Julius great war game when?
>1999 game is finally released
>you can play as Julius and Alucard with a PoR type gimmick
>map isn't gigantic but isn't small
>callbacks to every game in the series in one way or another
>Julius can only weild the whip and subweapons while Alucard is equipment based
>can do co-op HoD style
>Alucard has all his SoTN abilities plus some new ones while Julius has all the characteristics of every carrier of the whip throughout the ages
>Charlotte is alive at the age of 70 offering advice
>Dracula dialouge tops the SoTN fight
I can dream
WHAT IS A MAN?!
...
A MISERABLE LITTLE PILE OF SHITPOSTS
Anons, this is sad. You have to let go, as Konami will never do anything good with the franchise.
LOL
Are the N64 games worth playing? I skipped them
HAVE AT YOU!
best castlevania
No, not really. It did some interesting stuff in how you would encounter some of the bosses.
...
that's not SotN tho
Yall niggas playing through any Castelvania games this October for Halloween?
recently played through circle of the moon, maybe i need to beat magician mode now
I've been going through every canonical Castlevania game and a few outliers like legends and Circle of the Moon, which I'm currently playing.
If Circle of the Moon just hid the cards in the Castle in a way that rewarded exploration instead of random drops the game would be so much better. That and if they removed double tap to run and polished up some of the bosses, then it would be the best Metroidvania Castlevania game.
So stupid for them to make the cards random drops, like they just fell back on atypical Jap game design and it clashes with CotM so hard. Still a great game though.
CotM is a lot of fun, one really positive thing about it in my opinion is that it's a lot more difficult than SotN
>callbacks to every game in the series in one way or another
eww
Something seems really off about these grafix, but at least they got the Belmont stride down.
what's wrong with that. Series does it all the time
definitely, rediculous how hard some are to drop. shame cause the cards are what make the game so tight
Well, I think it was a solo project. Also neat that Alucard's OG voice actor helped out as well.
>play SotN for the first time this year
>play the fuck out of it
>get to the final boss
>blah blah blah says the Dracula
>get rekt
>try again
>blah blah blah say
>can't skip
>get rekt again
>don't feel like playing it now
>pick up the game a month later
>explore the shit out of the castle and level up some more
>time to fuck up Dracula
>things seem to be going smoothly
>getting killed here
>I'm gonna die again
>let me just eat this piece of sush
>Familiar gets the final blow on Dracula
Yeah, you really feel stressed to find the save rooms when you've traveled a long distance, shit feels great when you finally hit one.
Also
>some random summoner beats Dracula by him self using summons
Anyone else mildly irked by this? Every other game shows Dracula needing the vampire killer or some other exceedingly strong power (like Alucard, and that spell in OoE) to beat Dracula, but this dude just walks up to him and kicks his ass.
Die mon
>Double Jump and mid air dash
What a fucking load of bullshit.
This scene really does get me pumped. I honestly think it's great, and I mean the whole exchange. Especially Draclua's delivery, and how he chucks the wine glass right before he finishes shouting.
Nah, Hector was a devil forgemaster and was trained by Dracula himself, also Death used Isaac who was significantly weaker than hector to revive Dracula so when he was brought back he wasn't at full strength.
its actually a good game considering it was made by 1 dude I feel like he couldve gotten away with reusing the SoTN/DS era enemy sprites and made a game out of that but I think the MUGEN engine fighting game has that covered.
Makes sense I guess, I never put a ton of thought into it.
Also this remake is fucking awesome, I thought I heard that people hated it but I honestly loved the whole thing.
only problem with Dracula X is the poor resolution because of the PSP. It has the objectively best version of SotN though and you can play the original Rondo. Also the god tier opening. youtu.be
Can anyone recommend a 3D Castlevania on Steam? They don't look very fun, but maybe you guys know something I don't.
I'm not a fan of the Lords of Shadow series so I would say avoid them
...
I heard they were just God of War clones, I've never played them but I saw a let's play of them and I wanted to fall asleep the whole time.

Simon's Quest is actually playable now a days thanks to the retranslation patch
Is Simon's Quest actually any good?
>that Bloodlines
The best.
>Is Simon's Quest actually any good?
It's fun for historical value since it's a proto-metroidvania
>Well, not bad, huh?
This and its remix both are good.

