What went right?

What went right?

Micaiah, Eirika, Ephraim, Sigurd, Seliph, and Roy

Reminder that if you aren't using the latest English patch name translations for FE4, then you need to fuck off

Heroes being a fantastic crossover game between all entries in the series, despite being a fucking mobile game.

Fuck YOU. Its just a shitty mobile game. Where the fuck is my Switch FE?

Dont hate me but Awakening

Without it would FE have shriveled up

No shit, thats a fact even nintendo acknowledged

It's been announced.

Advance Wars built up interest in the west for the turn based strategy games.

Smash Bros built up interest of the characters.

Awakening brought in the casuals who had been scared of by the difficulty of it.

Did you beat Fates: Conquest on Hard?

Did you play it?

No, I don't play games on my phone. What kind of retard would?

Eventually it refocused on waifus, so the series became fun instead of being piss-easy TBS shit with a permadeath gimmick.

Conquest hard mode is nothing. Lunatic is what everyone is taking about when they are referring to difficulty

You're playing video games. You're already retarded.

Roy

Lunatic is for hardcore FE fans, when normal people are talking about difficulty they're talking about Normal, and the fact that you can't grind in Conquest.

Fire Emblem thread?

I like the series for the level design. Moreso than any other TRPG, Fire Emblem games offer creative maps that require different tactics to overcome. I also like the simple calculations and emphasis on resource management.

This, but it's only true for Conquest. I really hope the switch version understands the brilliance that went into Fates when developing.

Fates shows that while they do know how to make amazing FE games, they're also scared not to scare away casuals.

Hoping there's a "No grinding" mode kinda what they did with Casual and Classic mode, and that the game and objectives are balanced to that for FE switch.

I'm playing fe5 and I think I fucked myself
If I kill mareeta in the chapter she fights Eyvel does she not appear in chapter 12?
Is there an action replay code or something to resurrect her?

dragon lolis

You're supposed to capture or stall. I'm not sure what happens if you actually kill her, but 99% sure she's dead.

>only Conquest
Radiant Dawn begs to differ. Sure it had some shit maps like the Tower but overall it's disputably better than Conquest as an overall package.

IS proved that they can make the best games that appeal to everyone with Conquest. Here's hoping they can do it again

She's dead, Jim.

Shame on you. But it's really not such a big deal, she's not that great of a unit. Just don't kill her next time you play. Eyvel won't counterattack when mareeta attacks her so there's nothing to worry about.

Oppai lolis.

>6(six) million years old
>a fucking girl

nigga just make it a proper little girl. no need to sugercoat with that 100000000 year old bullshit.

I love RD but it had a crapload of shit maps and way too many units on some maps

The amount of people who dropped the game halfway through because of how irritating the rest of it was would speak otherwise.
Not saying it's a bad game, but the statement that they're "the best games that appeal to everyone" is flat out wrong.

Radiant dawn begs to be a decent game, fuck off

Staff~ Staff~

Well, except for people who care about story or characters. Which happens to include most people.
It's sad that they haven't had a decently written game since Path of Radiance and even that was nothing special.

Shadow Dragon returning to the basics. New Mystery greatly expanded o n information gives you, Awakening returning skills after a 2 game absence, Fates fixing pair-up while having a causal and hardcore game, Shadows having many combat skills not being skill/luck based, but mostly done by command, Heroes giving the players their character.

Still a game with great gameplay, a (barely) acceptable plot and setting, and multiple great defenses. As an overall package it's just better.
t. japan

Right, I'll correct my statement.
*appeal to true fans and not story/character fags that don't care about gameplay

It's fine. If people can make busty senrans that arent even 10 years old we can have eternal lolis.

>finally beat Conquest Chapter 23 Lunatic in a no DLC grind run after 5 months

I hope the worst part is over.

>people who care about story or characters
When people care about those traits over raw gameplay, they can fuck off to the neogaf threads with the rest of the crossboarders

Alright I can see where this is going.

Save your rescues and draws for endgame.

Why do you have such a problem with it?

Its the same people who see a cat girl and moan because it's not a full blown furry character.

