>Classic Sonic is from a different dimension
I bet they really fucking regret this game nowadays, for more reasons than one.

I regretted buying it.
Sonic 4 never existed.
Same, but I'd still like to try episode 2 one day. Enough to buy it? I dunno. It has to be super cheap or a key someone doesn't want.
Reminder that it was originally Sonic The Portable, which means it wouldn't be inaccurate to say they regretted it since before it actually came out.
Episode II was a lot better than I in many ways. I'd probably give it a 67/100.
It's obvious when you actually play it the thing was originally built for a phone. What a fucking disaster.
This game and Heroes are the two Sonic games I think "hey it might be cool to play" and then I do and immediately regret it, shutting it off within five minutes every time
So if Classic Sonic is a different character completely, how did Modern Sonic and Modern Eggman meet? Sonic Adventure (the game where Amy explicitly had a flashback to Sonic CD)? This fucking retcon makes no sense.
i can stomach a lot of heroes, enough that i replayed the whole thing on PC recently, but i've never felt an urge to play sonic 4. i have a very distinct memory of not having fun.
Sonic Team has proven time and time again that they don't give half a damn about continuity.
They'll probably say that Classic Sonic is an doppelganger wisp by the next game.
Different universe; different eggman.
They should just make an actual Sonic 4 anyway with classic Sonic. They did "Sonic The Hedgehog" with modern Sonic, so why not?
Didn't the end of Generations literally imply that it was a younger version of himself?
Why retcon this shit?
Because Sega is still mad a goth australian and some internet romhackers showed them up with a fraction of the budget and team.
Well, Classic Sonic IS younger, but just from another dimension.
We have to assume that Modern Sonic & Tails made a mistake in thinking he was a younger Sonic. Forces has everyone accept that he's a Sonic from a different dimension.
playing forces with nip voices and burg subs it was grating how the localization always wrote tails talking about classic sonic to 'uhhhh i mean the OTHER sonic'
the whole fucking series is a complete directionless clusterfuck of different art styles, locations/settings, tone, etc
apparently these two different alien species co-exist in the same world
I kind of liked the idea that Sonic grew from a quiet but snarky character into a more talkative one. Now that canon has been ruined and made Sonic a little less interesting.
>2D Sonic is completely different from 3D sonic even in the sonic "lore"
The one and only good decision
>different alien species
>surprised they are completely different designwise
they could still have a coheisive art style user
Looking at the two of them on their own, it'd honestly be pretty hard to guess that either of them are from the Sonic series. Black Doom looks like a generic fantasy villain and Zavok looks like he's from the Mario series.
>an alien doesnt look like a different alien
shadow was a stylistic clusterfuck within itself, all the character models recycled from heroes brightly contrasted the gritty environments and black arms.
the game already looks as silly at release as it does in your comparison.
Clashing art styles can often be put to great effect, as Mario just demonstrated with Odyssey. The problem with Sonic is that it all looks like shit.
Odyssey and every Metroid game says no
