Did you like Velvet's game?

When's the next tales announcement?

Tales games take around 20-36 months to make since they’ve been on HD consoles. Approximating roughly from where they’ve claimed they started on each HD console game, and when they released:

Vesperia: Late Spring 2005 - Late Summer 2008
Xillia: 2008-2011
Xillia 2: 2011-2012
Zestiria: Winter 2011 - Winter 2014
Berseria: Fall 2014 - Late Summer 2016

With this in mind, and considering the next game will be their first next-gen game in many years and may require some extra planning and research (see the slightly extended cycle Vesperia had), I’d say the next game may have entered the planning and pre-production phase in 2015, started full development in 2016, and is planned to release Fall/Winter 2018.

So we’re getting close to an announcement I’m sure, but theres still a bit of a wait left.

Imagine if they spent 4-6 years on a new game like other big JRPG series have. It might be the GOAT assuming the story could avoid falling into predictable Tales tropes (although Berseria did do a pretty good job with its plot).

Dropped it at some point, I think it made me hit the point where I just couldn't stand tales of games

I thought the story was cool and the roster was one of the best from the series but the fucking gameplay was so bland

Old habits die hard, the writers wanted to step in another direction and do something different but the staff bitched too much. Berseria escaped it because of the new producer telling the staff to shut the fuck up and get back to work.

I only played the demo, I genuinely hated the combat system and I'm a huge Tales fan, including the modern titles.

Most hated it too, Berseria flopped for a reason. After two flops in row Tales Studio had to take a break and voila, no new Tales this year.

I liked it. Never expected Laphicet to be Maotelus and it was a nice way to have a connection to Zestiria.

It also gave a possible hint at a Zestiria/Berseria sequel. Since we know that Sorey purifies Maotelus at the end of Zestiria, we could have a sequel with a mixed cast of Berseria/Zestiria characters.

I was under the impression that it sold better than anticipated. Also the combat wasn't the reason it stuttered in sales at the outset.

Eleanor could come back as a seraph. Rokurou isn't dead. Velvet is still sleeping, and Phi is Maotelus.
The only dead Berseria cast are Magilou and Eizen.

From Zestiria's end Rose and Alisha are both dead (nothing of value was lost) and they likely won't be brought back as seraphim. Everyone else is alive.

Laphicet is still there, Velvet is still eating Innominat, and Rokurou hasn't been confirmed dead yet and daemons live forever. Only Magilou, Eizen, and Eleanor are confirmed dead. And I somehow get the feeling they could always pull Eleanor back as a Seraphim as they said that humans that were pure could become Seraphim.

Berseria was shit. Combat was shit, story went to shit after the second half, and the only reason it gets praised on here is because people want to fuck Velvet. Tales hasn't been good since Versperia.

Yes and then no. Starts to lose the edge warming up to the rest of the party then the writing shits the bed and she loses all character development and becomes an edgelord again

She get one of the most heartbreaking scenes later on when she achieved maximum edge but somehow able to overcome that

I really doubt they'll reuse characters in a main game if they can't literally copy paste them, especially if they can't reuse all of them because then that's playing favorites.

If you want crossover antics between the casts, that's what the side games are for.

Graces f, Xillia and Xillia 2 are great games.

Wrong. Graces F had the worst story in the entire series. Xillia 1 was flat out boring. Can't speak on Xillia 2 because Xillia 1 put me off so much I didn't bother with it

Why not? They're done it before and besides Sorey, Mikleo, Velvet, and Edna are ridiculously popular. Hell with the exception of Rose and Alisha they've been doing really well.

I didn't particularly hate it, but it hit the tropes a bit TOO hard in regards to Asbel and Richards relationship. I guess I can see why some would, but I don't think it's worth spazzing out over or anything. But that's just me.

and no, i expected a shit ending, which is what i got. i spent the whole game learning why these characters that looked like morons and completely unfitting together were together, and then when i finally found out what i thought to be the reason and began to love them, in the end it turns out "haha it's just cause we needed some cute anime girls and guys!"

I played Link a little bit and got bored of it incredibly fast.

Graces is a mixed bag of good and bad and gets way too much praise for it's combat for the amount of stupid shit it pulls. Xillia is mediocre for a mainline Tales compared to Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia at the time of their release but it's perfectly serviceable and playable.(more than you can say about the initial release of Zesteria for the PS3 back in January 2015)

Well then they don't need to copy paste them. The epilogue of Zestiria was a way bigger timeskip than Xillia 2 or DotNW. So they can give them new abilities and rework how they fought if they really wanted to.

Honestly the cast is pretty good.
Velvet is edgy as hell, hilariously so, but aside from Laphi the other characters are kind of assholes too, so it evens out.

No defending that costume though. She goes from simple country folk clothes, to rags, then to a coat and bits of metal held together by string, i can't stand it.

I miss the days before costume DLC ruined everything forever

I put on Velvet's village clothes and just acted as if it was her canon outfit. It worked surprisingly well.

My point is that if they're making a new game from scratch they should make a brand new cast to go along with it. Adding half the cast from the previous ones would just feel half assed because we already know everything about those characters.
At most I could see them bringing one character back under a different name like Judas. They could do that by turning a human into a seraph, but doing that with more than one character would make their roles in the party overlap.

She gets a moment in Rays where her and eizen spend some time together.
Also Sara from Link is gonna be playable in Rays

Well, she is part beast/demon so it's not too crazy. You can get alternate outfits pretty early in to the game so if her clothes bother you it's not the worst
