For me, the vast majority of the game was leveling. Dungeons were a means to level, and I never really did the harder raids because they were too hardcore. I remember spending weeks just dicking around in Barrens or Westfall.

I started playing vanilla when i was about 7 years old, leveling was all I did.

I suspect what you said is true for 90% of players.

Why then Blizzard pandered to the minority who wanted raids, and killed their own game in the process is forever beyond me.

Financially they were successful. But every time someone talks about Classic now you can see the Blizzard guys get nervous like they know it was the better experience but they cant admit it.

Think I might try this out
Never got past the free trial back when it was thing since
>it gives the computer viruses user
Thinking warrior since I have a sword fetish

>parents never let me sub to anything
>have to play RS for free
>used to cut yews in varrock until i reached wc 89 listening to this on repeat
>youtube.com/watch?v=3GwjfUFyY6M
Totally worth it.

Mind controling people into the lava while waiting for MC raids to form up.

fapping to belf dancers in goldshire

My dad was huge into WoW, I made a toon on his account

My dad was only into Cossacks and AoE2

In hindsight he had better taste than me

>toon

Progression with leveling and your character

Below 40, it was absolutely nessesary to run everywhere. To dungeons, quests, cities, etc. Getting your first mount and being able to move a little faster made it feel fucking amazing.

Getting loot from a dungeon you spent an hour looking for people to run with you and another hour to two hours to clear it made it meaningful. Dying on a boss allowed people to communicate what went wrong and how to fix it instead of the bullshit of abandoning the group with the first sign of death.

I never got past level 40 something, I spent way too much of my time doing PvP. Or trying to get a cooler hunter pet. I also wasted time trying to grind for rare drops

>my dad
what's your age you faggot?

Wish I still had my old CRT to play like its 2k4.

I too spent (wasted) many hours running SFK for that level 19 dagger that sells for a ton of gold

ganking lowies.

>vets come back to classic and more people start calling them toons
I'm not saying it wasn't cringy, but thats what people said.

>no RP option
baka

Dungeons, even though I already voted. 40 man raiding is a fucking meme, a bad one.

But everyone did ERP anonsan

a post that clearly describes that you had nothing to do with roleplay during vanilla

>Classic is a huge hit
>Other developers realize nobody wants a clone of modern wow
>They start to clone vanilla wow
>A new age of good MMOs resurfaces

I'm 19, user..

Thats what I said, ERP.

Pornshire is lit tonight. Rode a seesaw with a girl.

>>They start to clone vanilla wow

This is what started the stagnation of MMO market.

I never understood why people called them toons

Awesome dude more copypasted theme park MMOs except now they bring back ganking so you can at least have something resembling fun by griefing the playerbase as they run between towns to deliver 10 monster scrotums

Wildstar tried, but the game was fucking ruined with terrible humor that pandered to children and morons. Gameplay was fine, but the lore/world made the game unplayable. A generic Korean MMO has more likable characters than that piece of shit.

>wah i dont want to party up or play with people!
Back to Souls faggot

I want to play with people, I also don't want to play with them in more shitty theme park MMOs where the goal is to quest and grind to the level cap and then do fucking raids and dailies for the rest of eternity.

>goal is to have fun with people leveling then do it again
Yeah, we can all tell you're a no fun faggot. Now go away.

It was leveling. I made so many friends helping out doing group quests or 5 man dungeons. By the time I hit UBRS/LBRS people started becoming the prototype of douchebag that inhabits assfaggots now that I stopped and just decided to camp out at 40-55 elite areas to help fledgling peeps get to the end.

The sense of community is what I miss the most, be an absolutely cunt? Your server will know and you'll be shunned. As it should be.

Because they were the loudest and most obnoxious cunts. You also had lead dev Jeff Kaplan who came from that group of loud and obnoxious cunts.

pretty much every game that does this splits people between PvP and PvE servers.
>Not wanting to be some manchild's victim while playing games means you're no fun
No fun for fat virgin basement dwellers I guess

everything?
Levelling was very alive because it was hard and not everyone had a guide on "1 week to reach level 60".

Raiding was a chore after a few weeks because how tedious and assholes some people are. I remember there were at least 3 people afking and auto follow in the middle of the raid. As casual guild, we had a hard time to fill in the slots so we just took whoever reached level 60.

Dungeons were pretty much the meat of the classic. You either love it or you leave WoW. You have to run some dungeons over and over for attune quests, gears or running guildmates. It was hard, time-wasting and rewarding.