finished CV3 the other week, holy fuck it was so damn good
what are your thoughts on the CVs i have yet to play but want to
>Bloodlines
>Chronicles
>Harmony of Dissonance
>the PS2 3D games
>Bloodlines
Really fucking good
>>Chronicles
Just another CV1 remake, haven't played it
>>Harmony of Dissonance
really good, looks a little ugly though.
>>the PS2 3D games
both are good
>richterfags will deny this
...
Sums up SotN perfectly.
Based Leon will hunt the night
What a great fucking game
>yfw it's released as a pachiko machine
>ywn hunt the night
Why even live?
...
Overall which version of SotN is better? Saturn does have a few extra goodies
They are not bad but on the other hand they are not exactly castlevania.
But they suck. A game doesn't need more contents, it needs more quality contents.
eh Maria mode was fun
Johnathan!
Nah, they're too busy jacking off to Castlevania 3
Charlotte!
...
Fucking kek
>Bloodlines
Nice though short and easy even on hard mode, sound effects can be horrendous.
>Harmony of Dissonance
The even more retarded version of SotN, stupid experience system is back, piss easy, it's a game about nothing but figuring out where the items to pass roadblocks are, also the sound quality is trash.
I just beat Aria with the true ending
What now?
Did you play Adventure: Rebirth? It's fucking amazing
what said.
I had fun with it, but it did not feel at all like a castlevania game.
I wanna fuck that sphinx.
Go for hard mode.
>yo hol up oniichan I got this
Yeah, i have and yeah, it is
I don't want to get burned out of Aria though
which CV games have you not played?
>getting burned out of a game on the first replay
That would only mean that the game is shit.
I think i'm missing the gameboy ones, DoS, PoR and Lords of Shadows
But i don't have any interest in playing the latter
Sega Saturn version is better
I unfortunately have already marathoned the series earlier this year when Bone-posting popped up.
Is that high lord wolnir prototype?
Exactly what i mean
I just don't wanna replay right away because i enjoyed it a lot
>That and if they removed double tap to run
>have been using the cheat code to run all the time since anons recommended it on Sup Forums
PURE GOLD
All the gameboy ones are good if you're referring to GBA, if you mean the original GB then if you played the first castlevania adventure wiiware remake you should play its GB sequel, it's really fun and has a difficult final boss then play Legends
God haunted castle was so much fucking bullshit
>dat bloody tears remix though
Play Dawn of Sorrow, its sequel.
Cool i'll try out the GB ones
Johnathan!
The new Netflix show will surely breathe new life into the series. W-We will get the 1999 game
I still don't understand why Konami went away from the 2D metroidvania styles of Castlevania to focus on the 3D almost-God-of-War-but-not-really style of gameplay.
At this point, they have to acknowledge that no one fucking LIKES those games, right?
Hell, even if you're willing to live in denial and point to the fact that yeah, Lords of Shadow 2 sold a few hundred thousand copies, do you really think that's worth it?
I mean, Order of Ecclesia sold more and it was a cheapo 2D sprite-game.
It doesn't even make economical sense to keep making these full-3D triple-A Castlevania games anymore.
You'll get a Castlevania 3 remake with the exact gameplay as lords of shadows and you'll like it
Yeah they had a good routine of doing experimental 3D games and regular metroidvania games at the same time. There was nothing wrong with their routine
You'd think someone at HQ would actually look at profit-charts every now and then and try to find the bottom line after each game.
Developing a massive 3D Lords of Shadow that sells meh, can't possibly be making a higher number than hiring two spirte artists to make 100 rooms, 50 enemies and a programmer to glue it all together over 6 months.
I'm exaggerating obviously, but it's still weird how they keep trying to force something that clearly doesn't work to work.
The only light in this otherwise bleak existence is at least we probably won't be seeing Lords of Shadow 3.
on the bright side we got Harmony of Despair which is a best of
>1999
No thanks. I don't want to see the adventures of cosplay Iga fucking about with some shrine maidens or w/e the fuck is the queer shit that involved sealing the castle in the moon
>No loop in X68000 where all the Persephones start in their monster forms
Would have been neat, though probably really unbalanced.
Yes they are! If you like the charm of early N64 games and spooky atmosphere, these games are just for you!
Didn't stop them from fucking up the second loop of CVIII with the floating skulls that replaced the Medusa heads
The Persephones probably wouldn't be as bad as those things. CV III on Hard truly needs to be experienced to be believed.
These are the moments why I live for
