What's the appeal in these games? The best parts are the ones where it's trying to copy stalker, the most boring bits are the only ones that differ from those games. 2033 is much better because it's at least atmospheric, last light is just generic in every single way.
What's the appeal in these games? The best parts are the ones where it's trying to copy stalker...
>why is this game not the same as another game i like?
>i enjoy playing games that are the same as others but watered down in every single way
Well there's a reason people don't like LL or the redux versions.
Looks like Exodus will fall for the same console FPS meme, sad really.
Redux is objectively better though. The stealth in vanilla metro 2033 is broken.
Only cutscene loving fags enjoy these games. The gameplay is absolutely devoid of anything interesting.
You seem confused.
The LL/Redux stealth is broken, the original 2033 stealth actually works.
>Redux is objectively better though
Fuck no, 2033 Redux ruined the atmosphere, which was the only good thing about the game in the first place.
There's about 2 cutscenes in both games.
The metro games don't really do anything interesting gameplay wise. Their entire selling point is being atmospheric. 2033 had it near perfect, no other game feels like it. Then they botched it all with generic graphics, music, and gun and monster designs with redux.
LL is just completely forgettable in every way in both versions
The real question is why are people hyped for Exodus aka "Last Light 2: Choo Choo train Boogaloo"?
I mean, you're factually incorrect. You couldn't even do stealth takedowns in 2033. The moment you knifed someone they took about 10 damage and alerted everyone.
Last Light and Redux had a perfect stealth system.
I have no fucking idea who LL/exodus/redux is supposed to appeal to. They're just average shooters in every single way. 2033 had a brief cult standing before LL came out and they went full russian call of duty.
>There's about 2 cutscenes in both games.
Confirmed for not played the game.
>Last Light and Redux had a perfect stealth system.
BRO PRESS B TO CROUCH LMAO
WALK UP BEHIND THEM WHEN THEY TURN AROUND AND STAND STLL for 1 MINUTE LOOKING AT A WALL LMAO
It's the casual version of Stalker, of course more people like it than Stalker.
>You couldn't even do stealth takedowns in 2033
Wrong, webm related
>look at any last light/redux comment section
>dude it looks just like fallout 4!
>Stealth is about killing people
True stealth should be all about walking through an entire level unseen, without alerting or interacting with any enemy.
And here's the perfect "press X to awesome" stealth system in action, flawless AI reactions and animations.
>True stealth should be all about walking through an entire level unseen, without alerting or interacting with any enemy.
>playing on easy
Only ranger hardcore has no hud, you'd know that if you knew shit about the game.
good fucking lord redux is terrible. it feels nothing like the original
...
I don't even know who they are trying to appeal to with these new metro games. I saw the gameplay for exodus and I don't recognize it at all. It feels like someone trying to be a russian call of duty. They certainly don't give a shit about their original demographic at all, unless they never even intended to appeal to them in the first place and it was in total accident.
proof?
Redux looks better here
Play the game or read the wiki, dumbass.
Great bait.
So you don't have proof.....
...
>bait
Is evereything you don't agree with bait now?
>original 2033 ranger hardcore was impossibly difficult where all filters had 15 seconds of air, alot were glitched and you couldnt even pick them up
>they do a full 180 on redux where ranger hardcore is now just 'slightly harder than normal' mode
No analogue watch no buy.
Try to be more subtle next time.
...
>wah-wah bait
Fuck off buddy, shooting in LL feels better than in the original
Desperate.
...
>I can't accept it so I'll just call it bait
Pathetic
Redux shooting still looks and feels better in these webms
If you hate good animations, proper recoil which applies to the arms and other subtle details like different muzzle flash and smoke from different ammo types, yeah.
How could this not be bait, I refuse to believe somebody has so much shit taste.
...
>good animations, proper recoil
The animations in the original are way worse, recoil lacks kick and it feels like Artyom's hands are in jelly
>subtle details like different muzzle flash and smoke from different ammo types
AKA irrelevant shit that no one would care about during gameplay
The muzzle flash in the original was obnoxiously large and also stays the same with dirty or mgr, it's the sound that changes
STALKERFAGS FUCK OFF
NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE A CLUNKY BLAND AIMLESS MESS
God, the Redux animations look so stiff.
HEIL REICH
>doesnt know that unalerted enemies get one shot killed by knives
Does Sup Forums even play the games they talk about?
Never understood why they got rid of the superior recoil.
So much better. Why did they make the military rounds incendiary in redux/ LL
It is true though. The shooting is better in the original.
So brainles notice that they have them loaded.
In the original the muzzle flash and sound changes, also they have a clean look inside the magazine. That was probably not enough for console playstesters.
ok, so what is metros direction then?
Doesn't even make sense though. FMJ round be incendiary? Weird.
They don't try to appeal to gun enthusiasts, their main goal was getting this shit on consoles by any means.
Don't bother. Retards on Sup Forums will defend the most broken shit as long as it makes the game harder.
Care nu/v/ explain whats wrong with LL?
>le epic console players are all casual meme
Graphics and atmosphere are worse
That's about it, honestly
>anyone I don't like is new
2033 redux isn't much of an improvement, at best it fleshes bits and bobs of the game out but that's it. It even looks worse in places.
games not tense at all, you move and handle like a supersoldier, EPIC lens flare left and right, no atmosphere, just feels generic and forgettable
Now this is a typical Nu-Sup Forums post
I like the gunplay, best in any game imo.
