The split benefitted /vg/ and /vr/ more than it did Sup Forums. They may be slower, smaller and more "cancerous", but at least you can avoid what you don't like just by ignoring threads you want nothing to do with. There's maybe 1 in 10 threads on Sup Forums not ruined by some shitposter.

Around when /vr/ got made the mods made a sticky in Sup Forums to make people post on topic and cracked down on moderation. Guess what happened? Sup Forums flipped the fuck out because off topic posting and derails are board culture. this is what the userbase wants and you should go elsewhere if you want structured video game discussion

/vr/ is one of the few good boards left. Unfortunately it's pretty fucking slow and I think the rule of "only games before 2000 are considered retro" really kills the board.

I think as long as personafags are banned from the board it'd be okay. Really, that goes for any board on this website

That used to be more a moderation thing. Discussion would extend into relevant non-/vr/ vidya, everyone's on board then you come back to the thread the next day and find it's been nuked. Even mentioning a game title could get your post deleted, it was madness

There are some knowledgeable and passionate people there and they're not quite as elitist as I would expect. It's alright, I make sure to behave myself when I post there.
