Is this game genuinely good? I look at it and i just dont get it. It looks like a assassins creed game with the climbing towers and barebones stealth and what not.

Im really bored though and i can get it for 20 bucks.

It's really fun
Good graphics
good controls
and a cute girl

It's got great combat and the writing/story is pretty engaging. It's got a fair bit to offer, but there IS a lot of shitty "crouch in the grass" stealth to the game.

It's what you make of it. If you really enjoy learning how to best fight certain monsters and making creative use of a varied set of weapons to accomplish your goals, it's great. If you just want to go from start to finish and prefer a "path of least resistance" type playstyle, you're gonna be a little let down.

how bad is the sjw shit?

>i can get it for 20 bucks.
That's an important consideration. It's probably worth $20 to almost any "modern" gamer of any kind. Even just for the linear story path with minimal sidequesting and exploration, you'd probably be satisfied with your investment.

I mean seriously. $20 is only a little more than going to see a movie in 3D.

>how bad is the sjw shit?

Not an issue at all. Literal Sup Forums overreaction garbage. the matriarchal tribe you belong to are retards and treat the protagonist like shit and live in relative squalor and primitive conditions. Traditional patriarchal and even slave driven culture have achieved a shitload of progress and are nearing renaissance/industrial levels of advancement and accomplishment. Yes, lots of people underestimate and bully Aloy because she's a female. Yes she's rude and sassy about it. What the fuck else would you expect? She's the protagonist, You're supposed to identify with her and be on her side.

So no. Not an issue on the micro or the macro scale.

>spray painting your used shit to make sure nobody dumpster dives for it and it makes it to that landfill safe and sound
Peak asshole

It's literally a Ubisoft game with robot dinos. Take it as you will.

It's fun if you are into Open World Blades of Grass Simulator with RPG Elements and Crafting #2336

If you're disposing of infested furniture, I'd say it's responsible. I'd write "BUGS!!!" but silly nihilistic slogans are cool too.

thats a fucking recliner

its cool for about 2 hours. then its terrible.

Yeah but destiny 2 is in a few weeks so eh, id feel bad about an impulse buy for a game i don't even have a real interest in other than curiosity,

I mean people i respect even, giantbomb for example, gave the game a perfect score so something must be seriously fucking good here but i just dont see it when i watch gameplay,

If you are a sad sap with only a ps4 go for it. If you have literally any other platform, it's shit.

>and a cute girl
She looks like Moldylocks, you tasteless creep.

It's a pretty generic Far Cry game.

its pretty boring when it comes to the story, near the end i just started skipping cutscenes because i stopped caring but the gameplay is decent enough to the point where you will finish it.

It's the best iteration of the "ubisoft game" ever. The combat is GREAT and the graphics are pretty. If that's what you want? Go for it.

>how bad is the sjw shit?
not really an issue, but you will rarely run into a white cis male who isn't a villain.

Literal real deal spoiler

The villain main/final is a black guy you dink.

Ah alright then fuck it.

Ill buy it.

former mustard race who ascended to being an idort here. you wont regret it my dude. have fun.

Tightest open-world game I've ever played.

When you play an open world game, a lot of the time you expect a ton of bugs, or an empty overworld, cut-and-paste missions, etc.

HZD runs like a dream, including a completely seamless map, even when moving into interior maps and dungeons. The only loading screen in the entire game is fast-travel. Never saw a loading zone like what happens in Bethesda games sometimes.

The map is fairly small compared to other open worlds, but it's packed full of stuff and none of it feels like wasted space.
Between all of the collectibles (and there are a lot) and the side quests, you'll naturally explore the entire map.

The game also doesn't flood itself with "content." You can get the Platinum in like 50 hours. So there's really no time for the game to overstay its welcome.

Aloy controls really well and the combat is pretty satisfying, especially if you have a mind for stealth gameplay.
Aloy's abilities never reach broken levels so the machine enemies will always pose some kind of a threat over the entire course of the game. It's more like you get more proficient, rather than more powerful.

The main villain is an AI.

Working with a black guy.

I hated it at first, then liked it for a while, then resumed disliking it by the end. I just fucking hate the stupid awful writing and voicework that they seem to think is amazing, it's so fucking bad. The story sucks, the world sucks (except for the robot animals/dinosaurs) and almost all the characters suck with a few exceptions. And yes, the SJW shit is omnipresent with a lot of GRRRL power horseshit and the scenarios where grown male hunters look to a 19-year-old girl as their savior so there's that too.

The real issue is the gameplay, where you realize it's just another open world game in the dull Ubisoft style with icons fucking everywhere but nothing to really see or do. The one time I said "hey, that shit in the distance looks cool I should go there!" it was a waste of time because it was a story-related thing I wasn't supposed to go to yet and I couldn't do anything. People shit on BotW all the time here not realizing why it's so beloved; it spits in the face of that gameplay philosophy and gives you a world you really do want to explore and lets you see cool shit for exploring, not to mention you remember parts of the massive landscape. In HZD everywhere (within the different regions) looks the same outside of some ruined buildings and you just don't give a shit. Combat is also fun until you learn to just spam a few of the truly effective weapons because everything else is a waste of time.

Yeah but then he fucks off and helps Aloy, and the new right-hand is Helis, who is quite pale

Do you have to have this discussion in a thread where im talking about maybe getting the game?

It's not a big deal. The story's much larger than that

And also it isn't an amazing story. I found the lore/world more compelling.
