Starting a fun thread about talking about anything Xenoblade but most likely focus on 2. Anyone just waiting for the long wait for the next Twitter post?
Xenoblade Thread
>Gramps is literally going to be Tatsu 2.0
Shit. I hope he has the same VA as in his titan form at least. If it's a relaxing voice trying to be annoying that might work, or at least be bearable.
Who /SE/ here?
I'm not even sure if Sean Barrett is physically capable of being loud enough to be annoying.
Ordered my even before I ordered my Switch. Would like the Pro controller but didn't want to spend an extra $70 for another Pro controller.
Agreed. Id like that pro contriller but i already have one. No need for a colored one. I would probably get tired of that pink real quick anyways.
Think I would be fine with the color. I just hate how costly everything is outside of the main system. Like how much the Pro and Joy-Cons are.
>Based NOE heard the Japanese Gramps voice
>Realized this character was basically going to be your team mascot and thus naturally have a lot of annoying dialogue
>Hire a voice actor with one of the most soothing voices in the entire VA gaming industry to voice him instead
Thank you NoE.
Seem they heard it was going to be a anime grandpa and decided to just have a fun happy grandpa than the funny eccentric grandpa which most anime have.
So Gramps is a 77 year old man with a pretty big body of work voicing in audiobooks, British TV shows, and anime movies among other things, but I can't find anything about him doing any video games except these guys in Dark Souls.

>77
Holy shit. Based Sean. What a trooper.
>Gramps is literally going to be Tatsu 2.0
Not if he's Dickson 2.0
Yep. And I don't even have a Switch nor do I really plan on getting one any time soon.
I want to fuck that Titan.
This cat hisses at you. What do?
Cum on cat
Not buying until they fix those faggot ass pants.

playing XC1 now. Just got to the area before the mechanis capital, in the chest. getting kinda burned out. is the ending worth it?
Ordered it and the controller before I did my Switch.
Pokken and MK8D will tide me over a month until December.
It is but theres still a good bit to go. Maybe you should take break.
>benching Melia
But why?
Hug her, and kiss her, and love her. I love my pets too much.
>Not falling asleep to his voice as he impales you on his gargantuan titan dick
Seriously he doesn't seem that bad. The Nopon is probably going to be annoying as shit though.
You should at least push on until you defeat Egil. Then a bunch of shit should happen that should be enough to motivate you until endgame.
Went back and fucked around in X, forgot how kino it is.
I like how all the characters in XC1 say "Monado"
>beat Egil
>dropped after
I just didn't care at that point. The new area screen made me turn it off.
So hold up my niggas. I've been thinking and I propose this.
>Aegis shatters, Pyrrha awakens
Opening cutscene of the game. Torna tries to destroy the aegis thinking they succeeded only for the source of it to be Pyrrha. She runs and escapes, stumbles upon and hides with Rex, much to his happiness.
youtube.com
Now here comes the surprising part. I actually think this scene right here youtube.com
Azurda is shot down and presumably killed and Rex and Pyrrha fall from the ships, landing on the giraffe titan, where they mourn for Azurda only to find he's now in his mascot form.
Journey begins.
What do ya'll think? Just some speculation.
HELLO
IS THIS THING OOOOOOON
Didn't play xenoblade 1.
This something you gotta start from the first game to get?
Probably not since most publishers are scared as hell of that, but they're out there.
Ride her blade
uh UH YEAH
You shouldn't be thanking NoE since a lot of the other voices are pretty shit
you have to play the xenosaga trilogy on ps2 actually
There might be some reference in the full game, but so far that doesn't appear to be any other than symbolism.
because muh bois reyn and dunban are all I need
Literally the only bad voice I've heard so far is Rex when he's yelling. When he's not yelling he sounds great.
When is Amazon going to let me pre-order the fucking special edition.
You should always bench Melia unless you're playing her yourself. Her AI is trash in the original Xenoblade.
A thing I noticed was that Palutena pronounces it the same way in Smash even though it's kinda awkward in an American accent. Same with how she and the announcer say "Shoolk". Just another odd little carryover from the inexplicable British dub of the first game I guess.
If Metroid is any indication, never.
I like the way Fiora says the word "body".
Do you still hate the art style?
Pyrah's breasts are too big. TOO BIG!
Amazon a fucking shit. I was lucky enough so that the launch of Samus Returns coincided with the day my local EB Game started taking XC2 SE preorders so I placed one there when picking up SR.
Fiora's voice is probably one of the worst in Xenobalde just behind Juju
>that second video
Damn that's some ASMR shit right there.
People may not like the 'Tales of' anime-like style, but the models we've seen are easily the best human models they've put out so far. The artstyle fits their work way more, even if it does bring up a lot of "LEL TALES OF SHIT LEL" shitposting.
Been falling asleep to that video for nearly 5 years now. His voice is like honey.
Never going to happen but I so would love it if Nintendo and Namco made a deal and made a HD version of Saga 1-3. Maybe fix some of the annoyances in 2.
what's the apeal?
>The Nopon is probably going to be annoying as shit though.
Tora looks great though.
Went back to X just today. Finally killed Vortice, now moving to Nardacyon.
my botty
Who and who? I loved X but there was too many names to remember.
cute boy
You can literally 100% all of Mira and never find either of those, I believe. Don't feel too bad.
Superbosses. Level 90+ Tyrants.
Really? Fuck but I wanted to use my prime on it. Guessing I missed out on everywhere else that had it, right?
What's his name.
>superbosses
I found one in that gaint orb on Slyvium i think it was. Flew in, flew right the fuck back out.
Sean Barrett.
best buy
You'd dance with Tora and Poppi, wouldn't you?
Even if they put it up, you can't get the 20% off special editions with prime any more.
