Is just a impression of mine or the writing in this game is shit? The dialogue feels really off and badly written, i just watched some videos on the first chapter and it doesn't feel natural and charismatic like in the first one...

>Natural dialogue
Fuck off you stupid faggot, the first episode was great. You should probably just kill yourself
It's not for everyone. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it's bad. Move along, troll
It doesn't feel natural because it's basically filler and a cash grab until LiS2 comes out.
Why they decided to make a prequel to Chloe I'll never know though. It makes no sense from a narrative point.
Anything about a teenage girl with too many hormones and first world problems is pleb-tier at best.
>it doesn't feel natural and charismatic like in the first one
>hey let me just insult this big and buff bodyguard on this party so he will let me in, this is surely how it works in real life
>fuck i hate my completely reasonable mom and stepdad because they call out stupid shit i do
>this small toolbox from my real dad? totally awesome! this big professional toolbox of my stepdad? he must have the smallest dick in Arcadia Bay!
>i surely want to hang out with this mysterious, most popular girl in school
>i spend only few hours with her, we did some stupid shit, stole things from people and i learned that she has daddy issues too
>despite knowing her for only half a day, i know that this is true love and she's the best person i ever met in my life
>let's watch her cause A FUCKING WILDFIRE with some pretentious hipster music in the background because it's apparently deep and artistic or some shit
This is why you never let SJWs make a game.
>literally too pleb to understand the game
>thinks theyre sjws
loving every kek
The writing in LiS is unnatural and shitty. The story is literally all these "games" have going for them, and it's just garbage. They offer nothing of value to anyone.
...
>this is surely how it works in real life
yeah rewinding time and shit is also how it works in real life i bet
the rest of the stupid shit you said isn't exactly unheard of for a dumbass teenage girl. i know your aspergers must inhibit you from understanding other people's points of view.
>sjw
oh it was a shitpost the whole time, fuck me
The writing in the original was shit too. Game had on of the worst time travel narratives I've ever seen. But don't expect any of the fans of this shit to ever acknowledge or even address its faults. They'll either ignore you or say you're shitposting without being able to contradict any of your criticisms
>focusing on the time travel when the real story is about a reconnection between two estranged friends
...
It's not about time travel at all nor it's about teenage girl missing user. You missed the point.
It's just another shitty western yuri game. What do you expect? Also written by SJWs.
>get btfo
>i-i'll call him autistic!!
look cunt, the game has its faults. some of them are charming, some of them are just outright bad. the time travel is important, but it isn't the main focus of the story. you aren't trying to figure out why you can rewind time, you just use it to push the story along. i don't know why that's so hard for you to understand.
the whole crux of their reconnection is the time travel. It makes up the conflict, the climax and the resolution. It being absolutely shit and totally unjustified is a huge issue. And the friendship was total shit. We don't really have any justification for Max being close to Chloe other than being told she was her friend. For the entire game, Chloe is an immature cunt, which is fine for a teenage character, but leaves you with no investment and no turmoil when making the final, contrived decision
I was an awkward teen lesbian once and sadly the writing is pretty accurate desu. Chloe is just awkward as fuck.
I didn't play the prequel, but the original was abysmal and the writing played a large part in that. I don't imagine the prequel is very different in that regard.
I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE DUDE NIEL DEGREASE TYSON IS THE SHIT
>It makes up the conflict, the climax and the resolution.
I mean, so does the ghost of King Hamlet but that doesn't make Hamlet a ghost story.
>For the entire game, Chloe is an immature cunt
She's wounded and abandoned and stuck in a dead-end town. Try a little empathy
This is true, but the story about the reconnection between the two friends is fucking awful because the basis of their relationship isn't shown to the player and neither of the two girls are likable or engaging. LiS's story fails on that, it fails on the time travel front and it fails on the mystery.
bull shit. if all of the writing that surrounds a story's "point" is shit, then the story is shit. You can't boil something down to its theme and say it is good. Might as well just write down some platitudes and call them great stories
What a poor criticism. None of your examples explain your strong feelings against the character or against the story itself
Being made by a different studio probably had something to do with it.