While I think gameplay is most important I think good writing enhances the experience. Best of all is when the storyline is integrated into gameplay. I think thracia in particular does a good job at conveying information through game mechanics.

>Halloween Sakura: Time for your Trick
>Spring Elise: DROWN ALREADY!!!

How did Spring manage to be more edgy than Halloween?

You obviously never played thracia

Out of what I've played
>Radiant Dawn
Challenge, engaging story, really fucking long.
>Awakening
Grima's amazingly cool (not fake robin though), really smooth map selection screen
>Fates Birthright
Ryoma's sword is cool, felt really shitty when the Nohr siblings kicked the bucket, pretty quick "breeze through for a weekend" game
>Fates Conquest
Cool final boss battle, Velouria is cute as fuck, moderate challenge
>Fates Revelation
Everyone can fuck I guess, and the dragon is creepy, also ghostly water soldiers is nice
>Echoes
Great little DRPG gameplay, reminded me of some games I played when I was a kid like Shining Force, engaging story

Speaking of Echoes though, I wanted to know if Zeke should get the Gradivus or if there's a unit that uses it better. I have the Sol as well.

I may have. What makes you say that?

Ike

Not him, it's probably a shitpost, but there's a meme going around where people who like thracia haven't actually played it. I don't know why or how it started.

>Speaking of Echoes though, I wanted to know if Zeke should get the Gradivus or if there's a unit that uses it better.

Mathilda

>Mathilda

She's not really a great unit, that's your dick speaking.

>meme
It's true though. Most people haven't even played Thracia due to shit translation patch yet it has a reputation of being one of the best FE and the hardest.

So Zeke gets the Sol and Mathilda gets the Gradivus?

As a newcomer of FE I am surprised so many people recommend casual mode for awakening. People can play how they want, but unless you are playing on lunatic I don't see anything that can challenge a player.

Unrelated, but I've taken to using Casual just for the convenience of midbattle saves, and just restarting whenever a unit dies.

Says you.

She was stronger than my Alm/Celica.

Yeah thats stupid, the fun of FE comes from the fear of losing a unit, and depending on who you are that's as bad as losing the map.

Newbies should just stick to Normal Classic.

Well if you play on casual you don't really know how the game really is and can't really discuss it on a deeper level, but if all you care about is story that's fine too. If this was EO on the other hand, then I'd say you'd have to pick Hard since that's the default level of all the other games. There's barely any story anyway so there's no excuse.

>challenge
The gameplay mechanics are retardedly broken and lunatic+ doesn't offer any real tactical challenge, you might have to reset due to RNG but choosing the best plan for the chapter doesn't take long at all. There's really no challenge regardless, might as well play normal casual so you can get the boredom over with more quickly.

I'm new to the FE series. I started with conquest, played revelations (it sucked) and echoes. I tried to play Shadow Dragon, but it's so ugly and there's something just not fun about it.

Does anyone have any recommendations as well as fan translations that would be worth a playthrough?

More information on what you like and dislike would result in better recommendations. E.g. your preference for story/gameplay, other TRPGs you like/dislike, what specifically you enjoyed in conquest and echoes.

Start with FE7 as it's a great staring point for anybody.

If you're here for a good story, play FE4, but it's rather difficult for beginners.

Dare I say it, Awakening is also a really good entry point. While the story is alright, the game is perfect for beginners because of Casual Mode. Also waigus.

You could play Shadow Dragon too, but that's alright.

Play all the released games to the west first. I had the same issue with Shadow Dragon, everyone pretty much does. If you hated Revelations you'll probably not like Sacred Stones or Awakening either

So that leaves Fire Emblem (GBA), Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. All 3 of those games are amazing. The difficulty on GBA and PoR are localized, meaning our hard mode is normal mode.

Well put a link to it little fella I ain't got all day.

This. Just remember that if you start with any version of Fates, you go to hell before you die.

You suffered through Echoes but Shadow Dragon was somehow too bad to go on?
Jesus christ.

Tired of this one conquest-kun, post the one with the castle instead.

What does Conquest have to do with this?

Without Waifus Fire Emblem would be rotting right now

Yes we know.

The guy who always posts that image is usually called conquest-kun, I'm not talking about the game. I want the other one showing a Gaiden castle vs a less open castle.