PvP wasn't my really my forte. I like the world pvp though. It breaks the routinity of fetching this, kill this type of quests. It get really tensed during levelling which kinda the point. AV was awesome, WSG was shit because there's always stalemate that force you to play it up to 1 hour of boring flag defense. AB was okay, it was probably middle of the road of av and wsg.

I really enjoyed classic because of that new experience. Watching elite players who reached 60 and geared up to their ass. You dream someday you will be like them. Having fun in pvp where everyone's clueless but sometimes you get destroyed by premade.

Anyway, Blizzard doesn't announce the classic server because they "listen". It's because the modern WoW has actually less and less players. There's some site that show realm pops based on their activity of AH, PvP and Bank, there were like 3 servers with barely 2.5k active pop(daily). The rest of them range from 1k to few hundreds. Meanwhile private servers have a steady 3k and 4.5k during weekends. What Blizzard see if private server with their spaghetti code could gather that many people, they could do better and earn more money while at it.

I was really tempted to go back if it launch. However, i will hold that thought until people's playing it for a week and read what will their thought about it.

listening to old wow pvp music causing me to get hyped up

>READY STEADY GO

Also I plan on playing and raiding as a dwarf shadow priest

>raiding as a dwarf shadow priest
not gonna happen unless you want to raid with casual fags that run mc for 5-8 hours and accomplish nothing.

If they lift the debuff cap he'd have a chance.
#upthelimit

I was told most raids would consider a shadowpriest inside warlock heavy raidsin vanilla.

Ot was this false?

If they remove the debuff limits on mobs, they are viable as debuff and mana battery otherwise they are useless piece of shit that eat debuff slot, high threat and shit damage.

They are viable during TBC when debuff limit was removed. In vanilla, you get told to respec or get out of any serious raiding guild.

>Ready Steady Go

Unbreakable, right?

Also check out Revenge of the Windfury (1 and 2)

and Ioneye (Elemental Shaman)

Ioneye was fucking INSANE.

They only gave life in vanilla, mana wasn't until TBC. And the debuff cap made that unviable.

you were right, vampiric something debuff.

dude the MMO market died in 2007.
Free MMOs were always shit and sub-based games just didn't have the quality to compete.
I'd agree that generally the model shifted to "wow-like" but the main issue wasn't the stagnation per se but rather the lack of actually good, persistent worlds that weren't just skin boxes more similar to modern wow than vanilla.
The model worked for years but then everybody tried to con the system by putting in as less effort as possible, blame the lazy, incompetent devs not the formula.

>tfw the devs fucking hyperfocused on one of the most niche parts of the game and the rest of the industry followed.
Raiding is cancer.

ironic... they could copy the endgame content, but not the part everyone really loved

So let's say Classic is obscenely successful. Where does it go in a year or two? TBC? Nowhere? Personally I really love the idea of an alternate timeline with original patches/expansions that expand on the vanilla experience rather than following the same evolution path WoW originally did.

TBC is the obvious route.
The unlikely possible route is these new "classic-minded" developers creating content for vanilla at level 60.

I genuinely don't know how the fuck any of you can stand leveling. Just the thought of doing it again makes me nauseous.

youtube.com/watch?v=vsoNY9UVr9E

its fun to join up with randoms

Is that supposed to help? I fucking hated leveling through Ashenvale.

>Classic is a huge hit
>people level to 60 in 2-3 months
>leave because there is no endgame

>>people level to 60 in 2-3 months
>they then select a new character and go again
>they keep playing because of the friendships they formed and eventually quit and move on with their lives
>come back when new 1 to 60 content is added

>new 1 to 60 content is added
So now you faggots don't want classic, you want new content.

>he never played vanilla
>he doesnt know
I actually pity you.

doing shit with friends
thats it

HAHAHAH most 90% of people didnt see past first raid tiers. Open world pvp was at height, EPL was some shit itsslf, most sets took months to get getting lucky, longest hardest raids, open door dungeons while leveling, competing in farm locs, AV was days.. end gsme content now is faceroll normal and world quests

As the poll shows no one cares about raids

>93 Votes

More than enough to show no one gives a shit about raids

You know you dont need to survey every single person to get accurate information right? Sup Forums is raid central and 6% if the best it can get up to shows that raiders are a loud minority of idiots.

>Sup Forums is raid central
Oh boy.
Even /nosg/ is more competent in raiding.
