A bump

youtube.com/watch?v=G__PaYFpGHg

>western rhythm games

youtube.com/watch?v=JPVIgshtOag
Didn't mean to leave Japanese ones out, here you go.

youtube.com/watch?v=21c6Co5aqZg
Partly because the long patterns are simple enough for me to handle.

amplitude looks cool, nice

youtube.com/watch?v=-jCjOzPKogU
another fun game

youtube.com/watch?v=Ns8_b0u5yj0
Hard to choose 1 chart but I'd say this is at least one of my most played one in museca.

i fucking love that song
youtube.com/watch?v=956I4PVNZYA

there's a Museca cab in the Round 1 at a mall near me, but the fucker is like an hour and a half round trip and I very rarely feel like making a drive like that worth it by dedicating an entire day to going to the mall for the sole selfish purpose of playing rhythm games by myself
youtube.com/watch?v=OORJQKFyigE
this is my favorite track I'm any good at
Museca is the kind of game I'd spend upwards of like $200-300 for a decent home setup of any kind for, it's so goddamn fun
same goes for Groove Coaster, I usually just swap back and forth between those machines when I'm at the arcade

youtube.com/watch?v=yT2xV8BHkwA

Drummania is still the best.

I don't like hit commands while music is playing games

I prefer hit commands in time/tune with the music playing

There's a difference

>mfw first time I AAed this song

youtube.com/watch?v=Z4h5sM38izg
Fuck I'm dumb tonight

What game do each of those refer to?

I think in the first he means games where you make the music, like Guitar Hero. You play bad the song sounds bad. The latter would be like DDR where the music is always the same and you just hit to go along with it.

I just got Taiko a couple weeks ago (Jap version) and it's pretty fun. People were saying the songlist was shit, but I think there's some decent stuff especially Japari park, it's so much fun to play.

So if I want to get the DLC, I have to make a jap psn account to buy it, right?

youtube.com/watch?v=5k5_nfGuhmM
youtube.com/watch?v=CTRBW8Io1S0
youtube.com/watch?v=GtISiboGUvc

Because frets on fire uses mp3's, it's a good compromise and won't cut an instrument out when you miss.

Yes, you have to download it through the Jap account but it should still work on your US account when you switch back. At least this is how it worked DOAX.

>Guitar Hero babies like meme band Dragonforce
>Meanwhile the OG Guitar Freaks has superior Sonata Arctica
youtube.com/watch?v=-CgyFG0coT0

Fuck that, you gotta distill it a bit
Like what people play to get pumped the fuck up, or when they challenge themselves, or when they just wanna chill
youtube.com/watch?v=QynOnuiPVBA
>not wanting all dem gallops for max chill
also guilty pleasure songs
youtube.com/watch?v=_6tEgpnR8xQ
good shit my nigger

youtube.com/watch?v=YCAWFArUVRo
I know over 100 different Para Para dances.

>drummer from dream theater does a prog song with avenged sevenfold

its baller

youtu.be/djz7Mq94Dho?t=34s

I do this shit on guitar its so fun

>remember going with a friend to a Para Para demnostration Konami or some fucking company was doing, had to drive a few hours for it
>an somewhat overweight married couple apparently also knew everything the dancers did
>stood in the very front and fucking mirrored them
If I squinty-eyed any harder in their direction I would've turned chink

One year Konami did a Para Para competition at Otakon and the winner would get to be in an official video. I won for doing the routines the best but they went with second place because she was thinner and chinkier than me. Such is life.

Oh, then I prefer the latter as well. I don't play rhythm games to pretend I'm playing a real instrument, I play to listen to good music while hitting buttons to it and getting a good score. I hated when Guitar Hero first came out, some people would look down on others that played the game and would say things like "why not play a real guitar?" They completely miss the point of the rhythm game genre.

ironically that sounds like dragonforce covering sonata arctica. the vocals sound like marc hudson

That one is fun. One of my first 9 star full combos.

This song has to be my favorite Taiko chart.
youtube.com/watch?v=yJjjwz8KRvU
I always end up smiling like a retard after nailing that solo.

I gotta go with the classics:
youtube.com/watch?v=VUrhN3dgy5w

>Sonata Arctica through shitty speakers and a bad recording sounds like Dragonforce
Yup, the math adds up.

youtube.com/watch?v=JY9k7DhNSIA
This chart was too tame for this song. Should have been in GH instead.

nu dragonforce > nu sonata arctica. but yeah old sonata blows them both out of the water

Will there ever be a successor to Bust-A-Groove? Seems like now would be the perfect time to bring back old franchises/reboots

I enjoy rock band but only like the guitar hero guitar. Kind of fucked on my PS4.

