Is SF5 worth it for 20$ do any of you guys have any regrets buying it? or is the hate that sf5 gets just a meme

Is SF5 worth it for 20$ do any of you guys have any regrets buying it? or is the hate that sf5 gets just a meme.

I got about 15 hours in it before I got sick of farming fight money and quit. It's basically a F2P game you have to pay $20 for.

Wait for the arcade edition or if you can get the vanilla version plus the two season passes for 40 bucks then go for it. I would buy it for 20 though.

If it includes the S1 is a ok price.
The hate for the game is not a meme on Sup Forums... Pro players like PieSmug, FChamp, Diago, Floe and even Gootecks hate the game because of the reduce of the skill gap and the simplified combos (Mid pro players canmake top players combos)

>daigo hating the game
sure, buddy

They really don't give a shit and most of the guys openly says that they do it just for the money

No.
Yes.
Yes.

Listen to this guy.

is this early game footage? there is no way the game still plays like this.

I paid $70 for it from a store that broke street date.
I bought a second copy four days ago for $20.

Probably could've held off on the early purchase for a couple of days, but I have no regrets about $20.

Really early, but maybe this will be her second V-trigger.

infiltration has also been critical of the game

To don't make the list long, every top player of SF says it is shit... But alot are having hope in the Arcade Edition

Will SFV actually change the mechanics beyond "lol add another v.trigger you can choose"? I mean the core mechanics, not just slap another of what's already in there on top of it. It's the basic shit that makes this game not so fun.

You were saying?

People have been speculating that Zeku is season 3 test. His crush counter buttons have an extra 5 frames of recovery on whiff only. His backrise is also 5 frames slower. He also does less stun than most other characters.

i finally got it yesterday
fun game despite all the complains, im having fun

Wow, criticising is hating the game. Ok.

>it's not exciting
>it's not fun
>there's no variation

Sounds like dislike to me.

Why do they would change the backrise?

I appreciate that they notice that this game is kind of fish-for-crush-counter: the game at times, but they should really think upwards instead of backwards at some points. I mean they can't just up and nerf everything.

Like with V-trigger activation, I think it should have pushback if near a blocking opponent as it should force block if they're holding back, just as an example, or if they're not blocking it should send them flying back, and it's a good keep-off maneuver without giving too much defensive advantage, but it behaves the same way in combos if you want the extra damage.

That's just an idea, of course.

Anyway, I'm not sure if that whiff disadvantage alone will stop crush counter from abused especially by good spacers. I really think they need a mechanic against that but not something so situational that it could only be used against them. A tool that isn't too versatile, but it works especially well against crush counter fishing so that people being too predictable wih them will eat something to wake them up.

its more than worth $20, no question about it

i play it every day, its a huge value. if you wait until january you can get a good deal on SFVAE with a preorder too

Get USFIV

sfv is designed to be the way it so so that matches are always exciting for the esports audience. To fix all the pro complaints they'd have to make a totally different street fighter

He was literally answering the question what is it that you would change to make the game better and he is talking about specifics. I'm not saying that he loves the game or even like it but he wouldn't be so dumb to shit on the game being who he is.

if the wanted it to be esports they shouldn't have patched the balance as often as they did

I'm really not sure how unless they're secretly hoping that SFV arcade edition will fix the stuff about the core game with the balance patch I'm sure that's coming with it.

Cause everything about SFV Arcade edition that they announced will not fix the problem of SFV in terms of gameplay. New v triggers aren't drastically going to change anything really. Be nice for variety but that's it

>spoiler
Fucking e-sports. Fuck Valle too.
It isn't just about getting good. It's about having fun PLAYING and I'm not getting MY money's worth out of just watching a boring game take place between high level competitors. If I wanted to watch, I'd just not buy the game and stick to watching them play, which I don't want to because it's boring to watch for me too.
>To fix all the pro complaints they'd have to make a totally different street fighter
Yes, that is true. Sad, though.
I mean I don't even like SFIV and there's too much bullshit in the opposite direction for that.

I personally want to avoid those issues that I hate about SFIV especially OS shit. But SFV really needs more than what it has in my opinion, and "another V-trigger" or "another critical art" or whatever won't do it for me.

And for the love of god, no more meters. There's enough of those onscreen already that it feels like an anime game in that regard.

They aren't going to make anymore editions.

Vanilla SFIV neither had the best reception on the core gaming and tecnical aspects, but with the updates of Super, AE and Ultra became one of the best fighting games ever.

