I bet none of you even played Sunshine. As someone who beat it, I assure you it was good, and STILL holds up

it was good, not great. which is what most sunshine fags get wrong

But I did. Best 3D Mario game if you're not a pleb.

Legitimately don't understand how cucks love Galaxy series over this game.

fpbp

It's my favorite 3D Mario game, 64 fags are just insufferable.

Least fun mario game in the entire series. f.l.u.u.d is annoying to use rather than fun

Beat it and got all 120 shines.

Worst 3D Mario.

best 3d mario for sure. delfino plaza is one of the comfiest hub worlds that exists in a video game. prove me wrong

Good but forgettable. I can remember every SM64 level like the back of my hand. Sunshine had a gay plant and some kind of terrifying stingray?

Not OP, but it's the only mario game i've played that I actually thought was great rather then just good. It's the d mario game where the levels actually best made really effective use of being 3d:

64, which despite ostenbly having "open" levels, were all blatently designed with specific player pathways in mind, and anything not in those pathways had minimal to no opportunities to actually use platforming for traversal and were mostly flat fields with a few enemies or decorative objects. Sunshine, by contrast, actually has true platforming sandboxes.

With the exception of Gelato beach, basically every stage in sunshine has a huge amount of potential platforming pathways and chances to make both vertical and horizontal movement in any direction from any point, and these are seamlessly worked into envoirments that still feel like real locations and not just generic video game levels. There far more chances and opportunities to make use of platforming and for your actual platforming jumps and movement to be "novel" rather then something super blatently designed for you.

Also, Mario in 64 has some movement issues: Doing a 180 degree turn in place can be iffy, doing it in a run absolutely fucks mario's momentum in wierd ways, turning in general has absurd radius's, and in general mario feels a bit too weighty and off balance to be perfect. Sunshine fixes this and mario's movement is extremely tight and fluid and has the right "balance". Also, the long jump is replaced by the spin jump, which can cover just as much horizontal distance (way more in some conditions), but in any direction and covers more vertical space, and you also have sliding and obviously fludd.

100%ing sunshine actually makes for a worse expierence so your opinions shouldn't even count.

If you hated it, why even bother 100%ing?

You should have just beat it and then quit, the worst part of the game is the extra content. I love sunshine, the only inexcusable part is the blue coins that're in the volcano.

This guy BTFO's basically every complaint people have with sunshine. He outright proves that blue coins are a non-issue with actual statistical analysis.:

Skip the first few minutes though, he just talks about his experiences with the game before starting the review.

>in the volcano
try almost all of them

>stand on this exact leaf and manually point the camera up and shoot water toward the moon
literally Simon's Quest tier bullshit.

>me and my brother actually like cryptic bullshit in games and purposefully look for it so we liked it

wow what an objective analysis and not definitely subjective by an actual autist who is in a very small niche

its a great mario game with a ton of content that still left me feeling like there wasnt enough possibly because it lacked significant variety.but it did have the best themed stars with them feeling like they actually belonged to the levels and story themselves instead of just the level design.

I still prefered both galaxy games even though everyone i showed it to for some reason struggled to understand gravity and the world shape.

It controls better than Mario64

>Sunshine is great!
>...except for all the parts that are terrible, just don't play those parts!

>If you hated it, why even bother 100%ing?
autism probably

>actual statistical analysis
yeah nah. What's his point about blue coins?

It has the tightest controls of any platform game possibly ever made, but the levels are rushed and the game is full of missed opportunities.

100%-ed it here.

>this level is satan incarnate

I'm not really a fan of Sunshine but this level gets too much flak. Yes it's tedious to enter but just pack out with a bunch of extra lives and you'll get it done. I can always do it within a few tries.

Only possible if the wii was their first console

I played it back at when it was new and I always liked it. I always thought it was generally liked until Sup Forums which seems to be the one place on the internet that seems to hate it.

...

117 Shines, missing 25 blue coins. It is objectively the worst 3D Mario

>only 7 main levels
>not much platforming outside of bonus stages
>pretty much impossible to die except for bonus stages
>shadow mario chase over a dozen times
>Noki bay deep sea missions
>wonky physics
>way more glitchy than any 3D Mario
>Blue coins are good idea executed badly, I'm glad Odyssey is trying it out again.

And yet I still like it.

I recently went back to it and the amount of bugs, bad design and cut corners is staggering. I liked it okay when it was new but it has aged very poorly technically.

as with every 3d mario, i was cursed to have my save deleted at around the half way mark of stars collected.
man i really hate video games. fuck this place

Yeah, for me the biggest issue is that it's not always clear which surfaces you can walk on, walljump on, and start sliding on. At least it's not an issue all the time

Sunshine? More like fun-time!
(because the game is good)

Wow, OP, you've been playing games since the Gamecube era? You must be, like, 50 years old. Your opinions mean so much now.

Skip to the blue coin part then towards the end at 31:40