The people who stealth through these games and miss the best part are incomprehensible to me.
>Nu-Sup Forums
What a typical neo-Sup Forums post
I remember back in release I played it on hardest diff. Had some fun, however I never played the first game.
I enjoyed LL and both Reduxes. Is Exodus really Microsoft only? I have a PS4 and was pretty excited for it.
no wonder you have nothing to compare it to, literal fucking trend hopping retard
>Redux shooting still looks and feels better in these webms
>that shitton of visual recoil
>your head bobing with the guns recoil
Metro 2033 had more realistic recoil
Still I'm waiting for your point of views
I'm not the same guy, so right there
Between metro 2033 and LL, as the devs said, Artyom got more experience with firearms, so his animations were changed to reflect that.
But then redux uses the LL animations, so Artyom is a elite ranger from the start now.
>trend hopping retard
Well excuse me that I'm not a neet living in mama hotel. I would love to see the first game too, I already bought it on steam. I just dont have time yet.
Corridor shooter.
damn... can you imagine being a wagecuck?
ADHD fags will tell you OP LL is bad. But it really isnt. Its just shitposting
I don't understand why you're calling LL haters ADHD because if anything it's the literal opposite. theres epic cod explosions and uber cool shootouts every 3 seconds in that game
>What's the appeal in these games?
Closed world, which means more attention to detail and better done everything as opposed to the cancer that is modern games.
Start was okay, bit rushed but did it's part.
But surface parts were HO-HO-HORRIBLE. Last levels were shitty. Ending was pretty bad. So second part of the game felt cheap and lazily made.
Here's the problem with that.
Most of the time when you hit someone in the back of the head their somehow still standing.
Its happened a ton of times when I hit a guy perfectly in the head and he's still going.
Not to mention how sometimes they just seem to see you out of no were.
the swamp level was the only good surface level
>using MGR
man, does Sup Forums like anything? watched half an hour of metro 2033 gameplay a while ago and the story alone had me so captivated that I immediately wishlisted the series. still haven't bought them as I have other games on my wishlist I want to get to first but fucking hell, going by the posts in this thread, you'd think the metro series literally became sentient and killed everyone's grandmother. It looks fun and the story is cool. isn't that enough for you goddamn ingrates?
I played both Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux and I enjoyed them both
Don't see why anyone would hate them, they do a pretty good job at being fun
I think the books are better, but the atmosphere and world-building of 2033 and last light are fantastic. Gunplay/Stealth are fairly standard, but the atmosphere is what I'm looking for.
I'd really recommend the books, buy the way.
Wait, is Last Light that bad?
I still remember the original 2033 on PC back when it was released, it was an incredible ride due to the high difficulty and how FUCKING SCARY it was
I played almost every good survival horror games and 2033 is by far the scariest.
I'm gonna play LL soon due to Exodus, but don't tell me the serie is already ruined, that would be such a shame
thank you. some voices of reason. I plan on playing through the games soon in time for exodus.
btw can I get the books in russian somewhere? I've been learning russian and I think it would be a cool way to practice
Of course ya can. Dmitry Glukhovsky IS Russian. The English versions are just translations.
The idea of each station being it's own society (or lack of one) is just set out in so much more detail in the books. Maybe thats just a limitation of games in general?
I would think a dev that admired a series of books so much as to adapt them into games wouldn't want to overshadow the original material by making the games the optimal way to experience the story but yeah, also a limitation of games. If you want the game to be fun, you can't constantly stop the game for an exposition dump
dont play redux
they take out alot of charm
The atmosphere
No, you can't...especially in an FPS.
Probably play the game first, and if you like the universe it's set in or want to get more involved in the stations lore/description, read the book.
I think there's three books now? Metro2033, which is similar to the game, Metro2034 which is loosely similar to last light, and finally Metro2035, which is sort of after Last Light, I guess...haven't finished it just yet!
considering I can't buy the original and I've heard it had a ton of bugs anyway, I'm gonna play redux, mate.
Maybe I'll play the original later in the future when I get the "metro itch" again
>nobody had heard of 2033 outside of certain circles
>last light comes out
>a few months later its witcher 3 reddit upboat tier
>devs start leading series to shit
>exodus is looking like call of fallout: Russian edition
The difficulty, another thing. Original 2033 on ranger hardcore was 1 hit kill death, 3 bullets at most per pickup, 20 seconds of air per filter. They ruined this too. In redux, I never ran out of ammo or filters at a single point on ranger hardcore.
As long as they keep the atmosphere inside the metro, I'll be accepting of it.
Yeah, that's probably exactly what I'll do
That really sucks. is LL the same?
A big part of the appeal in 2033 was how starved for ammo you constantly were..
Nice. Hope you enjoy it.
LL is just a casualized 2033 which is a casualized stalker
Its much harder to run out of ammo
I'll sexualize finn all I fucking want. He's clearly made for taking dick. look at what he's wearing
LL is a bit iffy, stealth is easier so you can also get ammo easier, at the same time the ammo limit is smaller so you can't just go crazy with it. Last I remember shotgun ammo is worth it's weight in gold at some points.
