When will DQIX get its remake?
When will DQIX get its remake?

I need it on the switch.
Literally the best DQ game, with just 1 friend it turns from OK to God Tier.
2-3 years
It's the first and only Dragon Quest I've played, I played it by myself and really liked it. A lot of those early quests are sad as fuck.
Imagine all the fun we could have with online support.
Playing with you guys could be cool.
Holy fuck, how do I emulate like this?
Hopefully they're working on it now, and it will have online play.
>user I need healing
>PRATFALL
DQIX is trash, likely the worst in the series, why even bother?
Why is it trash?
Shit single player and boring and repetitive postgame.
I'll agree with the boring postgame, especially with the online being dead. However...
>Shit single player
Explain?
What is there to explain? The game repeats the episodic stories formula of VII edpecially but most of the self cointained stories are completely forgettable, and incredibly formulaic. Then midway through the game this evil empire pops up, there's an hilariously out of place cutscene where you ride a dragon for some reason and then you go and fight poor man's Psaro. In all of this the only notable character is a gyaru fairy, and all the rest is completely bland and flavourless. The single player has no charm nor soul, and it felt it was lazily put together to justify the postgame.
I don't fully agree, but I do see where you're coming from. I actually really enjoyed the first half of the game quite a lot (until About 5 fruits in) and started feeling underwhelmed and tired afterward. I also really did not dig the class change system. It felt way too grindy to change class just to optimize each characters and have to start back at lv 1 each time. Also some of the classes like the armamentalist were way too bullshit to unlock.
Can't really talk about the postgame that much. I actually didn't really bother when I learned that some content was unobtainable because no more online so I pretty much dropped the game after the end game boss and two or three dungeon bosses.
>be kid
>dark as fuck
>about to fight wight knight
>he does this and proceeds to wipe my party
>I also really did not dig the class change system. It felt way too grindy to change class just to optimize each characters and have to start back at lv 1 each time.
Because it's designed for infinite postgame grinding. You don't even need to reclass for beat the single player. And the armamentalist wasn't too bad but for example I never unlocked Luminary because you needed stuff found in a postgame grotto and I got tired of that shit after a while.
Also, should we mention the MMO tier sidequests, like gather 10 x or beat y monster using the z move 20 times? Fuck that shit.
I'm literally waiting on this. I have no reason to believe that Squenix won't remake it, if only because Nintendo WFC went down so a lot of the game content is gone.
The online isn't dead. The multiplayer in this game is wireless local. Only the stuff related to the inn is dead.
why would anyone want this?
why?
its the wrost DQ
modern emulators allow you to increase the resolution for 3d games, desmume now allows this natively
And those rare orb drops from bosses you had to level up and defeat hundreds of times to have a CHANCE of forging the ultimate weapons
This game puts MMOs grind to shame
no, it's the breast
Didn't they just remake I-III?
Hopefully they'll jump straight to IV.
its mmo tier trash
>Literally the best DQ game
No. They clearly focused too much development time on online and put the story on the backburner because DQIX goes from unrelated scenario to unrelated scenario before it decides to introduce an antagonist 95% of the way through the game and the final boss 99% of the way through the game.
Every Dragon Quest game has had at least one remake except for IX and X.
Kid? DQIX? I was in college when that game came out and that was only maybe 8-9 years ago. Holy shit.
I've heard that some ultra rare weapon had a really small chance of being created when fusing 2 also rare materials in the alchemy pot.
Only autistic people can enjoy this stuff.
>so a lot of the game content is gone.
There wasn't that much content user.
I never played this one. How does the online work?
There was no online you dumbos the multiplayer was local.
Online was to download the DLC quests
didn't you share characters kind of like how it works in dragons dogma?
game had no online outside of dlc content you fool. It did have what was the best iteration of couch co-op for turn based JRPG content.
Chilling with bros watching some movie marathon and running around doing one dudes story content and then leveling an alt job for your guy. Shit was so cash.
Online was basically just downloading a few quests.
None of the content was actual dlc, all of it is on the cartridge. You can use the save editor to mark all of the 'dlc' quests as available
No. As people have said co op was local only. Online was dlc quests and online shop.
