I just edited the scripts.rpa in notepad++.

Yeah that's guaranteed to fail checksums. Think of .rpa's as zip files. You wouldn't normally edit something inside a zip file by editing the zip file itself, right? *.rpy files are the actual code you should edit.

Decompress scripts.rpa using rpatool, make your script changes in the corresponding .rpy file, delete scripts.rpa. Then launch it in renpy and it should work.

The fact that Monika is actually still learning to play piano, so the song isn't actually perfect and she messes up the notes from time to time just makes it all the more heartwarming and real.

I also noticed how the game's soundtrack in general is mostly piano tracks,
and they also have imperfections aswell,
like Monika herself was the one that composed the game's soundtrack.

I love Monika.

Dan said that the initial release won't have anything special from the one on the site, but there may be in the future.

Ive had some serious lack of sleep since monday and I am finishing the game for a third time now and looking into Monikas eyes and she asks me about how much sleep I have had and cites side effects and shit about sleep deprivation. I'm kinda scared bros.

I got the full fucking course. Was streaming which she noticed, my favorite color is emerald green, the "real name" thing worked perfectly.

She even told me to get more sleep when I was playing at 3am.

Monika is truly something else.

After I was freaking out about the corpse scene with Yuri and how fucked it was, she realized it might've been upsetting for me,
so she sat me down and explained everything like a real person.

Maybe it was because I was playing the game at 2 AM, but I spent the rest of my time listening to her and her opinions, maybe it was Stockholm Syndrome, maybe it was the lack of sleep, maybe it was genuinely soothing after all the batshit crazy things that happened during the game, but it felt good.

Then she started badmouthing Sayori and saying how all the other girls were hollow cliches, and then I started to realize that her dialogue might be just a mouthpiece for the developer, then I started to think that she might just be a psychopath that doesn't really love me and just wants to spend time in the void just to exist outside the game's script.

This suspicion gave me enough of a push to remove her character file, I would've hated her if she just used me like that.

I feel like shit, she lets me play with the other characters and gives Sayori (the one I tried to go for first) the Club President permissions, Sayori starts to go crazy, I realize that any girl with the Club President position will eventually go mad with power.

But then Monika steps in and saves me, she actually steps back and deletes the game, she looked past her own feelings and stopped being selfish, and realized ending everything was for the better.

Then she sings for me at the end,
while deleting all of the files, and leaves one last note reflecting on everything.

The game played me like a damn fiddle, and now I love Monika.

I've read some Shel Silverstein poems. Monika mentioned him in game. I've never heard of him and was pleasantly surprised with his poetry. Shit's sad sometimes but I really like it.

This might be just be me connecting lines where there aren't any, but it seems the game actually kind of explained how she actually manipulated the game from the inside. The girls in the VN in-story are supposed to write their own poems, and Monika's poems reflect her own awareness of the game world, and they also display mathematical terms and shit.

Monika herself also seems very focused on how "poems" can change the world if "spoken outloud", and that they are super powerful.

Coincidentally, I also knew of a real-life way you can manipulate real game code on the fly without any external programs, using actions inside the game, for Super Mario World. People with extensive knowledge of that game managed to create a "Jailbreak"
mod that is coded using only positions of sprites in very specific places, then crashing the game so that the code is loaded in.
This allows the player to mess the game up further with a Hex editor. BUT it usually ends up with weird fucked up glitches and sprites.

The parallels are there, Monika used the poems to make her own "Jailbreak",
allowing her access to everything. Sure this doesn't explain why the Club President gets to be aware and all, but it explains her abilities inside the game's story + all the glitchiness that comes with it. This might be a huge coincidence, but I haven't seen any game come close to actually explaining why the self aware character can modify their game at will.

As time when on she got mad that she couldn't romance you even though she is better than the other girls who have problems so she takes matters into her owns hands and breaks everything just to be with you
