Rolled back to an old version and been enjoying playing beta 1.7.3. Anyone else playing old Minecraft?

>Walk slower
>Bow had a short range and can spam arrows
>No exp/enchant grinding
>Best terrain and seeds like Glacier and gargamel
>No hp regen
Old Minecraft is just like Vanilla WoW- Had great experiences in it, but there is no way in hell I am spending any more time on that shit

After years of the "150mod mod packs" shit it's refreshing to just have the bare bones install.
I've got Millenaire in. Watching a village in the distance gradually grow as I build up my shit.... It's nice.

I miss the days when you ran an exe, and dragged/dropped your mods into a folder, or some autist came up with a great package with full textures and you just ran an installer.

Now its full of achievements and competitive"lets plays" to see who can come up with the most novel thing to do, on and on and on.
People focus on form over function and everything gameplay/universe related withers and dies.
Gaming hasn't had good writing/backgrounds/stories in ages it feels like, or good gameplay elements.

I remember when my friends and I built a Nazi base in the End and hunted everyone outside of our inner circle down outside of the end abusing the factions mechanics.
It was beautiful, we closed all the end portals and made them unusable.
Then we told everyone that didn't join us that we would hunt them down and kill them.
Our spawn was a permadeath trap that we would flick on whenever someone joined us.
The rule was if you wanted in you had to bring all your factions stuff, give us base coords.
Once verified we'd let you in and turn on the permadeath trap, so when you tp'd home you'd die over and over until you had to quit the server.
It was wonderful.

Floating Islands used to be a worldgen type.
They were removed, supposed to be their own dimension, that became The End.
AMPLIFIED Worldgen came, and people thought FLAOT was finally coming back.
Turns out AMPLIFIED was just Vanilla Worldgen but everything cranked up to Extreme Hills Mode, thus meaning FLAOT still isn't in the game again.
Why not just mod it in
I don't want to relive it, but the sadness comes naturally along with the fondness of the memories.

From beta 1.8 the terrain generation was changed to be mostly flat plains, before it you'd get crazy cliffs, floating platforms, spires and weird awesome shit.
Also before b1.8 there was the "far lands", where if you traveled far enough the terrain generation would start to break and go weird.
