>our premium, slightly higher-quality console model has been out for a year and isn't selling well
>our competitors have just released their own premium console model and it's better than ours
>the people who haven't yet bought one of our consoles are interested in the premium model, but put off by the price tag
>Black Friday is right around the corner
>let's not put it on sale
>not even one fucking penny off
Please someone explain this decision to me. Please.
Our premium, slightly higher-quality console model has been out for a year and isn't selling well
Standard Sony.
>Please someone explain this decision to me. Please.
Easy. This is not true so there is no reason for the price to drop.
>our premium, slightly higher-quality console model has been out for a year and isn't selling well
They've given the Pro the Vita treatment. You can still buy one if you want, but they're offering no encouragement for people to do so.
It isn't going for $200? A lot of places are advertising $300 as the normal price.
>Please someone explain this decision to me. Please.
You suck at business and would easily lose it all if you were to ever be in charge of such a thing.
Quit being stupid as fuck and at least go back to grade school cause god damn are ya dumb.
Perception matters alot for some reason in business. If hey were to cut the price of something that aint be out for long like the pro model. Well that will look bad to begin with. Aside from that they are probably hoping/counting on that people will still just buy pro with out a price cut during black Friday as well as the coming holiday season so they are putting all faith in that time frame making up for the slow start it seems to be having.
>>our premium, slightly higher-quality console model has been out for a year and isn't selling well
But it's not. The Pro sales make up only about 20% of PS4 sales, according to some thing released earlier this year.
If the Pro not getting any kind of deal for black Friday isn't convincing to you, then what about all these new games coming out that offer no Pro enhancement whatsoever? Remember when Sony mandated that all games released after a certain date would be enhanced for PS4 Pro? The reason that's stopped is because it's not selling.
I have a Pro, I bought it on release day and sold my launch PS4 to my friend. The games that do take advantage of it generally make it worthwhile, even though I only play at 1080. But there's definitely no good reason for someone looking to buy a PS4 right now to even bother with the Pro since there's no support for it anymore.
regular PS4 is $300/$200, Pro is $400.
easy, the direct competition is $100 more expensive and PS4 has more free/freemium games.
>But it's not. The Pro sales make up only about 20% of PS4 sales
And you think this is not a whole lot? Dont forget that the PS4 is selling really well so 20% is great for a product that cost almost double the price of a PS4.
But if the numbers are so good why has support for it seemingly stopped?
The PS4 Pro is the most pointlessly, poorly handled idea for a console ever
>let's make a more expensive version of our console that everyone already has
>let's make it just slightly more powerful but have almost nothing be compatible with the performance boost
>offer absolutely no reason for anyone that already owns a PS4 to buy one
what's the fucking point?
all new big boy games are enhanced for pro, they just stopped giving the player the option to toggle between 1080p/60fps and 2160p/30fps and just went with upscaling to 4k and smoothing out the framerate and faster loading.
>>let's make it just slightly more powerful but have almost nothing be compatible with the performance boost
Everything you play on a Pro gets a performance boost thanks to boost mode. The real problem is Sony is no longer requiring devs to specifically take advantage of the Pro's additional specs. There really haven't been many games this year that offered any kind of real PS4 Pro enhancement outside of a slightly more stable frame rate.
>why has support for it seemingly stopped?
What?
I honestly only bought the pro because of the large hard drive size, and heat dispersing capabilities. The larger size means larger heatsink/fans. Less noise.
Doesn't help that the fucking Disc drive is insanely loud though. Whatever. I enjoy it and money isn't an issue. Still bummed there is/will be no PS4 pro optimized Bloodborne. FPS in the teens with motion blur enabled literally makes me motion sick. I don't want 4K. Just give me a stable 40-ish to 60fps at 1080p for fucks sake.
>And you think this is not a whole lot?
That was 20% of sales back in I believe April.
So from October 2016 to April 2017, the Pro made up 20% of total sales, or in other words, less than 1 million total sales.
DUDE IM AN ARMCHAIR SALES AND MARKETING ANALYST LMAO
You can't get 60 fps on the pro?? At 1080p I thought the hardware was more then capable of that
>October 2016 to April 2017
>less than 1 million total sales
PS4 only sold 5 million from October 2016 to April 2017?
Dont reply when you know nothing.
Only if the game was designed with Pro optimization in mind. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn will do 60FPS at 1080p but games made prior to the Pro coming out will run how they do on the regular PS4.
They still don't want to admit they went for the 4k market too soon. Like 3-5 years too soon.
It's the fan that's loud. I play a lot of digital games and you'll never hear if unless you're doing long play sessions.
>>our premium, slightly higher-quality console model has been out for a year and isn't selling well
>An interview with PlayStation executives from Europe and America has revealed that the PlayStation 4 Pro accounts for about 20 percent of PS4 systems currently being sold.
>When talking to Glixel, the CEO of Sony Entertainment Europe Jim Ryan, stated that the success of the PS4 Pro exceeded the company's expectations, with the PS4 Pro accounting for nearly one of every five PS4s sold.
>"We were confident about the product but have really been taken aback by how well it's done," Ryan said. "Almost one in five PlayStations sold since that launch in November has been a Pro. That's significantly ahead of our expectations. We're feeling pretty good about that."
Not to mention that not everyone has 4k tv's at home, so yeah, it's pretty pointless.
He's retard. Don't bother.
Barely anyone has a 4k tv. I don't know what they were thinking. You can't put the cart before the horse.
>that everyone already has
Are you trying to tell that every gamer buys console when it's 3yr old max and later everyone has is and it don't sell at all? That's some niew magic maybe?
better than a low effort shitposter
>no support for it anymore
So I guess that Evil Within 2 patch that unlocked the framerate on PSpro was just a figment of my imagination?
>Please someone explain this decision to me. Please.
>PS4 has a bigger player base
>PS4 has more exclusive games
>The Pro is already $100 cheaper than the X
Obviously the X is more powerful but the Pro has more games to offer and the chances are high that yours friends have a PS4 rather than a Xbone.
It's basically the same reason as to why the Switch has been doing so well. It has a lot of exclusive games and you can take those games on the go too. A lot of people don't care that it's not as powerful as the PS4 or Xbone, they just want to play Mario and Zelda.
it better be on sale as I'm looking to get one during black friday
You can get it on any console you fucking idiot. It depends on game.
same thing when the ps3 was released , barely anyone had a 1080p tv. Not like the ps3 could do 1080p , not like the ps4 pro can do 4k
What games are pro enhanced?
