Megas were preety cool as in pic related for example, making some older irrelevant pokemons feel good again.
Even if they ruined it by making some megas too fucking OP, like Rayquaza or Groudon I liked the mechanic. What were they thinking though?

I think they wanted the icons of the gen (honestly, besides Blaziken and Mudkip, they only thing they managed to get over were the legendaries) to be more popular.

I liked sapphire and moon the most.

I have fond memories of Silver though. My family went to canadaat the time and it happened to be release day when we got there, I forgot how much sooner but it was like a week before US. I was rubbing it in my friends faces.

Honestly? Probably Gold/Silver. Didn't really bother with the remake versions or the DS games.

Played X and it didn't really do anything for me. At least I beat it. Sun was so boring and hand holding that I never bothered playing after the first gym/trial. Bored me to tears. I think I'm just too old for Pokémon now.

Super had a shitty plot, if at all even. But somehow the final boss managed to be god tier despite there being no build-up. Never sweated that much playing a game before; it felt like i just couldn't lose. Pretty sure I would have just deleted my file, had I lost there.

Much more enjoyable to see the world trough their eyes and going on adventures.
