Holy shit we aren't even done with the first year and this track record is fucking incredible. Nintendo is finally back after the absolute shitshow that was 2012-2016.
>Both flagship Nintendo IPs on the switch are GOTY contenders >This isn't even considering their multiplayer games, Splatoon 2 and Arms, which are only getting better and better with their free updates >Even games still coming to the 3ds are showing Nintendo finally gaining some competence with games like Samus Returns demonstrating Nintendo finally knows what the games are looking for
I'm in awe at the complete 180 they have taken since last year. Could you imagine if they keep this up through 2018 and 2019? Or even beyond? Imagine if Metroid Prime 4, Fire Emblem Switch, Switch Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, and Retros game are all this good. The Switch could end up with the best Nintendo library in history. And thats only games that are confirmed already.
Anyone else feel this way? After the WiiU made me despise Nintendo both as a company and game developer, they have finally won me back over.
What? 2016 was there only bad year. The released great stuff in previous years.
Gavin Cox
Completely slipped my mind. Never been a huge Xenoblade fan, but even so, its shaping up to be just more proof that Nintendo is finally back on the map
Jeremiah Rogers
This year was incredible, but I'm worried about next year They still don't confirm big titles for 2018
Owen Price
The entire WiiU era was hot garbage aside from their 3ds shit. 2016 only solidified and really made it obvious just how bad things had gotten.
William Thompson
Nintendo put out lots of quality games on Wii U. Stop being a memeing faggot.
Nathan Hughes
Patience my boy, patience is the key!
Juan Garcia
Don't expect anything else. It's Nintendo, that's all the Switch will ever get. The new FE game next year is going to be garbage too.
Gavin Flores
>one good exclusive >incredible track record
how low have console standards gotten LMFAO
Justin Foster
>Kirby >Yoshi >Pikmin >Retros game >Animal Crossing
All 2018 contenders. I wouldn't be too worried until after the January direct. Even then though, its not unlike Nintendo to hold off major announcements for that year until E3
Julian Sanchez
The Switch would be fucking perfect if Capcom didn't pick now of all times to go full retard and return their high profitable handheld franchise back consoles with a MUH GRAFFIX experience.
It really is a shame, as the Switch would have been perfect for it since it's hardware features are basically a hardware solution to what they were trying to do with 3U's clunky save transfer system. Without having to buy two consoles and two copies of the game too. Japs/portable fags can play it on the go in higher fidelity and better controls, Amerifags and those who don't like playing on the go can enjoy the game on the TV with a proper controller. Sure it wouldn't have been as big of a graphical leap, though it certainly still would have been a big jump from the 3DS, but it would have been a win-win for every kind of Monster Hunter fan in terms of accessibility and play options.
Such missed potential all in favor of chasing that western AAA audience money.
Justin Allen
This.
Alexander Barnes
Splatoon 2 is shit. Babby's first arena shooter that no adult should be caught dead playing. BotW is great but it's a Wii U game. Making Odyssey Switch's first real game and only real game for the foreseeable future.
It's still a one trick pony.
Thomas Ward
>and only real game for the foreseeable future. Xenoblade 2 is out in roughly 4 weeks.
Michael Garcia
SEETHING
Sebastian Peterson
>People once again completely forgetting about the best mario kart ever
I wouldn't even be mad if this was the only MK on the system. Its too perfect.
Camden Martinez
>later XC2 and comfy Kirby and Yoshi If they keep this up it'll become the best console of all time.
Matthew Cook
>i thought the switch was gonna flop >tfw im buying one next week
Cameron Sanchez
You're a fucking moron. lol
Levi Ramirez
They make nothing but kids games.
Luis Campbell
>ONE MONTH UNTIL X
jesus fucking christ what a year for Nintendo
> After the WiiU made me despise Nintendo both as a company and game developer your loss. by far the best games if its generation
Aiden Anderson
I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong for liking these games, but I am curious: Is there any game Nintendo could produce that you wouldn't like?
Logan Martin
A bad one
Easton Adams
Yes.
Basically every single 2016 release with the exception of Mario Maker and Federation Force which I had a soft spot for.
Adam Ortiz
Yoshi and Kirby are easy and boring games and padding out your 2018 release with more 2D platformers isn't a good decision
Julian Evans
Sorry, GOTY is DBZF beta, it's not even close. Literally looks better, has a better OST, and better gameplay then anything this year. I wish it was on the Switch so I could grind on my way to work, but arcsys wouldn't make a sub-30 fighter.
Matthew Garcia
Fire emblem awakening and Fire emblem Birthright
Noah Parker
Quick question that wasn't worth starting a new thread for.
Anybody know if the Gamecube controller support on the Switch works through 3rd party adapters, or only the official Wii U Smash one?
Anthony Campbell
I don't like mobile games very much.
Evan Turner
>The entire WiiU era was hot garbage How can you call Splatoon garbage while sucking Splatoon 2's dick?
Evan Torres
Splatoon 2 is nicely balanced while Splat 1 has way too many invincibility crutches
It has the sort of Ult to win feel OW has.
Grayson James
Forced gamepad.
Any game that requires that hunk of cheap plastic in any capacity can go straight into the garbage as far as I'm concerned.
Thats just like, my opinion though. I know the Wii U has quite a few loyal fans
Jaxson Sanders
Financially, the Wii U was a total disaster for Nintendo and their marketing was a trainwreck. Look at this 3D World trailer youtube.com/watch?v=vZSwQX30DUs, look at those fucking faces in the beginning. No wonder nobody fucking bought this thing.
They did release a lot of good games on Wii U/3DS, but there were some duds that seriously made Nintendo look so out of touch, like Star Fox Zero and Metroid Prime: Federation Force. Nintendo overall just looked really hopeless that gen and it's great to see them wake up and rebound from that mess.
Luis Collins
This shit makes me so mad
Jordan Ortiz
>the complete 180 they have taken
You mean 360? 180 is only a half turn around.
Jeremiah Clark
Agreed, whoever was responsible for marketing the WiiU should have been sacked.
Would have it saved the console? I doubt it, but it would have earned them a couple more sales.
Jayden Williams
I didn't like ARMS or Xenoblade.
Matthew Gutierrez
>Anyone else feel this way? After the WiiU made me despise Nintendo both as a company and game developer, they have finally won me back over.
I am still really skeptical of the Switch, but at least Nintendo released games in a much better order than they did with the Wii U.
Dylan Martin
good side is 90 and the bad is the other side so the other 90
Gabriel Sanchez
>Would it have saved the console?
No way in hell. Marketing aside, the only reason the switch is so successful with the normalfag crowd is because its gimmick is totally based around convenience, with silly tech demo shit put to the side.
Even if it was marketed towards the 20somethings that the switch is, the Wii U was still a hassle to play. 90 percent of the first party games required using the huge as fuck gamepad which was never actually worth the effort to use. Meanwhile the switch is literally just a portable system that plays console games. It doesn't get much better than that as far as a 23 year old guy who is constantly on the move is concerned.
Honestly, from that perspective, the Switch is more desirable than even an Xbox or PS4. Not that those consoles don't have anything to offer, but they just don't bring the convinience that the switch does for playing games.
Jeremiah Cooper
Not that user, but while WiiU had some great games, there honestly weren't THAT many. It easily has the weakest library of any Nintendo console(sans Virtual Boy).
