BB/GG thread

Tl:Dr- Just read the patch notes on what ever BB's last patch was and played a bit, -3 on EA has literally fixed my biggest problem with the game.
>dabble in fighting games most of my life, get execution down but never learn key elements like footsies
>pick related comes out an start playing with a another friend who played GG casualy
Absolutely fall in love with BB since CT
>CP comes out and is so far and above all the previous entries, play the shit out of it and become pretty damn good
>fall off the train after playing a shitload of GG Rev
>Start to become a jaded GG > BB fag but get hype over CF
>Exceed's Accels exist along with a bunch of other minor issues turn me off of the game after while
>Went back to finally play some with my local group today
>EA now -3 on block
>game largely fixed

CF2 is pretty good, although GCOD is still too good imo

I want to see them poop

>hard as fuck to play
>incredibly boring visuals
>if played well will make matches boring and drive opponent to rage quit
>trash design
Is this the worst fighting game character in history?

post squirrel

who is your favorite guilty gear character?

Too much reward for the good amount of effort.

>will makes matches boring
I a disagree. Carl is probably the most technical character in the game, runners up being Rachel and Naoto. Seeing a carl really push the offence with pinpoit ADA timing while managing the meter is very impressive. But he also takes massive damage. It's a bit like Zato-1, hold a good defense (assuming you know the match up) and make full use of any punishes or good reads you can make. It also helps that I main Tager and Azreal, so I only need 2-3 good reads. resource dependent, to close that out.,

I just got back into BB recently. I couldn't find a character that clicked before but Es is really fun to use.

It upsets me that my waifu get's such a bad rap as a "babbies first meme character." I'm not top tier at the game, but I do great at multiple locals around me and I win most matches online. Jack-o, like every character in the game has her own nuances you have to know to play her well. Against anyone who knows the matchup you have to play a very deliberate game of house set ups. You have to know which houses to set up, in which order, how to space them so that particular character can't break them all easily, if you to need to call them all back and hope you can make better position, when to buff for max combo carry. Hell even if you 2D you have to know when the ghost are going to hit so you know when to spit them out of the hold so they can carry the combo. Nothing is worst for a Jack-o player then having a kill setup only for a ghost to come in from offscreen and hitstun/blockstun them out of your setup.

Fighting game brainlet here. What to you mean by the exceed accel being -3 on block?

It's not completely safe anymore

When it's blocked you are stunned for 3 frames (1/20 seconds) so your opponent can retaliate after blocking it, making it risky

I want to pick BB up. Is there a decently sized PC community or should I stick to GG?

+/- frames on block dictates what an opponent can do on block. If you hit with a + move on block if basically means you have that many extra frames on the next attack. Which that really means is if you use a +attack and they block you can input an attack (if it has a pretty quick startup) move to shut out a lot of there responses because your hit was a positive (net gain) on block. The opposite is true for -3attacks
Basically an EA was an attack you could tack on to the end of your buff phase. If it was blocked the opponent could not punish you, now they can.

>I want to pick BB up.
Go ahead, it's pretty fu-
>Is there a decently sized PC community
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Stick to GG.

Not playing since CS; how is the game now?
What has changed?
Are the new chars shit?(their design is, but actually, most chara design in bb is shit)
is finally Bang above trash tier?

How into Jap fighters are you? I'm a PC gamer mostly but the minute I got a good deal on a ps4 I Bought one cause I knew GG Rev and BBCF were coming to it. If you want to play anime you need a ps4, sorry.

>Are the new chars shit?
Nine is babbies first character along with Mai, Susanoo seems to be a bit better after buffs, Naoto is great if you're an autist with the strongest wrist. Habiki is actually solid.
As for Bang, he had a strong showing by multiple people at CEOTAKU over last weekend.

thanks mate.
How is the balance of the game?

Overall pretty good, a lot of the more technical characters still maintain their top tier slot like Litchi and Carl but overall most characters can be viable in the right hands. CF also introduce the one time in BB that Barrier is a real resource. I don't know if you played older BB games but that barrier guard had a laughably long meter, so much that the tutorial of the game told you to almost always use it. In CF it actually runs out reasonably and has to managed as an actual resource.

Played Since Ct, then stopped on the last straws of Cs. Sounds good, might give it a try(mostly because of cat husbando).
Community is active on ps4?

KEEP CALM AND THINK ABOUT RAGNA

>Naoto is great
Isn't he lower-mid-tier? Pretty sure he's just a harder to use Ragna. And Ragna's not even that good anymore.

Yeah. May have to go to Discord for lobbies but it's good enough
Jubei is decent but a bit fragile because of his perma crouch thing

You're right. by great I ,meant fun.

thanks bro. See ya there!

I don't think more effort necessarily equates to more fun, especially considering the results aren't anything special.

These games are overly complicated and have the most retarded execution.

It has nothing to do with complexity, his move set it cool. 214A can lead into some nasty jukes and even a simple BnB with him looks cool with Enhancer.

Is that all? So you just like how his moves look?

If it's a matter of visual aesthetics, I think Es is better.

Does anyone know how big the european online community for GG XRD2 is?

I'm thinking about picking it up, but in BB there was always the problem that after a while only really good players still played online. So it was hard to get into if you didn't get it on release.

I think EU has always had a good GG community

Well, shit. At least GG is fun.

Starting to get reallly into them. Mostly GG, but I've been wanting to pick BB back up, maybe UNIST if it releases on PC. I want a PS4, but my budget doesnt really allow me to get one, especially with paid online. Also just dropped 200 bucks on a stick and trying to scrounge up 1500 to build my first rig so PS4 is a no go. Guess I should look into the local scene.

>try gg
>do relatively okay
>try bb
>get my shit kicked in
>try unib
>sometimes bad sometimes okay

fighting games

What's your main for each game?

I'm undecided between getting BB CF or GG XRD2. Never played one of the newer GG games, but I played all BB ones before CF.

How is the story mode in CF compared to the other ones? I'm one of these very few species that enjoys the Blazlbue story mode.

may
naoto
oreo

It's good. Tie up subplots and Ragna becomes best boy. The ending may be a gut punch though

Does BBCF run well on PS3? Heard there was crossplay, so I might get it there instead of PC

Both are a good time. GG probably a better playerbase (ie more people to play), but mechanically both are sound so in terms of mechanics it boils down to your preference.
