I'm having fun on the PS4, desu. I mean, it is very arcadey, the gun handling is not very good, because you are so easy to spot there are way more unlucky deaths. But still, it's free and the only battle royale on console.

The problem with fortifying when the circles tiny is people will just rpg/nade you. Makes you a huge target.

I usually only build if I'm near the centre and I only build inside existing structures. Aside from the occasional defensive wall for mobile cover obviously.

Shotguns are always this risky to deal with.

It just depends on what you want. There's no doubt that both are a lot different than any classic games because of the open nature and the closing circle. But they are pretty different in the actual shooting department.
Ignoring the battle royale angle, PUBG's shooting is familiar to early 2000s shooters. No hit markers, team killing is on, and you try to peek out and get shots without getting shot.
In Fortnite BR, it's a lot different. Instead of peeking out, you can just shoot the hell out of their cover and destroy it, but you can also rebuild it.
They're no doubt the same genre, but they seem different enough to me to both be enjoyable, but not as a replacement to one or the other.

if it had character creation, cosmetic drops, and $1.99 lootboxes that you also get when you level up, it'd be the highest grossing game of the year hands down.
