Because macross didn't have a good, or even decent, tv series in a fucking eternity, hell even ovas are long forgotten and the last really good one was macross+ which is like two decades old if not more.
Before the games can even become a thing macross need to be revived as franchise, which is not happening any time soon. So your best bet is indie knockoff game like strike suit zero.
