Honestly, I just started playing the first and I'm wondering how this reboot got so much praise. Lara has no personality, the supporting character sucks and everything about the game feels generic. At least Uncharted had great cutscenes and character to fall back on.

The worst part of the TR games is the supernatural focus of the narratives. I really dislike the Uncharted games, but found 4 to be excellent when it took a more grounded direction. I'm sure there are people who do get a kick out of ghosts and prophecies, but it always came off as uninteresting and cheesy to me. Unfortunately, I think TR has locked its antagonist in as being Trinity, so I don't see this aspect changing anytime soon. With that in mind, I enjoy these games and will likely buy Shadow, but at this point the series isn't much different than Ass Creed in recycling the same gameplay formulas and so on.

I don't know how the fuck you or anyone else enjoyed the old games. I played 1 and 2 at release and thought they handled so bad I dropped both of them like 3-4 hours in. They were bad even for control standards at the time.

SE publicly stated TR did not meet their sales expectation. It sold several million copies, so to us it doesn't seem like a flop but to SE it very well could be.

You can also go back and read through interviews surround RotTR's exclusivity controversy where the CD devs talk about how the the scope of the games was dependent on Microsoft's funding.

Yea, as someone who only played Anniversary, Underworld, and the new ones, playing that new UE4 remake of TR2 really showed how much more effort was put into the actual platforming and TOMB EXPLORING.
