What would a crash in the video game industry entail?
What would a crash in the video game industry entail?
No more games.
there would still be games, they don't just all poof out of existence
All the major publishers and developers going under.
so, unlikely.
Some people think we are already in a crash.
Why do they think that?
It would just be a consolidation as financially strong companies buy out the struggling ones. At the end, EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard, etc would just be even more powerful
The closest anything has to crashing at the moment is bloated AAA shit that's barely financially viable and is propped up with season passes, microtransations and lootboxes.
>Why do they think that?
Because retards prefer to believe what they want instead of in facts. Vidya revenues, profits, and penetration are at an all time high and still growing
People hoping for a magical reset are delusional.
Hollywood has their claws in games. It's never going to revert back to just small studios unless there was a massive entertainment collapse on a global level.
>SJW's, dykes, hambeasts, minorities, and literal faggots make games
>the """"""""superior""""""" white males of Sup Forums can't
If you think vidya is so bad, make your own games. Surely it would be a massive success since your game would be vastly superior to trash being made nowadays
>thread about the industry itself
>bring your bullshit into it
I suppose the bait is to point out to you all the legacy games still being played but the correct response is to tell you to get lost and shitfling somewhere else.
>CoD rakes in $500 million in the first week
>Quake only has a few dozen people playing
You sure showed me
Pedowood
>still projecting like an imbecile
Positive things.
Multiple IP's getting acquired by megalocompanies so that the stupid masses would finally buy them,
Underaged shitposters leaving this forum because videogames fell out of vogue in the interim,
Executive fuckheads from all nations getting their just desserts and losing millions on top of a shattered ego,
It'd be fantastic.
This, crashes don't happen. Our economy has crashed worse than the great depression but it never reached that level of despair. Crashes wont happen on those levels again. We'll see a market shift more than anything else. Those thinking that a crash would be a good thing for videos games are just as delusional. Companies would just double down on selling to the masses instead of the core demographic.
It can happen technically but we'd need shit so off the charts impactful it's really just saying it for the sake of exercise.
Nuclear war for example.
there's a theoretical upper limit to which games can grow, the market will be saturated or covered so fully the big companies will be stuck trying to outcompete eachother with diminishing returns.
i can't say it will crash completely but it will definitely stagnate to the point they will have to reduce their operations and there will be a period of recession. Movies already experience this.
At the current rate they can go on selling 60 dollar lootboxes to the population of gambling addicts instead of making entirely new games.
no entire crash will happen again - the industry isn't as small anymore with just one company at the top
similar why a movie industry crash won't happen
A major AAA game or company going too far and destroying the age of microtransaction and all the shit that has been plaguing the vidya for the last 10 years.
What would happen if Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and Valve were to all collapse at the same time?
Trump buys all their IPs and makes every new game feature him in some small, positive way.
