Preaching to the choir
There is nothing in-depth about mount and blade, vanilla is fucking dog shit.
>talking shit about medieval autism simulator
nigga i will literally gorilla warfare

Any old game that isn't action focused
7.62 High calibre and Marauder
i doubt even 10 people on Sup Forums have played them
The problem with M&B is leading a big army and raiding villages is the only real viable option to advance. Everything outside of combat was extremely lackluster, even with mods. The economy is a joke so playing as a peaceful merchant is terrible.
That, and even if you manage to grab a castle you can't hold it out because the king and all his buddies are programmed to prioritize your shithole castle instead of the ones closest to them.
Exactly. Keeping any kind of small empire alive is a headache way beyond anything resembling fun, if even possible.
>get awarded a small village
>it's shit
>build it up
>do quests for the peasants
>economy and village conditions improves
>king declares war or gets war declared on him
>entirety of the enemy forces ignores the villages and castles on their border just to raid and sack my village into oblivion
>mfw
I played it but only because I was autistically searching for something like Jagged Alliance 2.
I don't want the game to be casualized however, but it would definitely be nice if the AI didn't prioritize you.
A few tweaks to army size also managed to fix the game in one playthrough for me.
Kinda related has anybody here played dwarf fortress? It's only got ASCII graphics but it's easily one of the most in-depth and fun games I've ever played.
>Games that fly under the radar from normies and plebs.
Ultima series
I see it mentioned a lot. Could you just quickly explain what about it is compelling, what gives it longevity and what specifically is fun?
>Ladders
>in-depth
lol
Fuck off, retarded tripfag. Go back to Dwarf Fortress general.
>this shit
>know that when war breaks out, my village will be a prime target
>spend peace-time mostly forgetting about the outside world and spending all my time / money improving my village
>war breaks out
>use my warband to patrol around my village
>protect my stupid villagers going on treks during wartime
>end up winning a lot of battles and capturing a shitload of prisoners
>ignore the marshall's call like 70% of the lords of the kingdom do
>suddenly realise why nobody turns up when the marshall rallies the banners
>it's to protect their own towns instead of gathering 20 cows so they can raid one fucking village and go home with 1/15th of the nothing that the campaign gathers
So much more rewarding, to protect my little boys
...
I play on Persistent World and mercenaries, however back then online community was more active. For single player I just been trying out Sands of Faith (which kinda came from Crusader Way to Expiation)
Honestly think Mount & Blade II Bannerlord will fly under the radar, there is potential of new multiplayer genres and game modes never seen before. But there needs to be more concrete information on whether its going to have 400 player servers or not. I know some dev blogs have discussion on modding.
I have played these. Marauder was quite good. I like some of the gameplay choices (especially being able to load/swap individual mags, but oddly enough it was the same amount of AP to handload as it was to swap mags in a gun.
this user is right. There is a pitiful shortage of squad based tactics games that aren't following the Firaxis XCom style combat (decent, but overly simplistic)
>400 player servers
Christ that would be absolute chaos
I never wanted anything more
Well it was made by a dude and his wife pretty much.
So they didn't have the resources at the time. Modding communities picked up the slack, which implements a lot of features like what you mentioned.
Is there a way to figure out where everyone else is during wartime? Where they're fighting, or what location they're sieging.
mount and blade is garbage.
>new game taking a million years to come out while its still the same shit over again
You can ask anyone from your kingdom, usually a lord's wife/daughter will know everyone's location.
As for rival kingdoms, I have no idea. Only vague assumptions based on if their kingdom is at war, and if so who they are at war with.
Warband is on 200-250, i just heard from it on one of the dev blogs though no given info.
Personally I think it would be really awesome, some of the most fun I had on Warband was 200 player battles in Persistent World, line battles on various modules, and of course sieges.
Can't wait for a good implementation of siege engines (like GK) I would love to see a Stronghold RTS and Mount & Blade mix up of some kind.
>gorilla
>play Warband
>early levels
>get attacked by bigger army
>my small band dies
>start running in circles
>enemies form Benny Hill-like line
>kite backwards with great sword for 30 minutes killing them one by one
>in depth simulation
That was actually pretty typical for small skirmishes. One knight on a horse could easily sweep and dispatch of say 7 lightly armed and armored bandits on the road.
>incredibly repetitive gameplay in an incredibly bland world
>somehow you are a pleb if you don't like that
oh
Installing right now boys, got gifted this awhile back on steam and never got around to it. Can I just jump in? Whats the best thing to learn fast?
I'm not much of Singleplayer guy on Warband, personally if you are just starting this game try the multiplayer. Sadly community has died quite a bit since 2014. Also use winRAR and moddb if your interested in trying out varous modules. If you are indeed playing Singleplayer be prepared to climb up a ladder of exp, growing army and quest doing.
I find multiplayer to be more fun on this but thats just my opinion.
Anybody have that wiki cap of a 100 Korean calvary beating 10000 Chinese infantry.
Seriously though if you're not playing on Normal or higher once you get the hang of things them you have no one to blame but yourself
>tfw you grave for bannerlord so much, you start to study ancient and medieval history and battle strategies
When will my suffering end?
vexed native mod to actually have fun
>That'sthejoke.FAG
M&B is for Napoleonic mp rp
>playing multiplayer
>human opponents obviously with little experience
>I'm on a horse
>1v4
>circling, as soon as one is slightly exposed I go for him
>they figure this out
>when I see one purposefully expose himself to attack I go for the one that would ostensibly back him up
>start to do damage and wear away at their little formation
>pick one off as he goes for a long weapon near a dead man
>pick one off when he thinks I don't know he's going to be the one to turn suddenly and attack me
>crash into the one with a shield and knock him down
>slash into his face as he stands up
>final opponent
>he is now scared and alone
>I stop my horse and dismount
>throw my shield into the dirt
>hold my 1 handed sword above my head, the classic sign I want a duel
>he doesn't immediately start making his way toward me, probably out of fear
>I know I have him, then and there the fight is mine
>eventually we get close
>he circles this way and that, trying to find some gap in my defence
>I stand dead still and just block in the direction of his readied arm, turning to face him but not moving
>he comes in close, swings
>I block, swing back
>cut his arm badly
>he doesn't attack anymore, tries what I did
>he is standing still and blocking whatever direction I hold my weapon
>I walk up and just kick him in the chest
>overhead attack and he dies
>early levels
>attacked by 50+ sea raiders
>only followers who get knocked the fuck out
>40 minutes of riding near them to deplete their throwing axes and spears
>20 minutes i ride next to them to make them lower their shields so i can oneshot them with the crossbow
>mfw 50+ reputation + decent gear update
welcome to Sup Forums, please lurk before you post
that one is fucking old too
