can't generate faces in your dreams
>your Subconscious can only manifest faces you've seen!!!

He saved Skull Kid from the mask as well as cured him of his depression. It might not mean much to the world at large, but to Skull Kid, Link saved him when no one else could, which is really all that matters to someone like Link.

in a dream. Therefore, he saved no one and skull kid is still depressed.

Maybe we shouldn't take all this timeline stuff too seriously.

Even if you somehow didn't think Link can cured him of his depression after delving deep into his mind and fixing everything, you still have to agree that at the very least, he saved Skull Kid from the mask and purged the mask of its evilness, saving anyone else in the future who will have contact with it.

I can only see info on this release date from Kotaku but they don't provide a source. Anyone find anything?

That one is next actually. zelda.gamepedia.com/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Breath_of_the_Wild_Master_Works

>Both best Zelda games are dreams
This is okay

How do they get such high quality scans of that old art? Did they have them stored somewhere since the 80s?

They're more than likely touched up

Only thing it changes is putting the Oracle games after Link's Awakening. It fixes a gaping error on Capcom's part where in the Oracle games, Zelda acts like she's meeting Link for the first time, which wouldn't make since if it was the same Link from A Link to the Past.

>kotaku
nice source there faggot

I literally looked up zelda encyclopedia and it was the only news source that came up, use your fucking brain

Now i have a big urge to sell my Hyrule Historia copy. Only my brother gave it to me for my birthday so i feel uneasy about it.

I think all the coffee table books are going to look real nice together. I'm excited for Master Works, the fourth one, to come out so I can put them all together on a shelf.