Its an easy remake for switch could sell 5M again in Japan with proper online.
But SE is retarded remember that FF5 remake for DS that never happened
to play devil's advocate, all the little vignettes and the main plot connect together thematically.
everything is about the emotions of mortals and their struggles, and how they can create both beauty and strife. Seeing all this, the main character decides that they are worth saving and has no qualms becoming a mortal for their sake.
not to say they aren't forgettable, though.
No? The versions released recently on PS4 and 3DS are like two decades old ports
it just makes a slightly weaker version if it doesn't
you don't really have to get it if you don't want to.
haha hey guys remember when japan went apeshit because they changed the battle system and they had to switch back to the old battle system?
4-6 were on DS, alongside 9 on DS.
they just did 7 and 8 and 3DS
I love being able to co-op with my friends in this game. There's something about DQ that makes me love it more than other RPGs.
Hey, they weren't that forgettable. I still remember a lot of them. Particularly that doll one...
I think that one scrappy town with robbers and poor people should've had more/some content though.
>spend hours killing metal slimes so you can spend hours killing bigger metal slimes so you can spend hours killing bigger metal slimes so you can spend hours killing bigger metal slimes
>finally decide to fight the final boss
>he dies like a bitch because I'm so over levelled
They're not the SNES versions. Look them up.
I agree you just kind of walk through, see ghost lady, and move on.
I think the reason was because you go to Heights of Loneliness next, and it wasn't really necessary to tie that dungeon to a specific town besides the village he sculpted.
a lot of the other games have forgettable towns where nothing happens, though.
try the legacy bosses on for size
Did I say they were? And actually, III is the SFC version. I and II were brand new remakes old mobile phones in Japan, with III just being ported from SFC with half it's content gutted. All three of those were ported to smart devices later on. This is the reason why I and II have such horrific scaling issues.
And then all three were once again ported to PS4 and 3DS just recently.
However, I did say two decades, and that was wrong. More like a decade and a half.
Fuck no
Why? It's quite literally the worst DQ. It's only saving grace was that you can dress your toons up as actual memorable characters from previous titles.
Yea and then level 5 used what they had to make Fantasy Life
I'd buy a Switch if they remade my favorite DQ title. It was a major timesink and I preferred making my own heroes instead. The legacy bosses were a good challenge when the base bosses became cakewalks.
>toons
And later still the knack world
>Square is "aggressively" making Switch titles now
>yfw they revisit the idea of DQ9
Where the fuck did toon even come from anyway?
grandmothers watching her kids play the nintendo
>Toons
Opinion discarded. Truly a pleb.
I bought the cart for this but it's still in my backlog. It'll be my first DQ game. I hope it's good.
>desmume now allows this natively
It takes a giant performance hit with most games though, and for reference, Mario 64 DS plays horribly with audio glitches on my 5Ghz 4790k at only 2x native
You know, a while back, I remember that Monster Hunter Portable 3rd G had private servers that if you were savvy enough, you could hook up with friends over the internet. How do we go about doing that for this game?
Literally every single non-cutscene NPC is a 2D sprite and rendering the game in high res makes it all the more immediately noticeable and look like utter dogshit.
As fuch, DQ9 is one of those games that don't look good emulated in high res due to asset clashing.
Are the PS4/3DS versions fixed scaling wise or still fucked like mobile?
They're still screwed. Square does not give a single fuck.
That's a terrible way to get into the series.
Get IV, V or VIII for 3DS.
You download a save editor and click "unlock DLC quests"
>They're still screwed. Square does not give a single fuck.
Why are you lying you piece of shit? Only the 3DS ones are fucked, for some reason the PS4 versions don't have fucked scaling.
No, you dumbass. I mean playing with other players, not unlocking the online content. Portable 3rd only had local ad-hoc wifi. You could only play with other players in the room. But someone set up a program that let you play with others across the internet.
Oh wait, that's DQ3, apparently DQ3 wasn't fucked, only 1 and 2 were on mobile.
Pic related is DQ1 on PS4, yep, it's still fucked.
>HOW DO YOU WANT YOU REMASTER FAMALAM?
>JUST
FUCK
>tfw put in over 999 hrs in DQIX
MY
Why the FUCK is the GBC version still the best version for English speakers? This shit is old and already translated.