>yeah rewinding time and shit is also how it works in real life i bet
There is something called suspension of disbelief you retard.
Which is why you accept dragons and magic in some media but once a character acts retarded or irrational you don't like it anymore.
And original LiS was also shit and time travel had insane amount of plotholes so your argument was retarded from beginning.
>natural and charismatic like in the first one
I think we played different games, this is exactly as bad as the first one.
The difference being that you're playing as the worst character in the first game.
>a video games writing is bad
WOAH
How time travel aspect is shit? LiS is a story about growing up and having responsibility in your actions. Giving massive amount of power to a teenage girl and then asking for repayment at the end is a pretty decent story. Since time travel is only a tool to get the message across Its implementation into the narrative doesn't have to be a fucking masterpiece.
It's not even a competent implementation though
>I mean, so does the ghost of King Hamlet but that doesn't make Hamlet a ghost story.
you really don't understand shit about Shakespeare and the purpose of his mystical elements. And the ghost doesn't do shit in the plot but set up Hamlet to start his revenge plot. Meanwhile the time travel is the solution and cause for all of the problems, and the time travel has no cause or reason for existing. The ghost exists because someone died and that person had a strong desire for revenge. Your analogy is shit
>try a little empathy
she received a little empathy. But she ruined that with her unending string of bad decisions and selfish behavior over something that happened years ago. A "little empathy" will not have me concerned over the death of one shitty person vs the death of hundreds/thousands
whatever you say
>And the ghost doesn't do shit in the plot but set up Hamlet to start his revenge plot
It doesn't do shit besides instigate the actions of the entire play and provide motivation for the protagonist, you're right.
>over something that happened years ago
Losing your best friend and father at around the same time probably leaves a lasting mark on the personality.
How so?
>losing your father
>yeah get over it.
that's not how it works
>Ghost doesn't do shit
What the FUCK is wrong with you man.
It doesn't work as a cautionary tale of "don't mess with forces beyond mortal control" or "you have to live with the consequences of your actions" because she gets granted the powers out of the blue. The moral of the story is that when she serendipitously got the power to save her old friend from dying, she shouldn't, just because? She had no incentive or warning not to, and then she gets punished for doing so by an inexplicable force of nature. It's a horrible implementation of time travel to facilitate themes that have been better captured dozens of times over with time travel stories
>Natural dialogue
...
It's inconsistent. The "dude butterfly effect lmao" is complete nonsensical bullshit. We get no hints or resolution as to why/how she received the time travel powers, so I guess it was just the literal universe itself granting her god powers randomly.
>asking for repayment at the end
In the form of basically forcing her to invalidate all of the events of the story and letting Chloe die in the bathroom. Which again brings up the question of why Max was given the powers in the first place, since the intention of giving her the powers seems to have been just to reach the end point of never using the powers.
i refuse to believe thats real
>How so?
Max learning she has time travel powers never reaches any logical conclusion. Obviously they couldn't let you choose your own adventure, but Max is literally retarded with her inability to utilize her magic powers.
Also,
"stupid bottle" is the perfect example
Insert groan here
the ghost is literally just a manifestation of the drive for revenge that hamlet could have. It's just a plot device to have some character interaction and supernatural flair to deliver exposition instead of having Hamlet soliloquy. But sure, keep deflect to this instead of actually trying to defend the indefensible time travel bullshit.
