Compare DD's writing to the first Ace attorney. It feels much more soulless, there are no quoatable excanges - think of Edgeworth's "I object! That was... objectionable" from 1-3. No such stuff.
The cases are pretty good, even if the actual trials are too hand holdy, but the characters aren't used to their potential and that's really where AA used to shine.
I mean, did Edgeworth, Klavier, Trucy and Pearl coming back bring ANYTHING to the table? Even a funny or memorable conversation?

Even considering magic and Apollo's stupid bracelet her gimmick seemed so out of place for some reason. Maybe it's just because I hate the character that I wasn't into it. Wow a teenager with like two degrees and is somehow a fucking anime elemental, an amalgamation of all the dumbest and most annoying cliches they can find.

What about Layton vs Ace Attorney?

Yes, but only in DLC. Because this is the first time Athena and Pearls meet there are some nice interactions between them during the investigation. I hate how in the main game Edgeworth, one of the most important characters from original trilogy pops up and both Apollo and Athena are acting like they've known him for years.

I love those games. I love those characters. It's a real joy when Edgeworth appears in AA5 or whatever. But it's meaningless fanservice. These characters had their time in the sun and needing to check in with them for every new game just takes away from the new identity they are trying to cultivate.

Not the guy you've been talking to, and this is definately subjective, but I just feel like AA5/6 is a little more "manufactured" than 1-4. Like the villain reveals and heroic moments feel a little less like they're developing the world the characters live in, and just a little more "hey what would the audience find really cool/shocking???"

I enjoy the games, and there absolutely are some cool moments, but shit like Means and the Queen's transformation just feel a bit cartoonish and hamfisted even for AA standards. And everything in 5/6 is exaggerated in a similar way, in my opinion.

Will there ever be a 3D Ace Attorney game with full ability to walk around inside the crime scene environment instead of just clicking on stuff with Examine

I know Investigations let you walk around as Edgeworth but that was back in the 2D era

She has her own unique personality, as in she was the most energetic assistant before Athena arrived, she's more useful than Maya, and I'd argue she's slightly more unique in terms of personality than young Ema was.