SHIT UP
>Why the FUCK is the GBC version still the best version for English speakers? This shit is old and already translated.
SNES remake is the best user, GBC is literally just a gutted version of the SNES one with extra intro cutscenes which you can just fucking watch on Youtube.
Minus the bugs that crash the game, of course.
Why didn't they just use the old sprites?
>Minus the bugs that crash the game, of course.
>this bullshit lying again
The fantranslation for the SNES version is perfectly fine you lying sack of shit.
>this guy again
that's pretty bad, but at least it's not this
I'm here in every Dragon Quest thread, and I will save some poor suckers interest in this corpse of a series because I didn't let them play a version where they get 90% through the game and have it permanently fuck up on them. Your nonchalant attitude towards the issue is alarming.
Just job inserting your foot into your mouth, dick jockey.
The new sprites aren't the problem, the Japanese mobile remakes for 1 and 2 were objectively superior, the ones for old phones before smartphones were a thing.
But then, during porting from the original non-standard aspect ratio of old phones to modern smartphones, they for some reason rescaled all the tiles (map textures) with a nearest neighbour scaler and COMPLETELY FUCKING JUST'ed their aspect ratio and the result is the abomination you see.
The character sprites are actually fine on mobile since they didn't rescale them, but for whatever retarded reason they added Blinear Filtering to them in 3DS and PS4 version which makes them look like utter shit.
Basically, 3DS/PS4 version is even worse than mobile.
I got it for really cheap a while back and already have started.
Does Squeenix just not give a solitary fuck about quality control?
But somehow they managed to not fuck up 3. I wonder why? It's more than just a port, if the fancy new sprites are anything to go by.
Then again, I heard they still fucked it over in other ways. Something about no combat animations and no pachisi tracks.
You are literally in every thread LITERALLY FUCKING LYING just to shitpost with your autism. I bet you're actually XV-kun, kill yourself.
Just fucking savescum it, the alchemy pot doesn’t force a save on you
Not on their mobile games.
1 and 2 were straight up remakes on those old phones, and actually are superior in every way to SNES version as long as you talk about the old Japanese phone originals because they didn't have butchered aspect ratio for tilesets, and still had all the mechanical improvements such as the invisible bullshit in DQ2 being marked with glitter and some other quality of life stuff and of course orchestral music.
DQ3 was a straight port of the SNES version with animated sprites and extra content removed due to (back then) phone hardware limitations not being good enough so assets weren't fucked with on that one.
DQIX was my first DQ game and it got me hooked. After playing most of the other games in the series, it definitely had the weakest story, but it's still fun and you'll probably enjoy it. If you don't though, don't be discouraged from trying other entries (like IV, V, VI, VII, or VIII) since I will admit they are better.
This is just the most popular and well documented glitch. There are several others in 2 alone. 1 is also prone to glitching, but due to the save system is not AS prone to permanently fucking up a save like 2 is.
You literally do not know what you are talking about and have been BTFO'd every single thread.
If you did your research you'd know only the DW patch is fucked, the DQ one is fine.
a ten year old who played the game when it came out can post here without breaking rules old man
Is this the Dragon Quest thread?
I'm playing DQ8 for 3DS and I'm almost done with the new post game, and holy shit Memories Lane is some of the most infuriating bullshit I've ever put up with in a game. What kind of sadist designed these bosses? How did you like it?
The differences were already really obvious on the original hardware, but if you emulate you can at least use shaders to help smooth out the differences a bit
Too bad for you, turbonerd, I only PLAYED the DQ version because I don't have nostalgia for DW at all.
Pic related. My emulator loaded up with DQ1&2 with an end game save file and my initials as the file name. Yes, I suffered through a glitched out ROM. I regret every single second of it.
>DQ1/2/3 mobile is objectively best in terms of translation, being bug free and gameplay improvements
>but it also has fucked up tilesets in DQ1/2 and gutted some extra content in DQ3 as well as monster animations
FUCK my OCD can't decide if I want to play SNES or mobile because of this.
I played all the translated games in the series except 1-3.
FUCK
no, fuck you DQ9 is my favorite.
