Remaster.
Aesthetics (mostly Toads and a few enemies getting standardized) and QoL improvements/basing it on the Japanese version aside, it's pretty much the same game.
Minion Quest is the only significant difference.

What would you say those issues are? Stat bloat is a big one, and the Japanese version fixed that which a remake would base itself off of.

When I heard the clean rip of Cackletta Soul's theme, I was disappointed that the electric guitars became so subdued and barely audible, but here I can kind of make them out. This goes for other songs too. Am I just imagining it? Maybe the SFX and audio quality is masking the poor sounding samples?

It has some pretty fucking steep competition.

One of the main problems with it (at least for most people) was how linear everything was. Peach's Castle wasn't an organic hub like the towns in the rest of the games, the time-travel mechanic is basically just glorified warps to dungeons and who knows if they'd change the Bro Item system?

You know it's things like this, just a bunch of little things that makes Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions seem less and less worth it every day. People say it's pretty much the same game for the most part but... I dunno.

Games using settings to bring out audio better is not uncommon, chances are that the raw audio files we got ripped so far simply weren't done with utmost care.

I recall the first few rips of Dream Team OST sounding atrocious as well.

I pirated it, there's alot of effort in it, lots of very good animations, lots of brand new cool little things in the Minion mode which has some of the best dialogue in a Mario RPG in a long while. It's far from the worthless mess the "but the soul...." folks here make it sound.


Wouldn't buy it tho. Should've taken better care of your system if you didn't want me to crack it open Ninty.

Don't get me wrong, it's not utter trash at all. Efforts were definitely made and such. But it did feel like with the exclusion of certain things, it's not too worth it.

I pirated it though so oh well lol
