9S is very intelligent, he knew what was going on. But it didn't matter. He had just lost Yorha and then he lost 2B. All that he had left now was fighting A2. Just like A2 had nothing left but fighting the machines after she lost A4. Just like the androids and the machines had nothing left to do but fight each others after they lost their creators. All that 9S had ever known was being a soldier for Yorha. He needs to self-actualize somehow but that can take a while. It says in some side material that he has a tendency to go nuclear without 2B. This isn't the first time it happened. Maybe he just cannot live without 2B ever.

Androids don't experience the same "lust" as humans and sex doesn't seem to make much sense for them. They still can do it and they dress sexy but it's mostly because they worship humans and they like emulating them (it is part of "android culture").

9S was mad at A2, but not only at her. If anything, A2 was just a small casualty.

Probably not this late. He hacked the virus out of her very early once, but he couldnt hack the virus out of himself in the tower. I cant remember the corruption %, but it was less than the 96% 2B had in the bridge.

He knew, but he also thought it was pointless. He absolutely hated machines yet he and everyone else of the project were actually machines, and it was all a rigged conspiracy. The humans were dead. His operator and commander were dead. 2b was dead. The twins, villagers, and much of the resistance camp were dead. Pascal was wiped selling certain things. Even if the machines were defeated the humans were never coming back. There was no point thus. He was infected and going to die anyway. He didn't care about the reasoning or purpose, all he cared about was that 2a took 2b away from him. Even knowing that she killed her because of the infection held no meaning as to him everything was meaningless. He just wanted to murder the people who took 2b away, the only person who gave him meaning at that point.

Nier had the same problem. I think they scale a little in Automato. Not sure though. Problem with changing the difficulty level is that it can make a pretty big difference.

BUT the game still hold, and more important, feel fresh compared to so many other games.

OK. From what I gather from the game they are certainly a lot less sexual than humans. But they are so alike humans otherwise they probably could enjoy sex even if they don't have much of a drive.

I acknowledge them. I know they exist. I dont call the game perfect. I know criticism is the key to improvement, and i think taro improved as a director over the years on a technical level. Certainly due criticism on the bad parts of the previous games.
But that doesn't mean the game isnt worth praise for what it does right.

I dont believe anything is perfect, and yet it doesn't stop me from thinking automata (and OG nier for that matter) are masterpieces.
DoD 1 and 3 are great, but too many gameplay and technical flaws to cross the line. I will say that the Final Song in DoD3 has a glorious presentation, even if its grueling hard.

9S motivation to kill A2 was obviously wrong and became even worse by the end of route C but I still relate to him a lot.
Him not giving up no matter what by treasuring memories of 2B (even though it drove him insane after Soul Box) was one of the reasons why Pods decided to rebel at the end.
If 9S would remove his OS chip or just start a peaceful life (which wouldn't last long), he and 2B would never actually be together and N2 most likely would not decide to just fly away.

Out of everything you can grip on automata, you choose sidequests? Why are you even playing a fucking JRPG if you dislike side content?

That video praised the original nier, and og nier had even WORSE quests. Like, much worse.
And yet, the side quests usually arent in the top of the "automata" issues list. Thats because most of them give some world building or tie into the story.
Hell, i can go on and on about some of the most praised games in history such as OoT or FFVII have so terribly long and grindy side quests. And no one cares for a good reason. Its part of the genre, its more content, ths base game is interesting enough.

I just finished this game less than an hour ago. Made sure to do endings C, D, and E.

Is C or D the true ending? Are 042 and 153 rebuilding 2b and 9s? So does that mean they're alive? Will they still have their memories?

D into E is the canon ending. C is an alternative ending where A2 managed to save 9S, thus the pods didnt rebuild no one.

The pod clearly say that they have their memories. They also rebuilt A2 in the side building. They all got one second chance at being happy.
There is a shitload of side content that expand on what happened before the game, and a quick prologue of it all.
