worst kingdom

*mandolino starts playing*

the best kingdom. and yes, the best lava level of all time

Is Seaside the most uncreative water level in videogames?

I thought this was going to be my least favorite kingdom at first, but it's actually one of my favorites. It has a lot of fun platforming. Still the most meh music though.

It may not be creative, but I ended up really liking it. It has a very comfy atmosphere, and I liked how the story mission required you to go to the corners of the map and encouraged exploration. It fit the more open nature of the level, compared to the Sand Kingdom, which was also open but only had one objective, so it felt more like you were just aimlessly dicking around if you went off the beaten path.

No, Lake Lamode is. How can anyone like that level? It's fucking terrible. Just a big, open body of water with some cheep cheeps swimming around for you to capture, and an underwater tunnel with a few corners. Seaside has a lot more complex underwater environment and there's a bunch seaweed attacking you, and the surface has those water bubble enemies that shoot you.

It's not a lava level though. Just because the cooking sauce is hot, doesn't make it lava.

Lamode's got a nice atmosphere, but that's about it. There's practically nothing to do there. Even the post-game cube barely adds any more moons to the area, and most of them are just floating in the middle of nowhere or require you to wear different outfits. It's more like the tutorial for Seaside Kingdom than a Kingdom in and of itself.

Nah. Starshine Beach Galaxy from SMG2 is easily the worst level in any 3D Mario game.

The lake has nice aesthetics but yeah, it's the weakest level. I would've preferred a ghost house or spooky level instead of that borefest.

Seaside Kingdom is one of the best water levels I've ever played. Lake's the worst Kingdom tho

Just wish it had great music like Seaside and Wooden. And less need of fireballs to go around, and more plataforming "paths"

Rayman did it first.

But it had one of the best tracks user.

Did it? What is the name of it?

It was good though sounding a bit too much like something out of crash bandicoot

Nhee, it kind of remember me of Crash (I dont know which one because I dont play those games in so many years). It doesnt really fit too well in that low polygon and food theme. If I didnt knew it was this Kindom's music, I'd probably guess it was from the stone age one

The stage is a volcano user.

This, and then Legends did it again.

The volcano is part of it, but the theme is still food world with low poly aesthetics, isnt it (thats just detail, but it is a memorable one). Or are you trying to say that the music fits it well by telling me that a volcano and a jungle or a stone age theme are more and less the same thing? I dont get the point...

They aren't low poly holy shit, they are food rocks. The world is a volcano, the world is called Mount Volbono. The volcano is spewing sauce lava and the low poly food are food rocks.

the pink substance is lava, don't be autistic

Was the Darker Side easier than any other final/secret level of all Mario games or am I just getting older?

It wasn't so much that it was easier, it was just much shorter. There were only like segments.

3 segments*

Yes, they gave you so many chances to boost/restore your HP. The area you posted was the only time I got hit throughout the whole stage.

Seaside was too big, Lamode too small.

it was certainly much more pleasant to play through.
I can't say I didn't enjoy this much more as a sort of wrap up for a game, either.

Yes. It is the lava world, but the focus doesnt need to be the volcano...

Agreed.

>hijack Podoboo
>have to use it to squash tomatoes to create hotspots to lilypad across dry platforms
>miss
>Podoboo goes away
>but you nicked the tomato so it still turns into a hotspot
>now exposed, Mario lands on the hotspot

RRRRRREEEE FUK THIS WORLD

should have ended with the harder bowser fight and have no health pickups

Trial and error platfomers are dog shit.

nothing is trial and error, even the wall jump climbing part had rings to guide you telegraphs its next move

I don't know why, but I feel a little underwhelmed with the game. It's everything I wanted and Mario has the best controls hr's ever had, but something feels off... Maybe it's because I watched so much footage of it.

That's probably it, I went in mostly blind and loved every minute.

yeah, it's easier than champion's road and 3d land's final level

plus you can skip entire sections really easily

I think Galaxy set the bar too high with the "crazy" level design and Odyssey felt too "normal".

I felt like Odyssey was way more fun than Galaxy to go trough...

When the game is too easy, no matter how spectacular it is, it won't feel rewarding. It's more like you're taking a tour, than overcoming an obstacle.

Yeah.

I really want a "lost levels" for Odyssey, especially if it doesn't focus as much on the capture mechanic. The platforming was good, but virtually nothing in the game required you to actually do it.

The bird segment after your pic is fucking me up a bit. I can't seem to get the timing right for the interlocking moving panels and having to play through the entire thing again for another attempt is annoying me

These objectives confused me at first. I couldn't figure out why the things I put on the board were disappearing.

The only thing that I can suggest is getting the maximum jump height on the first one, flicking just before the boards creak, and don't touch that control stick after flicking. Just tap Y after the flick and don't panic.

You mean Kirby.