None of the characters sound remotely natural barring Gramps though. Even Aussie guy is pushing it in terms of hamminess/cheesiness.
Guess we'll have to agree to disagree then. I think Train girl sounds exceptionally great with what little we've heard from her. And if you don't like the big guy's voice then I'm sorry I definitely can't help you there. I love it.
The Mor Ardain and Torna characters all sound pretty good to me tbqh.
...
...
I dunno, I just find that little to none of the line delivery we've heard so far hits the right tones/notes so far.
>Pyra: "That, is our dream!"
comes off with little of the dignity or conviction in her voice you'd expect here
>Torna guy: "I'm guessing your goal...is Elysium."
comes off as sleezy rather than taunting
Train girl is one of the less offensive, just a bit dry in delivery imo. VO is just one of the things I'm really autistic & anal about because it can make or break RPGs for me.
>Train girl is one of the less offensive, just a bit dry in delivery imo
It sounds natural to me, not dry. I love it. It's so refreshing to hear these accents in a JRPG. I swear this is the first JRPG with Scottish voice actors.
Don't own a wii u or switch and I've never played these games, but I'm a big Xenogears fan. Do these games have anything in common with Gears? Do you need to play Chronicles first to enjoy X and why is the first game fantasy, second game sci-fi with mecha and the third game fantasy with no mechs again. Story telling or something? Thanks
No. What Xenogear fans need to understand is that Xenogears was the baby of Takahashi and his wife. Xenogears was HER story mostly, and she decided to throw in the towel a long while back so that's done and done.
No offense to you just tired of insane faggots acting like their oldfags by lamenting how Takahash is "Putting out non-stories and shonenshit instead of epic games like Xenogears anymore".
>Do these games have anything in common with Gears?
Not really
>Do you need to play Chronicles first to enjoy X
No, but they're both great I'd suggest playing both.
>why is the first game fantasy, second game sci-fi with mecha and the third game fantasy with no mechs again.
These games are like Final Fantasy games. They're all their own stories but with some common elements throughout.
Gabranth in XII and maybe some other characters, but I think he put on a different accent for the role and I don't know any in any other JRPGS.
>Do these games have anything in common with Gears?
No, aside from some visual style things and the odd reference here and there.
>Do you need to play Chronicles first to enjoy X
No, they're basically two entirely different games built upon similar mechanical systems is all.
>why is the first game fantasy, second game sci-fi with mecha and the third game fantasy with no mechs again.
See above. Both have "Xenoblade" in the title for brand recognition ("Xeno" is basically Takahashi's "stamp" so to speak). Also the first game is a more traditional story-driven JRPG, while the second is more an open-world exploration game.
Think of Xenoblade as Nintendo's Final Fantasy. In other words, each entry carries similar systems and visual themes, but are effectively separate from one another really.
I can’t imagine the dude who’s doing the voice of the titan sudenly switching to an obnoxious voice given how he sounds
They might just have a completely different VA for his mascot form.
He'll probably just be a little more whimsical in the mini-furry form.
Nah. His voice is perfect for his cuter form. Makes no sense to use a different VA.
Lightning and force topple
I hope not. That would be a serious waste of Sean Barrett.
I mean damn is that dude old though. Does he even have the energy to be a main character in a huge RPG like this?
So we know Azurda is the excellent Sean Barrett, but I wish we knew who Rex is being voiced by...
Maybe it's Giles Alderson?
youtu.be
INB4 Gramps is actually the Airy of this game.
Do you guys think Xenoblade will ever become an established, popular franchise? If this game sells well Xenoblade could cement itself as Nintendo's next big franchise/IP, though I don't think Normies will like it much.
I CANT HEAR YOU
I CANT SEE YOU
I'd rather the normies don't get their greasy paws on Xenoblade. I'd rather Mono-Soft just try to focus on drawing in more of the JRPG crowd rather than trying for the masses. You can lose a lot of a game's identity trying to pander to the masses. We should all know this.
He ever done any VA work for games or otherwise?
post cute meli
literally made for the BHC
Going by them deciding to use an anime style for 2 it won't since the west doesn't like anime style that much. At best it could be acknowledged as Nintendo's Final Fantasy or remembered more than their other RPGs. Just keep Xenoblade characters to Smash and it'll cement itself since being in there is a huge advertisement.
It doesn't really need to be, and it's all the better for it imo. Monolith-Soft is already a 2nd-party Nintendo dev, so they already contribute plenty like say helping on BotW. To that end, Ninty's warchest is so large, and coupled with the fact that they're reasonably respectful of their dev teams, will likely provide Takahashi with enough budget to run off and do his own projects from time to time regardless. Xenoblade may not sell hugely well, but it sells well enough to continue making them.
Or maybe the west just doesn't care about artstyle as much as you think they do.
All 3 games had had anime style character design, it's just made by different artists with different styles.
He voiced a character named Trooper in Killzone 3
None of the games are connected in anything more than species and Easter Eggs, think Final Fantasy with maybe a bit more hidden lore between them. While Takahashi's signature brand of sci-fi and religious themes permeates both Xenoblade and Xenoblade X, I'd say X is the closest of the three to Xenogears. It's too early to judge with any certainty, but I wouldn't be surprised if Takahashi ended up going PSYCHE ALL XENOBLADE WERE ACTUALLY CONNECTED THE REAL PERFECT WORKS STARTS NOW sometime down the line, but as they stand now, each is a standalone adventure.
>but I wouldn't be surprised if Takahashi ended up going PSYCHE ALL XENOBLADE WERE ACTUALLY CONNECTED THE REAL PERFECT WORKS STARTS NOW
I would. Seems like he's well past that point in his career and has burnt bridges with it. He just wants to do new things each time.
It's like people can't accept that still.