Yeah, no shit her father's death had an impact on her. But you can't excuse the destructive and callous actions of others on their past. No one would ever be convicted of crimes if people simply forgave other's for being shitty because they had a rough childhood. Self destructive tendencies and flights or harm to others encourages empathy. Perennial shitty behavior is not. I don't give a fuck if one low life has to die so I can save a whole town
>good writing is explaining all mysteries point-by-point
>that's not how it works
I don't know if it's expanded upon in BtS because I haven't played it and I don't intend to, but Chloe's behavior is not at all justified by this excuse in the original game. To be upset by the loss of a parent is natural and fine, but for it to make you do a complete 180 on your personality and become a terrible turbocunt is another thing entirely. I've known plenty of pole whose parents have died, some of which in a much more tragic fashion than a car accident, but they moved on, because that's what people do. Chloe's behavior could be justified if she had a truly strong relationship with her father rather than just a standard father-daughter relationship, but the game fails to convey that, they jsut say Chloe's sad because her dad died and call it a day. They even waste the time travel, which could have been used to show the relationship between the two, by only going back to when he was alive once and only showing the two interact for a minute. The whole situation is just a lazy excuse to justify Chloe's terrible attitude.
>no incentive or warning
yeah dude, seeing your friend paralyzed, suddenly beached whales, snow, two fucking moons, seeing your best friend die over and over again. yeah man these are not warnings at all.
>out of the blue
So when you have immense power all of a sudden you don't have to feel responsible for it because it just came to you right you can do whatever the fuck you want.
She's not wrong
>good discussion is strawmanning
I used to think it was one of the best movies evar when I originally watched it. Looking back now, it was kinda bad.
Did you even play the game?
Women are meant to serve men.
and exactly none of the bullshit you are spewing has to do with saving Chloe. No warnings before that, no possible reason to choose not to save her. yet that is what the whole story revolves around
Uhhh
>it was kinda bad.
Well, that's an understatement.
DEFEND THIS
youtube.com
I liked the first chapter since I felt what it'd be like to be a millennial twit. This one however feels more like a scripted movie based off the first one.
>game
The ending is so cliche, I predicted it back in episode 1, and I'm far from the only one who did it.
It would be fine, if the other plots were interesting, and some of them were - but none of that shit was resolved, like with the Prescotts. There was an interesting theory that the teacher guy was actually Nathan's father, and that he knew about Max's rewind powers. Now that would be a twist. Instead, we get the most cliche serial killer ever.
>Season 1 dialogue
>natural and charismatic
Why are dragon loli posters always retarded?
Fuck off Cursor Lucullus
gentle reminder for women: you were meant to serve men. it wasn’t She, it was He. it wasn’t Her, it was Him. it wasn’t Goddess, it was The God. modern patriarchal religion serves the purpose of creating women’s true purpose, a submissive, supportive, and givers of life (babies). Temples were covered with images of women serving and supporting great leaders of men and men alone.
VIDEO GAMES
not everybody is the same user. Some move on some linger, some bottle up their sadness, anger and loneliness.
>father-daughter relationship
I agree that game failed to invest that relationship deeper then it should. Personally my emotions filled in those blanks during gameplay.
The choice is about trying to fix your shit once more even though you saw that it helps nothing or realizing that you should accept the
responsibilities of your actions. I think warnings were pretty enough, you must be an idiot to think that game didn't warn you at all.
>it doesn't feel natural and charismatic like the first one
What's next OP? You're going to say the story and characters weren't as good either?
>/u/ garbage
In the trash
...
>they wrote david as more of an asshole because they want you to believe that Chole is the good guy
Its as bad as the first, if not worse due to that. Still worth a laugh though.
>more of an asshole
except he is not? He was friendlier than the first season.
Say it isn't true. Being able to personally side with David outside of the game was the only way I could stomache the segments of game at Chloe's house.
>make entire game revolve around the attatchement and desire to save one character
>make said character stupid, obnoxious, borderline suicidal, and a burden to everyone around her
What did they mean by this?
>Life is Stronge
Yeah I noticed that. He's not even her stepdad yet and he's giving her talks about how "You will respect me young lady!"
And then he actually seems to be trying like when he's talking to her about his car and literally everytime he says something Chloe makes some smartass remark to herself insulting him. He's more bipolar then anything.
>serve in the military wasting away life and seeing things someone shouldn't see
>come home depressed
>meet lovely lady and hit things off
>find out daughter is a prick for almost zero reason
>have to live with this for the rest of my life
Must suck to be him.