>no known true full version of Shorty & the EZMOUSE but there's a full Natural Playboy in English
slightly angery

>Gitaroo man
you my nigga. This game is way too underrated

youtube.com/watch?v=0YbRclMWFcE

>play that game back in the day
>get to Master's Play BONE ZONE and completely give up
>try on a whim over two goddamn years later
>1 shot it
it was kinda like a super delayed "sleep on it" thing.
youtube.com/watch?v=hjKlZEYyWPY

Is this a thinly veiled YGYL thread?
youtube.com/watch?v=dPTD-Fowmww

>how you want your chart f@m?
youtube.com/watch?v=svQjcXtTQWY

The 2000 series songs on Taiko look and sound amazing but I can only survive Saitama 2000. Maybe one day I'll get gud enough.
youtube.com/watch?v=mP_9KIqGl-s

youtu.be/ozXMsFZMydw

Wouldn't all rhythm game threads be that essentially? Kinda unavoidable
also Katy's VA sure did a good job with Got to Move
youtube.com/watch?v=2uWv8PBovo4

someone post some shit from that game with the fuckin knobs and shit B

sneed

I love old rhythm games that no one remembers or even know exists. I played this Konami bongo game at an arcade event a couple weeks ago and it was physically painful.

Why western rythm games died?

I can't agree that those songs sound amazing, every single one of them sounds like shit and makes my ears bleed. I've only ever bothered to clear them and I haven't touched any since.

Thumper and new Amplitude were fun and recent.

God beatmania has the absolute worst music of any rhythm game ever made. Too bad the game is fun.

I got u senpai
youtube.com/watch?v=1BORZkvt74I

youtube.com/watch?v=pK2E8E2Ef0M
Say that to my face fucker not online and see what happens.

Too many at once. Once GH metallica came out I was done. Plus Metallica songs are easier to play in real life because you don't have to hold a fucking button to do a palm muted e string how did they fuck it up that bad GIVE ME OPEN E'S YOU FUCKS.

youtu.be/zIZ55gwZpdo?t=154
i have such fond memories of this game
my buddy in high school gave me his copy of the vita game to borrow and i loved it
he dropped out before i could give it back and i never saw him again

...

They honestly all sound like the same electro-pop-techno-trance-whatever. The odd and scary naming conventions don't help distinguish them either. The music is just not good. If that example is supposed to be one of the better ones then I have no hope.

I had a much harder time with the shark robot than anything else in the game.

youtube.com/watch?v=uBQR8vK-ias

youtube.com/watch?v=Ih-WpTZcFIQ
Was mostly goofing with Kecak. This is more typical of Beatmania.

Better. Maybe it was only that BGM pack I downloaded for LR2 that only had shit. Good lord was it all shit. No clue if those songs are actually on the beatmania machines or not.

>Those charts on any vaguely Japanese rhythm (Osu, Beatmania, Vocaloid shit, etc) game with sixty fuckjillion notes flying at 300+ bpm
>All those videos of people not just clearing them, but clearing them flawlessly despite the fuckloads of visual noise screaming across the screen
I literally do not understand how the fuck people do that. I tried a 'medium' difficulty Japanese song on Osu once and that shit would instantly fail me if I couldn't click 30 times per second. And that's just clicking. God knows how people manage those keyboard-esque games with gimmicks like turntables or touch screens.

It's pure muscle memory. I play Beatmania a shitload and when I get to hard parts on a song I know I literally am not thinking about it, it is 100% instinct that plays it.

youtube.com/watch?v=EKeXb5hYrQk
It's not all that hard but it just feels so satisfying to play

I never in my fucking live will be able to perfect this fucking song
youtu.be/0Ppi9kP3Isk

>being so much of a brainlet you can't comprehend and react to a few buttons on a screen

The only way I can describe is its like muscle memory in it's purest form. Like when you see the notes coming down the lane, you dont think "alright I need to hit X lane in Y seconds", your brain just sort of -does- it. Funnily enough the runs you perform best in are the runs where you don't think at all, you manage to space out enough to handle the song purely on instinct and before you know it its been two minutes you got a full combo.

>Only difficulties with an adequate note density are Very Hard/Extreme
>Both introduce more of the shitty "preasu buy our arcade controrrer" multi notes/hold notes so theyre no fun to play
such is life

>not one mention of rhythm paradise games

Because they are mediocre.

That's not what your mom said last night.

Rhythm Heaven games are cute and fun, but they don't offer the challenge other rhythm games normally have.

man this game looks fun

shit this game looks fun too man, i wish there was a home version because there is no arcade near me

THAT song finally came to Rocksmith the other week.
