After spending years with my old beat up 360 controller, I figured I should treat myself to an upgrade so I bought a new Xbox One S controller from Amazon. Overall it's fine but the analog stick feels really janky. The box has a bunch of Chinese all over it and all the booklets inside seem to be Chinese first English second. Pics of box instead of controller because the controller looks normal and the box is what's making me suspicious. I've bought shit from Amazon at full price only to receive a knock off item so I'm wondering if anybody can help me identify? If it's fake I'll return it and buy one physically in a store.
Sorry if it seems like an obvious yes or no. Been using my 360 controller for many years and don't know much about these new fangled controllers
Bruh if it has chinese all over it, it's obviously a knockoff
Ryan Kelly
True. Bought it online and figured maybe it was genuine and came from China but I don't know why I'm fooling myself.

contact amazon

More than likely it is considering all the chinese shit on it. I bought mine from Amazon but mine had a green box. Do you have any pictures of the actual controller?
Christopher Lewis
I'll take one of the front, back, and sticker. One sec
Hunter Lopez
Figured if it's a fake it's pretty convincing which is why I didn't show any pics of it

It's real, probably just an Asian box.
Gabriel Torres
Yeah I'm almost sure it's a fake the color looks really off and the left and right bumper should be a glossy black instead of matte. The portion around the Xbox button is glossy on my controller as well but I think the newest controller aren't like that.
Asher Gray
thats definitely fake
Aiden Fisher
You shouldn't take the risk, just return and get a new one
Adam James
Hm, many conflicting answers. I'll skeptically assume it's real then but I'm still going to return it because the analog stick has this strange problem like the mechanism itself it rotated. Pushing to the right registers as slightly down and pushing to the left registers as slightly up which I assume isn't normal.
>left and right bumper should be a glossy black instead of matte Sorry, I guess it's not clear in the photo because of the lighting, but the bumpers are gloss.
Yeah, you're right. Problem with Amazon returns is unless you have a very valid reason to return, you gotta pay return shipping which is usually like $5-10. I wanted to determine it was fake so that I could issue it as false advertising.
Charles Ortiz
It's probably just a reject meant to ship to china but got caught at amazon instead, swap it for another one when you can.
James Perry
looks normal to me but I think Microsoft products come with these flashy stickers that say "certified" or something. if the threat is still alive in 5 hours I'll check the one I have at home, it's still sealed in its box
Christian Peterson
thanks user. yeah i read that too and looked all over the box but didn't see anything that implied certification or authenticity. but im not sure if they do that for all their products or if that's a windows thing

>"HELLO FROM SEATTLE" Shit's legit bro
Dylan Myers
Yep fake. The section around the Xbox home button in the top center should be a seperate piece of glossy plastic, but on yours it's the same material and a single piece of molded plastic.
Report to Amazon and get a refund straight away.
Isaiah Reyes
Looking at the battery spot for the one that came with the xbox. Yours is definitely different, there's a lot more chinese characters then on mine. Idk if its a chinese knock off per say, but it's definitely not a legit controller for the american market.
Matthew Evans
It’s real go to Best Buy it’s the same box why didn’t you get a white one though?
Elijah Clark
The part where the Xbox button is should b a good different material, it's a fake.
Noah Ortiz
looks like mine and i got a real one
this
Carson Jackson
If you contact amazon about the seller passing off fakes as the real merchandise they will get fucked and you should be refunded, might not even ask you to send it back
Carson Gonzalez
holy shit is right. send it back
Carter King
you're thinking of the old xbox one controller, the one s controller doesn't have the inlet.
Dylan Ramirez
Alright, I started the return process. Next time I buy one it'll be at Walmart or Best Buy or some other store where they're stocked directly from Microsoft. Thanks for all the help anons.
>why didn’t you get a white one though? Eh just something different honestly
I know what Amazon does to sellers who sell counterfeit items and I have no intention of ruining somebody's business over something they may or may not have been aware about. I'll just return it and take my refund.
Ayden Price
mfw, from seattle with love ITS A BOMB
Dylan Morris
you mean the top section area? i think thats just how the new one s controllers are
pic is from microsoft store and the matted material goes right up to the bumpers
Ayden Sanders
Nah new xbox controllers are one large face plate of the same material.
Michael Torres
Tricky because the bas controller is now white for the S series controllers, but the bumpers really should have been glossy. I think they manufacture black ones in S version but in small numbers. Here, on the picture are two controllers, an original black and an S white. Notice the difference, the original controllers had the top part with the bumpers open while the new ones hide the separating lines but both have glossy bumpers and d-pad. Also the underside of the S controllers has a rougher texture (on the sides inside where you hold it) but you need an original to compare. S should have bluetooth as well for PC.
Still it is very convincing maybe there is a cheaper manufacturing difference for asian countries?

while you're are it, order some new analog sticks for your 360 controller and wipe it's case down with alcohol, did it with mine and they felt like new
Jose James
both sticks have some pretty gnarly drift (have to set deadzone to 0.4 in most games). as far as im aware id need to do some soldering to fix that which im not very experienced in. though fixing it up sounds appealing
I know which controller this is, here in our grey market they sell two types of controllers, the original one is around $45 and the chinese/hk one is $30, it's works just as good as the original one.
Liam Morales
Thanks for the link user. I'd probably buy another 360 controller to do it on first though just in case I fuck it up. Doesn't look as complicated as I figured.
David Smith
I have the black S controller. Looks exactly like OPs except for some of the Chinese on the label (it has the "HELLO FROM SEATTLE" too).
Dominic Reyes
but the "shiny" part of the controller doesnt look right