>That's a tasty plasma
What? Who the fuck says that?
>first thing he does in the episode is snap his fingers at Chloe and tell her where to go like a dog
Yeah he's a great guy
I'm pretty sure nobody says hella either.
>He was friendlier than the first season.
>Only interaction is "GET ME MY FUCKIN TOOLS IM THE MAN UR A GIRL U DUN KNOW CARS" and the shit talking where he says "I TAKE SHITS BIGGER THAN YOU"
>Compared to the first season where he was just grumpy and stern and didnt want Chole to cause trouble or get herself hurt
>I think warnings were pretty enough, you must be an idiot to think that game didn't warn you at all.
what warnings? When was Max "warned" that saving Chloe would be a mistake? She was inexplicably gifted the power to save her old best friend from death and then she gets punished for doing so the entire rest of the game. Her not using her powers the entire rest of the time would still result in the storm, apparently, so she is getting punished for nothing. And yet the game gives you the choice to go back and let Chloe die or leave with Chloe, but not go back, save Chloe and try to get the town evacuated. Great stuff
Did you forget about the part where she's a fucking cunt to him from day 1? I wouldn't blame him with having to put up with her shit.
>first thing he does in the episode is snap his fingers at Chloe and tell her where to go like a dog
Yeah, because the writing in this one is dogshit, whats your point? David in the original was one of the only likeable characters
...
No idea about BtS mate, just played season 1. He was in the wrong slapping her, but she's a massive cunt through and through. 19-20 and acts like an angsty teen.
>not everybody is the same user. Some move on some linger, some bottle up their sadness, anger and loneliness.
That's fine, but as I said, the game has to actually convey that to the player. Chloe's backstory feels as fleshed out as a side-character's and that's not acceptable when she's the star of the story in many respects. It's just a lazy way to make you want to give Chloe a break because it's sad when parents die. It's a pathetic and arguably manipulative way to try and make you care about a character.
I never saw so many LiS shill on this board at once.
Is Sup Forums finally dead?
You wont get a genuin awnser here.
Leave while you can.
And he also go's for a fist bump and he tells her that she could be good at working with cars if she lost the attitude.
Also he wasn't that fucking bad when he was explaining the different car parts to her. Then again my dad's like that, only difference being he still has to explain it even if you know already, so I'm more use to it.
To be fair, some of the are actually trying to argue in favor of the game this time. Bless their hearts
I pirated the original to go through the parts BroTeam didnt VOD, other than that i just watch the Life Is Dranks streams
Something stinks here...
And it isn't my shit this time.
>tfw when went to the life is strange general to see how bad it was.
Never again. The only general I've seen worth going to is the mount and blade general.
She was fleshed enough for me to care but I understand where you're coming from.
So you backtalked him, If you don't do that he actually shows his true colors. Just like in the first season he's a classic asshole but caring father character.
I just like to talk about video games.
The Guild Wars 2 general is fun, and you don't even have to have played the game to enjoy it.
Incest SFM when?
Kirby generals are comfy
>but leaves you with no investment and no turmoil when making the final, contrived decision
I really like LiS as a whole, but yeah, Chloe being horribly unlikable made episode 5 and the climax a waste of time. I think Chloe is a well written character, where her motivations and actions are consistent but at the end of the day, why should I care about her? Because she had a rough life? There's no point in trying to guilt trip us into "wanting to protect her" so to speak, when she's insufferable to be around.
>>For the entire game, Chloe is an immature cunt
>She's wounded and abandoned and stuck in a dead-end town. Try a little empathy
You can still be a toxic and horrible character while being likeable. Bojack Horseman is probably the epitome of this. He's incredibly toxic and dangerous to anyone close to him but you still want to see more of his story because he's entertaining and interesting on the screen.
Why bring in a B team specifically to make a shitty one off?
So they don't take the blame or what?
Because Square Enix are greedy jews, and Dontnod are busy with Vampyr and then LiS season 2 with new characters.
