Armor really isn't that heavy, and that armor wouldn't be much for horse that well muscled. The armor in the pic looks like either steel or mithril, either of which aren't very heavy. Regular iron would weigh a bit much though.

Horsies were usually muscular and wore a chain coat with plates. Their job was literally to steamroll and trample infantry with their weight and force of an armored horse slamming into you.

I remember the outrage the gaming community had over the idea of buying HORSE ARMOR for a videogame character with REAL money.

Mithril isn't a thing in ES is it? Regardless Horse armor only came in Steel or Elven and the filename says steel anyhow.

Mithril was in both Daggerfall and Oblivion. IIRC in Daggerfall it was beaten out only by Ebony and Daedric.
