Basically only racing games are native 4k and 60fps. 90% of the the other Xb1X games use god awful resolution scaling, hovering around 1440p or some other fucking frakenstein resolution.

Pop in some Gear 4 and prepared to be floored. Hell, play some Gears 3 to see how much better it looks.

A $700 graphics card can barely push modern titles at 2160p@60 with a $300 processor driving it, expecting any standalone hardware to do it is absurd. 1080p@60 is a pretty good trade for Variablep@Variable though.

GoW4 uses resolution scaling, it doesn't play at native 4k.

I watched an unboxing video and when I saw that fucking little package of AA batteries I turned the video off. Absolute bullshit they can't ship controllers with a chargeable solution out of the box.

So you guys like having less options? Those rechargable controllers are real cool until they die for good and you have to buy a new one entirely. Not to mention, if you want to never worry about running out of juice you have to either keep them plugged in while playing or have a backup controller. Panasonic eneloop AA batteries are goodlike. I started using them in the 360 era and rotating 4 of them (costs around $15 for a 4pack) lasts at least 3 years with heavy use (4+ hours a a day).

I don't care if they can't get 4k60 every game. £450 is crazy value for what this brings to the table for modern games and for backward compatibility titles. As long as my games don't look like ass on my LG 48" 4ktv I'll be satisfied. It certainly does a better job at what it's targeted to do than the ps4 pro which I've seen can sometimes have 96% lower resolution and on average 50% lower res.

Yeah going by Average income you'll have something like ~22k post tax. Around 12k-18k will be spent on staying alive.
So giving the benefit and say you have 10k left to have fun it's only about 5% of your yearly fun times. Mind you cost of living can vary wildly.

Can you mess with the battery in a PS4 controller or is it done if it breaks? That's one thing I don't like about these new cell phones the past few years. They close off the battery and then you're screwed if something happens to it.

The bottom is a cutscene and they've obviously opted to have higher visual effects in cutscenes. A lot of games do this and it can hurt performance. At the end of the day you don't even notice fps drops in a cutscene because you aren't playing the game so it won't feel sluggish due to the fps drop. The fact the x1x is pushing between 50 and 90% more pixels and is still putting in a higher average fps compared to the pro just shows how much better it is. 22% price increase for minimum 50% resolution increase.

It's probably not worth opening the controller to replace it. Just get a whole new controller.

Drops to sub-30 are noticable regardless of cutscene or gameplay. It's more embarassing to the publisher if they can't get a guaranteed 30fps in a CUTSCENE, which are fully under their own control, higher-detailed assets for the 2-3 characters close to the camera or not.

I doubt it, the main reason Microsoft did it was because the Xbox One was weak sauce at launch.

Sony was leaning really hard into marketing the PS4 Pro as the most powerful gaming console, and now they don't even have that.

That said, glad Microsoft went overboard with the performance bump up instead of slouching on it like Sony did. PS4 Pro still bottlenecking its I/O is garbage, load times are bad enough in modern games without the OS getting in the way.

30 fps has been the console standard for donkeys years and the vast majority of console players don't mind it as they're either too casual to care or they easily adjust to it (like me). I wouldn't expect 60 fps at even 1080p from a £450 pc. What a lot of people forget is that in some countries e.g. USA you can get pc parts dirt cheap so you probably could spend $500 on an actual decent 1080p60 or 4k30 pc. Most other countries on the other hand don't have those kinds of big pc markets and when consoles like the x1x are presented there, it offers insane value over comparable pc hardware. The best you can do here in the UK to match the X1x for price is like an Athlon and 1050 ti. It's not a very competitive option in practise.

We're dealing with vm protect denuvo jews so what do you expect. That doesn't take away from the x1x being the best console option by a country mile though.

Anytime I hear someone talk about how a console game feels so "smooth" its almost always because it ran at 60fps. even fucking Mario is praised for how it "feels" mainly part to it running at 60fps. If the hardware simply can't run the game at 1080p@60fps then fine. But the current console hardware can, they just choose to force 4k on us even though the 4k TV market is extremely small. Fucking Xbox360 didnt even ship with HDMI cables its first few years, they recognized even then 1080p TVs were not that common.

Specific 60 fps consoles wouldn't work based on parity. A good number of devs including destiny 2 devs have already said they need parity between all platforms hence why they target 30 fps across all platforms. If some people had 60 fps but the rest had 30s with drops to the 20s, we all know who'd win in deathmatches. You wouldn't even have to be good at the game and you'd still be able to wipe the floor with the guys playing at 30 fps.

You have to remember that one of the best things about console gaming over the years was the parity across every version of the game on a single platform. You have the same advantages and disadvantages as the next guy.

There are all these other things the console companies have to weigh up. Also it's much easier to market 4k visuals than 60 fps as like I mentioned before, most console players are used to 30 fps already and are probably too casual to care and will buy these upgrade consoles solely because of buzzwords anyway.
