ITT: Series where the second game is the best
ITT: Series where the second game is the best
Metal Gear Solid
You first OP.
I don't know user Dangan's quality is completely reliable on it's plot and characters and I've got to say Ultra Despair Girls did all of that better.
UDG made the critical mistake of trying to put gameplay in a VN series, and suffered for it.
Don't be a V3fag.
Don't assume I am.
It's the only possible conclusion. Nobody thinks 1 is the best, and UDG fucked itself over with shit gameplay.
>Nobody thinks 1 is the best
Aren't you tired of being wrong?
Suffered? I didn't hate the gameplay and the points I made make it more than tolerable.
2 and V3 are both pretty much the first game, but better in every way.
That's just your opinion.
The games went to shit when it introduced supernatural asspulls in the investigations. The first one was less convoluted but it all made sense.
>whole world goes to shit just because everyone listened to some high school girl
The series was always fucking stupid, but later games at least did more interesting things with the stupidity.
...
Everything in the first game could be logically deduced.
However in the second Monokuma breaks the rules of the game by giving one of the participants a disease, yeah it's an asspull, and don't get me started on the elevator murder, that one doesn't have a believable motive.
The first investigation is already fucked.
Hiding the murder weapon in bone is not realistic, so not something you could deduce.
All the detractors say that DR1 was too simple, but in DR2 there was absolutely no thinking required, just guesswork and shock value reveals.
Pic very clearly not related
...
To be honest of all the shitty endings I think the first games ending is probably the best. The mastermind reveal is both shocking and consistent with the game except for the twin sister bullshit. The actual plan also makes the most sense out of the three compared to "Junkoify everyone but doing it under a time limit with half of the people killed off already because I like games" and "Mastermind a killing game but also be an active participant in it thus making it 100 times harder for me to do things behind the scenes without getting caught or leaving blatantly obvious clues".
The first game was insane but it had the benefit of it wasn't trying to one up anything like the second and third games try to do.
>However in the second Monokuma breaks the rules of the game by giving one of the participants a disease
The bugs carrying the disease were on the island from day 1. It's not like Monokuma himself threw a bunch of them at the students.
>and don't get me started on the elevator murder, that one doesn't have a believable motive
The killer did it so that everyone else could escape the Funhouse and not starve to death. How is that not believable?
>Hiding the murder weapon in bone is not realistic, so not something you could deduce
Except it made perfect sense within the context of the game.
I love Junko!
None of the things I stated had any clues about them.
It all came out of the blue.
It all makes sense with hindsight, it just doesn't while you're working the cases.
>Dangan's quality is completely reliable on it's plot
ON THE MEAT BONE
Post Angie
Are you trying to say it isn't? what other reason would you play the series?
This.
The characters and nothing else. The plots for these games have always been nonsensical and retarded, and not in the entertaining either. I refuse to believe there are people who actually cared about the plot for these games
But the characters have always been 1 dimensional and retarded and half the time they are just plot devices.
...
Oh so you deliberate removed part of my post saying "plot and characters" so you could bitch about a fragment of it. Ok. Without the plot the characters wouldn't have the depth that they posses.
I love Kirumi!
But they're fun characters at the very least. Nagito for example isn't that much of a dynamic character yet it's still fun to watch him and his hijinks transpire
...
What depth?
Nope.