What? Vanilla sfiv was hated.

thats what he said, retard

no u

The SFV hate is partially meme, and partially warranted, but in reality the game and cast is improving. You might want to wait for the Arcade Edition though, just to see if the game gets rebooted a bit more in Season 3 and get all the characters.

It’s bretty gud. I’m bad ad it but still play it often. I like the graphics compared to other fighters

phenom is the only pro who has openly said he only plays for the money. stop spreading bullshit. tokido and nemo for example could easily drop sfv and go play whatever game they want while still have great careers outside of gaming.

i think its ok i dont regret getting it i got it for free on pc

What do Nemo and Tokido do professionally?

They are professional penis suckers

...

Luffy did too though.

I think new v-triggers is a marketing term, the game is obviously built around it and casuals won't honest to god give a damn if characters got new moves or combos were mechanically changed.

>All characters unlocked!
>Arcade mode!
>Extra battle mode!
>Free premium costume everyone month!
>Crush counters have +5 frames of recovery time!
>Alex has DDT and Ibuki has spin kicks wow!

>Drop the game
>They could get more than 200k on Crapcom Cuck for the first prize +the buys of the CPT pack + the payment of sponsors
>Sponsors for SF are higher than any other fighting game
Holy shit user, are you really so fucking retarded?

They only do one major and one minor patch a year though?

They literally announced Arcade Edition (free for current owners) a few weeks ago

But they promised they wouldn't do that...

Specifically, they said there would be no separate disc or update to the original game that you would need to buy, which is still true. Everyone is getting the gameplay updates, and people jumping on now get all the characters for a better price.

You can play as Vanilla vs Arcade Edition.
Arcade edition is GotY edition, if it were only a GotY on any site.

Nemo was some white collar, Daigo was a nurse, and Tokido is ???

>Daigo was a nurse
what, are you serious

You must be new to the SF community. Fans have very strong words for every game they play. It's a huge difference from other communities that only attack games they don't play.
Harsh criticism is good and it does help, but Capcom pulls some monkey paw shit and everything they fix ends up sacrificing something else no one paid attention too until it was fucked.

Yeah it fits his nature. Stay up odd hours for days and then hibernate.

I bet he did double shifts and call ins so he could get days off easy.

It probably is on Eventhubs

I haven't played since Akuma came out. Are any of the new characters worth grabbing, and what's all changed in the game since then?

I'm considering going full goy and buying a season pass to dodge the money grind, but I might wait until season 3 since I heard they were going back to returning characters.

I got the game on sale for around $20 a while ago, so I'm probably going to buy a pass for S3 as well. S1 I managed to buy with FM, I don't care too much for S2, and since S3 is guaranteed to have returning fan favorites I probably won't get burned.

So they made zeku shit on purpose then made him extra shit before arcade even hit? That sure looks great for the games future.

It really pisses me off that he has everything to be a good character in general but capcom just gave him the short end of the stick for basically no reason like with alex and ryu

Let's see

>online barren wasteland
>shit SP content
>DLC can be grinded, only crapcop gives you chump change
>literally zero people online
>did i mention last time i played i waited 30 minutes in que

but hey, netcode is solid

You can get a number of higher quality fighting games for roughly the same price so nah. Also the jew edition comes out soon, but it's just the game + dlcs bundled

You're retarded. If they were smart they would've kept to their promise of boosting weak characters up and keeping strong ones the same but not broken.

But nah lets give urien and rog more health and safe ex momentum moves and the best ccs and triggers. Better nerf fang though.

Even in his current state he's probably better than bottom of the barrel characters like Ryu and Juri.

He'll be even better when the playing field is evened up come AE.

>SFV netcode
>solid

Not even close.

Also DLC being grindable is a fucking god send. I bought the game for $45 on release and havent spent a cent since, and I've managed to buy every character out so far.

I play a lot of same people every time a new fighter comes out, a lot of these people are overseas, so we always evaluate netcodes, and if we are able to have actual enjoyable matches overseas, we see that as a win.
The netcode isnt perfect no, but it's definitely one of the better ones.

Only menat is good out of season 2 besides akuma. The others fall short of good with abigail being second best behind her. Kolin is trash and boring and ed barely works since half his combos can whiff if not perfectly spaced but they also can't be confirmed to something else to mitigate that risk. Zeku has tools to be good but his links and mix ups aren't as devastating as they should be so he plays like a gimped akuma/guy.

