New player and the only Fortnite thread was at bump limit so I didn't wanna ask there. If I've installed Fortnite because it's free and I like the unrealistic aesthetic more, I've also heard PUBG has an advantage for playing on low, which I don't like since I'm a graphicxfag.
Is there anything to make PUBG worth spending money on over Fortnite from a gameplay standpoint? I heard PUBG has vehicles while Fortnite BR doesn't, and that the map is bigger. Are these good things from a gameplay and balance standpoint or more of a setback?
PUBG does have more features, like the cosmetic unlockable type stuff, and more variety of items you can collect, and the vehicles
Fortnite is still a work in progress, but it's free. And it's got the crafting system which PUBG doesn't have.
There's pros and cons to both, but they're both fun.
Isaiah Wood
PUBG because the gunplay is shit in f*rtnite
Josiah White
Fortnite's better, no question.
Not only is it free, but it's balanced better. The huge sightlines of PUBG are not present in Fortnite due to a much more varied terrain height, and as such, each weapon feels just as useful as the next, as apposed to "Snipers or assault rifles with scopes or gtfo"
Hit detection actually feels like it should. PUBG always felt like hitting ghosts, where Fortnite actually has satisfying shooting. Numbers appear above the player's head saying how much damage you did, which clearly communicates what advantage you have gained.
It runs infinitely better. Far better optimized, and better looking imo
There's more variety of weapons. You aren't limited to bullets, but also occasionally rocket launchers and grenade launchers, which are very useful against...
Buildings. One of the great ways that Fortnite creates progression. Once the storm starts moving into a tiny circle, players start using the resources they collected to build small bases or just forms of cover to give them the advantage. It's not possible to do it early game since the storm's going to move so much, and you don't have the resources usually. PUBG has no sense of progression aside from claustrophobia.
The weapon tier system also helps. It makes looting more fun, and by the end of the game you feel more powerful, even if the number difference is minute.
People can't just constantly hide behind trees. Almost everything is destructible and as such you have to react. The good news is destroying stuff creates resources which you can use to build your own stuff.
The map is smaller, but I don't think it's a bad thing. Games tend to be more focused and more fun, since fights happen more frequently. Thus, the games tend to be shorter, which to me is a good thing. Less running around doing nothing.
Those are my thoughts anyway
Aiden Smith
>gunplay is shit in f*rtnite Fortnite actually has satisfying shooting ]Well, which one is it?
Joseph Anderson
It's personal preference. I personally don't like it.
Tyler Jones
Satisfying. The sounds of the guns are very powerful and punchy all around, and the visual feedback is much better than PUBG's.
For example, if a character has a shield (which is basically just overhealth), and you shoot the character, particle effects appear showing that you've damaged the shield. Not only that, but the damage number that appears above the head is blue, also conveying that you shot the shield.
And I think the netcode is better so it feels less laggy.
Cameron Campbell
the one that costs no money
Tyler Barnes
>fortnite >rng shooting is satisfying
the absolute state of Sup Forums
Ian Campbell
You can build a working concentration camp in fortnite, with a real swastika windmill and flame trap oven.
Also buildings are destructible, which instantly makes it loads of fun. Nothing quite like collapsing a house on top of some camping br with a grenade launcher.
John Cook
>shit game that costs money >shit game that's free
If I had to choose, it would be Fortnite.
Eli Murphy
There's no progression system in Fortnite, which I think kills it. Like at least give out banana dollars to buy crates like Public Goy.
Joseph Reed
Fortnite's shooting is based on rng and only the first bullet fired actually hits the mark, the rest just goes everywhere no matter how slow you tap fire. The devs confirmed they will "look into it" in the future but I wouldn't get my hopes too high.
That shit about satisfying effects is bollocks too. It's all cartoony pew pew shit.
Oliver Baker
So I just launched Fortnite and noticed that there's also the "Saves The World" mode, which is the original PvE one. I actually quite like the fact that there may be multiple modes for this game beyond the Battle Royale and PvE, and that they included them all as one game instead of splitting them into multiple games in the same series.
Is the gunplay the same in Fortnite PvE as in Battle Royale? And is the PvE tower defense actually any good or fun at all with randoms/ an d riends?
