Simply put, they fucked up. They expected the Switch would crash and burn like the Wii U, so they gave the system some scraps because Nintendo asked nicely and they thought that would be it.
It would be nice if they followed Bandai Namco's example and downright admitted that they misjudged the situation, but they probably won't.