I wish Kolin was a bit more interesting. I'm a big sucker for ice characters but she is definitely lacking.

>Alex
>Ryu
>Juri
I'm the guy who hadn't played since season 2 started. I know Alex and Juri weren't that great in season 1, but what happened to all of them? Ryu was the best at literally everything last time I played.

Lost his damage and guile got buffed.

Ryu had everything good about him neutered. his j.lk was altered so the hitbox wasn't busted, his throw loop was removed, overhead was slower. On top of that his VT was always garbage so now he basically had nothing.

Just wait until January when the Arcade Edition comes out with almost all of the DLC and re-balances across the board for the whole cast.

Alex got fucked for shits and giggles
Ryu lost everything that supported neutral or fireball game but got nothing to boost his close range game
Juri is mostly the same but that doesn't mean much when she was decimated by her reveal trailer alone
Fangs normals got slower and even harder to link
Vegas claw range gets shorter by the second and at this rate oro can be in season 3 armless and still out reach his sorry ass

Mirror those to the characters buff and who got buffed and it becomes impossible to defend such blind stupidity on capcoms part.

>Alex, Fang, Vega nerfed
>Guile, Urien, Balrog buffed
>Mika gets nerfed but Laura becomes Mika 2.0

Mika getting nerfed was bullshit. Especially when Laura is actually worse and doesn't rely on a lucky read to do 50% damage in one meterless combo from anywhere on screen.

st.mk your path

Nah, man, as much as I hate Laura, s1 Mika was retarded.

As horrible as her mk is do to deal with i would say that its not as bad as ibukis. It has both deceptive range and stupid priority like hers but is also +6 on block so she can just mk you to the corner if she wanted

And speaking of mk why the fuck does every character have the same fucking animation for it?

Not to mention they kept cammy the same but gave her an air throw, and also left karin untouched.

Is Mika still about wildly fishing for irish whip or whatever gets the most corner carry into corner shenanigans the whole match or does she actually have to play the game now?

She has to actually work for the corner now, so of course no one plays her anymore.

thats literally guiles trigger.

Tokido got some proper degree at some hotshot Tokyo university but he prefers to play fighting games.

But her gameplan is still about ultimately getting to the corner and mixing them up to death?
I wanted to play her when the game first came out for fun rasslin' times but her gameplan revolving entirely around corner 50/50s turned me off completely.

If she whips you she has to dash into ex peach to get any decent carry so it basically costs one meter now and has less damage. Not really worth the effort when others can just throw hp/hk to confirm into a free corner at any time for no meter.

no it doubled every fireball she did, not give an opportunity to fire another

bought it on release (from a keysite for like half off thank fuck) haven't had it installed for like a year

Its a really fun game, but at this point its time to wait for AE.

they patched the irish whip block stun OS out so no

At this point that's the least offensive thing because that's every characters game plan now. Some characters like urien and laura dont even need a corner for constant 50/50 bullshit so go ahead and play her.

It's a legitimately good game now. Season 2 helped it out a lot. Balance is generally good, new characters are fun to play and they're listening more than they used to. It's the easiest fighting game to find matches (crossplay means it has more players than tekken 7) and it generally feels good to play since they reduced the input delay. You'll only get frustrated if you expect to unlock -every- character for free. Fight money will get you 2 or so per season, so if you want every character expect to pay for the season passes. Hang on though, in January they're bundling all season 1/2 characters and a bunch of free costumes for $40.

It's a good game, but i needs one more mechanic, or just raise the movement speed overall.

3rd strike had parrying, sf4 had fadc, alpha 3 had v-ism but just in general a fast walking speed.

It really needs one more mechanic added, a 2nd v trigger doesn't help.

The V system is better than ultras. I agree though, 4 had both ultras and focus attacks. They could get away with introducing a new mechanic in AE if they wanted to, since the new players they wanted to pick up already have two years or so of practice in.

In a fighting game one of the things i like the most is unlocking characters, but i heard that the grind is heavy. What should i do?

The grind is not fun. Pick up AE when it drops if your interested.

It's legit one of my biggest regrets, but it's good for 20. I'd just wait for Arcade Edition in a few months, though. You probably get bored of the zero content, and you'll be fucked out of the DLC characters if you buy now.

I paid 60$ for this piece of shit. I've been buying my own games since the N64 and this is still the only game where I honestly can say that every single dollar spent was a waste of money.