You dont need a translation patch to play a rom, I don't see what that has to do with people liking a game they apparently have not played.

I'm okay with difficulty.
Which fan translation should I play?

I am not big on story, so even shitty stories can keep me going. I'm not very aware of what is "well written" and what isn't. Even for Echoes I thought Celica wasn't that bad, just a little annoying, but whenever I see opinions of her it's always the worst.

I really enjoyed Echoes, the only thing I really wanted was the weapon triangle. I thought the maps in Revelations sucked, and I didn't like the tagteam mechanic in Fates in general.

I thought the dungeon crawling in Echoes sucked up until the Thabes Labyrinth. I thoroughly enjoyed that.

I'm also new to TRPGs. It's something that's a big change of pace for me because I usually play stuff like DMC, Megaman Battle Network, and Dragon's Dogma.

Play FE6 (fan translation + download a save file to start on hard mode), FE7 (download save file for HHM), FE9 (jap rom + english patch for maniac mode), and FE10 (download save file for hard mode).

>You dont need a translation patch to play a rom
No shit? Your post didn't address anything I said. Most FEfags actively avoid playing Thracia in hopes of a good translation patch coming out.

Can't wait for the 6 - 7 remakes with children and MU

If you ask any FE fan in a hivemind community like Sup Forums about FE5 they'll tell you that it's incredibly challenging. But only a very small portion of FE fans have actually played FE5, the rest just parrot what they've heard about it. And the few people who have played it are morons with shit taste, the game isn't actually challenging but everyone thinks it is because parrots keep parroting parrots and few people have actually played it. Reasons for not playing FE5 include the fact that it's an older game without a remake, that you need to play FE4 first, and most importantly the fact that the english patch sucks is something that prevents most people that can't read moonrunes away.

I think that's what he's talking about.

Character interactions.Stuff like Kris trying to tell Mallesia that Marth has been taken for a good while, Lon'qu and Panne helping each other with their issues over bad tasting tea, and Ewan messing with Ross really helps everyone feel more distinguished.

duh

But most people that like it have played it and have even talked about aspects only to have shitposters saying "lol you haven't played it" like >the game isn't actually challenging but everyone thinks it is.
When you played it when it in the early 2000s it was difficult in comparison to other games in the series such as FE4. The whole "lol you didn't play thracia" come off as a shitty deflection for someone looking something you didn't

I don't know what to expect from FE Switch, but I hope it at least gives more love to light and dark magic. Both have the best animations.

>fire emblem switch is the same trash as the 2 last games but now with more waifus
Just end my life please, i hate what this shitty franchise has transformed into.

>I really enjoyed Echoes
That's what I like to hear!

>Great little DRPG gameplay, reminded me of some games I played when I was a kid like Shining Force, engaging story
Yes, yes, very good! I'm glad to see others that enjoyed this wonderful game and don't just write it off because of Gaiden being the "black sheep".

>i hate what this shitty franchise has transformed into.
A waifu franchise? Why do you care so much about this shitty franchise then?

Really now? If you fuck up, just let it go.

Because it was my favorite franchise, i would've loved if awakenings floped and the franchise died, but it didn't and we know got the shithole that fates was, and fucking warriors, the fact that they're adding self-insterts and retarded waifu system makes me angry, because they just don't give a shit about any other aspect, they know that the retarded weebs that like it are only in for the waifus.

Cute princesses who are perfect and meant to be married!

No one's taking away from the old games. It's just being added to. This is literally a non-issue.

But she's on top of her game.

*Cipher

I take it back. This entire post is just bait.

Yeah, i limit myself to not playing any nu-trash, the problem i have is that im a huge faggot and i feel mad that my favorite franchise is getting new games that i will only play once and then feel disgusted after seeing what they're doing to them.

So you limit yourself to the first six games?

Not going to happen

No, i limit myself to anything before fates, i haven't played SoV and i only played the mess that was conquest one time.

If you're actually a real person and not just falseflagging can you tell me what you think of the Langrisser series?
Just curious

>Awakening / Fates is bad meme
Epic!

>7, 8, 9, 11, 13
>not nu-trash
lol

Did you intentionally omit 12?