Cameron Smith
PUBG if youre over 18,Fortnite if youre under it
Luke Torres
>no progression system >brings up microtransaction shit Didn't that only come to PUBg recently, and then Sup Forums threw a shitfit when it happened because they announced RNG loot crate microtransactions out of nowhere in early access?
Benjamin Collins
The RNG isn't satisfying. PUBG also has RNG. TF2 has RNG. Even Overwatch has RNG to some extent. Doesn't change the fact that overall, Fortnite is more satisfying than PUBG.
Benjamin James
if you are over 25 years old you MUST play this game
Jonathan Cruz
>PUBG if youre over 18 Why?: They're both just shooters.
Elijah Morgan
Not him but isn't this how most shooters operate?
Jace Gomez
PVE is like 50 bucks and extremely heavy in pay to win mechanics. I wouldn't touch it.
Jaxon Ross
Fortnite PvE is a gigantic hamster wheel grind-fest.
Don't play it. Save yourself the grief.
Carson Howard
I don't have a problem with a win/loss tracker, or cosmetic items or whatever after playing so many games.
I played my first game of Fortnite BR yeaterday. I actually fucking won which is hilarious. I just for lucky and ran into everyone's back. But that's it, that's the whole game. You don't get a win on your record, you don't get xp, you don't get any items, it's like it never happened. Which I AM fine with, but I don't think it'll capture most people.
Chase Brown
>dayz playable edition vs. battlefield heroes is this really that difficult?
Jonathan Morris
most shooters have some sort of recoil function, not just rng
Christian Miller
PUBG gives me massive anxiety, sweaty palms and makes me feels like a potato cause i cant hit shit from the shaking. also the drab look of everything is depressing when i think about it. BUT! sniper rifles and scopes fucking work ( when there is no fog)
Fortnite is bright and shiny and i feel confident running around and fighting, almost no anger from dying and I already got my umbrella while no chicken dinners for pubg ( i work alot but still)
I will be sticking with fortnite, it just feels smoother and easier to get into. the aesthetics are easier on my eyes and nerves. for sure its the more casual of the two but ive come to terms with my limits of being able to put time into video games and now appreciate that
Alexander Richardson
No. Recoil in any other game has a defined pattern and you can learn to control it, hence why CS:GO spergs memorize theirs and what not. PUBG example
There is recoil. Look at the webm. You shoot and the crosshair goes up. What's your point? You don't like how different weapons are optimized for different ranges?
Alexander Perez
Want me to put my cock in your ass? Shut the fuck up.
Isaiah Gutierrez
PUBG has randomized recoil as well. There is no set pattern to memorize.
Jason Myers
What do you mean? every TPS i've seen is like this, what is changing?
Justin Flores
Nice one, mate
Got me quivering in my boots
Juan Wilson
It's not about it going up, it's about the bullets wildly going to the sides for no reason at all. You think guns fire like that?
Gavin Barnes
CSGO has random recoil patterns as well.
Ryder Lee
You're shaking with desire. Sorry, fag, I don't swing that way
Adam Nelson
...
Josiah Allen
fornite is miles ahead
Austin Powell
No. Do you think every game has to have their guns based exactly around how they work in real life?
No. You design the weapons so they are most effective at different ranges. That way, each gun feels valuable. Sure, RNG is kind of a lazy way of doing it, but it's effective.
Jaxon Stewart
Someone already made an actual edit.
Kevin Price
get fucked
Nicholas Sanchez
post it fag
Jacob Phillips
Don't have it. Only saw it in a random thread a while ago.
Levi Moore
Fuck off. Your stupid argument about "muh guns at different ranges!" is retarded because pistols and snipers are the only guns in the game that have bullets that actually travel straight and have drop too. In case you are too thick to understand: That means a pistol is literally better than a rifle at long engagements, so fuck off with your excuses for bad design.
Lucas Murphy
Look at these retards. CS:GO players know the exact recoil pattern of their favorite guns.
Thomas Hernandez
Citation needed. Please find me an example of a pistol in Fortnite firing with perfect accuracy that isn't the first shot.
Nicholas Mitchell
If you want more tactical, slower paced gameplay, go with PUBG. It has a larger map that takes longer to traverse, which in makes engagements less common. It also has gunplay that encourages longer range engagements.
