3D models cost a lot more time and money than pixelated drawings
You can still play old video games.
incorrect
oh? What do you mean by that user?
Why do you think most animated movies use 3D models instead of 2D drawings?
UNI still has really good looking 2d sprites and animations, though.
Inb4 a million fucking replies to obvious bait.
>still comparing to SF4
>DUDE MY CHILDHOOD WAS AWESOME XD
the 5 millionth thread like this
non sequitur
is this supposed to look any better?
90% of the games I played as a kid sucked dog dick
I only played the good old games as an adult
>no orthographic projection
Why
This is the number one response to anyone proving graphicsfags wrong
Was King of Fighters XIII real pixelart or just rotoscoped 3d models?
Pixelart made by rotoscoping 3d models.
Pretty sure it was just "pure" pixel art as opposed to say Blade Strangers ect...
Rotoscopped. Terry's rigging and animations were even recycled to do the same for Xuan Dou Zhi Wang.
Alpha 3 is the best the game has ever looked and felt, prove me wrong. Third Strike babbies need not reply
I like the look of modern guilty gear even though they changed the aesthetic from xx

It's rotoscoped, SNK's blog says so themselves.
Modern technology has made us lazy. It's the samething as cartoons and anime today. Before we had to do things the hard way and it needed to be good. Now we don't and we can always patch it later.

CvS2 looks better. Or the characters with actual new models do.
The 3D era has never gotten clothes physics right which is why I prefer 2D animation to this day. Stuff like this just has more frames of animation but it has models clipping through everything and just ends up looking jarring.
I agree, but as whole Alpha 3 looks better because the sprites were all designed to work together. Mishmash series like CvS2 or MvC2 lose aesthetic points because it looks like something cobbled together in MUGEN.
Alpha 3 isn't even Capcom's best animation work to date. Their stuff peaked on Darkstalker series.
why
thanks to PC gaming, people can actually experience older fighting games fampai
bullshit
that's not a non sequitur, it's just a false statement
cloth/hair animation in SF is done dynamically based. Basically, you let the computer figure out where it should go based on weight, stiffness and other factors you give the cloth material. Like with anything else in 3D, you CAN hand animate these materials using keyframes, and even do a blend of keyframe/dynamic animation but they don't because they are lazy. Or maybe they think the cloth flowing the exact same way with each jump would look unrealistic. It works fine in sprites but on 3D models it might end up looking jarring.
