The TV is dying. The PS4 has only sold as well as it has because Microsoft knows this and never really cared about the console market to begin with, so the PS4 has cannibalized the Xbox market. What will Sony do when there's nothing left for them to cannibalize and the TV is even more irrelevant than it already is?

The Switch is geared for that future. Microsoft is geared for that future with their focus on the PC and smart devices. Sony has nothing.

What does the PS4 have? Bloodborne and Persona 5 are the two games I can say that are "worth" buying a PS4 for but Persona 5 is playable on RPCS3 and Bloodborne is just "okay".
Well, now Yakuza is just playing Port Catchup time, and Automata is okay, but with those mods you should be able to play it on basic hardware.

I'd say so, even with the "no first party games" meme you can get an Xbone for about $140 and get 99% of the PS4 games or get the X and get those same games that look better than the Pro.

If Sony were smart, they'd develop an adjustable PS controller attachment for smartphones that unlocks PSN access and start porting over everything to Android/IOS.

Then they wouldn't need to compete with Nintendo, they'd have the lion's share of the market to work with, and a constantly improving hardware base to develop for.

It wouldn't take much for anything to outperform a switch.

All big devs are already doing this, Squenix being one of the better example, they've already ported the entire FFXIII trilogy on Android earlier this year, plus some other titles like The Last Remnant, Sony would literally just need to do a PSN service for Android devices and the devs would flock to them as they always do.