If you want faster paced, more active gameplay, go with Fortnite. The map is smaller, making engagements more common due to players relative inability to spread out. Since a weapons quality is just as important as a players aim, engagements tend to be shorter ranged. It features a building mechanic that allows for a variety of strategies.
I suggest trying Fortnite since it is free. If you like the concept but find Fortnite isn't cutting it, try PUBG. But don't buy PUBG until you know you like BR games.
Oliver Taylor
Here you go, faggot. What's going to be your next excuse?
>Is there anything to make PUBG worth spending money on over Fortnite from a gameplay standpoint?
In the unlikely event this is not bait.
Fortnite has no vehicles, no ironsight, no first person mode, no body armor (but shield potions), no weapon customization via attachments (e.g: mags, stocks, grips), directional hit indicators (telling you where you are hit), and a very different (worse, in my opinion) gunplay.
Asher Foster
>Sup Forums latches on to fortnite just because it’s a PUBG competitor How long until you all hate it?
Bentley Jackson
Either you're blind or retarded so let's spell this out for you.
AN OUTLIER != THEORY RUINED
You see he fired multiple shots. The picture is the third shot he fired. Do you think that's accurate?
With RNG, there's always a chance that a shot will fire where you aim. The fact that you showed me a video where it's absolutely clear that your first statement:
>pistols and snipers are the only guns in the game that actually travel straight and have drop too
is wrong, makes you - again - either blind or a frothing retard. Which is it?
Jack Cox
Fortnite Still depends on what'll they do with the planned additional "mobility options" and maps. And when they finally have personal character customization/options.
Bentley Hill
So Fortnite has more potential than PUBg, but is just barebones now. Maybe I'll just play it a bit and then come back to it in 2018 once the official PvE mode becomes F2P as well.
Jonathan Butler
>unironically enjoying The Division more than either of these.
Andrew Cook
>retarded flailing
Here, have another. Guess why pistols are the best weapon for aimbots? Because no rng.
Mason Sanchez
wat
Liam Ross
Fornite Primarily because they're not scumbags threatening with leeegaal aaactioon just because a game is similar to theirs
Caleb Phillips
Explain.
Oliver Collins
so how long until fortnite br gets ruined by f2p microtransaction bullshit
Considering it's going to be straight up F2P for both its tower defense and Pvp mode, they're probably working on the feature as we speak.
Lucas Martin
>have another company tweak your engine for their game >rip off everything they've done >expect to get away with it
oy vey! It's annuda shoah!
Levi Evans
The PvE is apparently already ruined by it, so soon.
Anthony Rivera
PUBG if you have a good pc or xbox
Fortnite if you have a shit pc or ps4
Gavin Stewart
>rip off everything It's a game mode similar to it but with its own mechanics and flow. The concept of a large scale FFA/TDM game type isn't particularly unique or new anyway. The only thing they could possibly say is original is jumping off the aircraft into the map.
Jose Sullivan
Okay you're retarded then. A) you aren't defending your point and B) you show someone hacking as evidence of a gameplay mechanics.
My sides. This has been entertaining
Luke Wood
"Survival" is a battle Royale mode in the division. Instead of this faggy "hurr Durr there's a circle you have to go in so you can't loot forever etc" there's individual things you have to overcome; thirst, hunger, and the biting cold that will force you to seek shelter or find a heat source. You can loot for weapon parts, clothing, food, water as you traverse the city and choose whether or not to face NPC enemy groups of varying risk and reward whilst also drawing player attention . Then in the mid game you have to gear up enough to enter the dark zone and gather a certain crafting material before shooting a flare and starting the end game. The end game sends high-end NPCs that will fuck your shit up if you haven't geared up and know how to combat them with the tools you have available to you. For each player in the area it will scale to send more of these units that you must overcome whilst also fighting your peers in a 3-way war of you vs NPCs vs players. Then you have the be one of 4 people to extract in the helicopter to secure the loot you gathered. I genuinely don't find pubg or fortnite appealing when imo The Division did it better years ago.
Aaron Bailey
Fortnite is free, try it out
Then Keep playing it because paying for a flavor of the month game is retarded
John Cruz
not him but >rifles are so random you cant even cheat reliably with them unlike pistols
Angel Cox
Fortnite is honestly just more fun to play than pubg at the end of the day in my opinion. The same friends I played a ton of pubg with I now play Fortnite with and we end up having a much more enjoyable time due to a few reasons I think:
>Smaller map and both longer and faster glides mean players are easier to find no matter where you are due to landing all over the place versus the majority being directly under the plans path like in pubg.
>less focus on looting things such as attachments ect mean you can be ready for fights and any range very quickly unlike in pubg where unless you have a 4x scope you are better off not shooting at the majority of people you see to just continue looting.
>Terrain with many hills plus the quick building means the distance fights take place in can be closed very quickly leading to very quick and fun flanks with shotguns ect
>Blue zone has a wall so people cant just sit in it healing and killing those outside of it.
Luis Russell
Yeah, I feel like getting out there and kicking some ads in Fort nite but in PB&J I never want to move sometimes and fuck up my perfect camping spot.
Owen Gomez
>The only thing they could possibly say is original is jumping off the aircraft into the map. Actually scratch this too. Battlefield Bad Company had you spawning in the sky and parachuting to your desired location long ago too.
Nathaniel Rogers
PUBG has the highest player retention of any game on steam, ever. It's the exact opposite of flavor of the month.
Adam Peterson
Not him but you can see that he has kills with the rifle, he probably just ran out of ammo
Josiah Martin
He posted a video showing a pistol firing innaccurately, then showed a video of a hacker, firing 100% accurately.
Do you genuinely think that his hacks aren't altering the bullet trajectory?
Aiden Barnes
>Blue zone has a wall so people cant just sit in it healing and killing those outside of it.
I do this all the time.
Blake Green
What are you being retarded about? The devs literally said they'll look into the weapon accuracy problems. No matter how hard you try to defend it, the devs have acknowledged it's broken
>hurrr hurr I'm da puppet master
Sebastian Brooks
Try it its fun. The only people telling you not to are pubg players on suicide watch.
Lincoln Allen
nah, cheaters can hit reliably with rifles as well 0 spread hack
that said, rifles are still accurate on the first few shots despite the hyperbolic shitters
Jeremiah Clark
you're the one talking like you're lost deep in the closet user
Jordan Morgan
The first video showed that 2 bullet shots hit when like a full rifle clip couldn't.
Ayden Hernandez
Cheaters aren't a problem if you're not playing with Germans, like in every other fucking game ever made.
Oliver Gomez
see how tough you are after I rape your arse, poof
Adam Anderson
gathering loot is annoying (on console at least). sometimes it's impossible to get a certain thing that was dropped without having to swap just to get something out of the way.
Jeremiah Stewart
>fortbabbies think this is accurate
lmao
Thomas Howard
switch to the pickaxe and spam the pickup button, if you have the pickaxe out it won't pick up guns unless there's free inventory
Parker Barnes
And still, *still*, you don't defend your argument, because you realise it's wrong.
Your points, as a reminder:
>Pistols more effective than rifles at long range >Guns behaving not as they do in real life is bad
The latter is what you're basing your former argument on. You haven't remotely defended that position, and that's because it's indefensible. But please, if you want to really make my day, try to argue that every game should have every weapons follow the rules of real life, regardless of balance and artistic direction.
That aside...
If the devs are changing the weapons, okay. Fine. I'll see what they change it to before I pass judgement
Julian Brooks
fpbp
Jacob Stewart
buy pubg on steam and play a couple rounds
you'll know instantly if you enjoy it or not
i think you can do free returns if you have less than a couple hours of gametime - essentially making it a free demo
Jordan Peterson
>PUBG is for over 18s
Then why is it full of kids? Kids are more likely to play the edgier, more realistic game because they think it's the cooler one. The only reason why a kid would play Fortnite over PUBG is either they can't run PUBG or they can't steal their parents credit card.
Caleb Walker
geez just get a male prostitute already gayboy
Gabriel Phillips
might aswell try free fortnite and if he enjoys the game mode and want something serious, realistic, e-sports focused then go for pubg.
Parker Myers
This is some pathetic flailing. Here, have yet another video
If we're talking about effectiveness at range, take into account that damage plays a role. If a pistol's area of trajectory is twice the size of a rifle's, but does half the damage, which is more effective at range?
