Playing through FF7 again I get the distinct impression that Aeris was just fucking with everyone the entire time and knew that the planet/lifestream would win in the end so she just went along for the ride.

>oh yeah those guys are the Turks, they are bunch of cut-throats that have wanted me to help Shinra for years, lol
>oh yeah I know you have a massive identity crisis thing going on Cloud but why don't you dress up as a girl? lmao
>I'm not gonna say anything when Cloud tells his obvious bullshit story about Sephiroth being an Ancient, I guess just to see what happens, haha
>oh I got killed by Sephiroth? doesn't matter I still win, gg

She knows Cloud was full of shit the entire time, in the Gold Saucer date she says things like "I would like to meet the real Cloud someday". And she knew Zack , so she must have known Cloud was just imitating him but she never mentions this to him.

It's Aerith retard

most irrelevant video game argument of all time. literally who cares.

>Playing through FF7 again I get the distinct impression that Aeris was just fucking with everyone the entire time and knew that the planet/lifestream would win in the end so she just went along for the ride.

That nice but wrong. She's not some omniscient deity; the most she knows is that as time goes on Cloud is acting a bit TOO much like Zack, and that's when she decides Cloud's not himself and she wants to meet the real him.

That's the extent of her awareness od the situation. Half the time, she has no idea what the planet is doing with her when she hears it.

she isn't omniscient but I get the sense she has a better general feeling about what's happening throughout Disc 1. Much more than the rest of the party at least. Maybe she doesn't articulate it because it's difficult to put into words.

Pretty sure it's faith. White Mage FF characters usually have strong faith-like characteristics. She had faith that everything would work out for the best in the end.

Yeah this
She was just a positive thinker. I like to think she was real smug when she died.

That's just her personality that she developed probably as a result of being hunted by Turks forever and hearing voices that scared the shit out of her when she was a kid that she never understood till later. She's a streetsmart girl who grew up in the Slums, I think she just adapted after awhile and came into her own person. As much as I don't think it's super canon, CC showed her as a younger, more unsure girl as she was only 15 or something. OG Aeris is the adult, fully developed version who looks forward to the future more than anyone as stated by Tifa.

She was prepared at that point to take charge of things and meet her destiny and protect the planet after learning more about her people in the game. She never planned on dying, but she was willing to take charge of things. She also did know Cloud and see the real him because of her powers. She literally spells this out during her date with Cloud. That at first it was WEIRD or to her that he was so much like Zack and she saw a bit of him and Cloud but she was very aware at that point that Cloud was Cloud and her saying "I want to meet YOU" was her way of gently hinting at him to realize the bullshit he was feeding himself as opposed to just outright telling him he's living a lie and to start acting like himself. She wanted him to do it on his own and was already in love with him, the REAL him, at that point. Cloud in a recent thing even states that she must've seen the real him then or something.

All in all, Aeris is a really great character, but I guess her mischievous carefree personality is something some people can't look past. Honestly, she was basically the real hero of that game to me. It was like Cloud was just this unlikely bodyguard that was along for the ride and got caught up in all this bullshit and had to become a hero to help Aeris fulfill her Ancient destiny of saving the world at large as tragic as the whole thing is considering the bonds formed and her death.

I agree with this, when I played FF7 when I was a lad I preferred Tifa and Yuffie. More recently I liked Aeris more because of her very weird, wishy-washy "whatever happens, happens"attitude she seems to have.

I mean she starts hanging out with and journeys with a bunch of crazy people that are fighting the dominant superpopwer in the world because..? She feels like it? She's pretty cool like that I found.

also it's annoying to me that in AC the story focuses so much on Cloud's pain over her death more than the character of Aeris herself. I guess they did make effort to show the love the others still carry for her and once again, she is the one saving the day healing everyone and freeing Cloud of his guilt. Like damn, she's dead and you still have to call on her to fix everyone's bullshit. A hero's work is never done I guess.

Was pretty funny how Cloud was all boo-hooing and Aeris is just like "lol Cloud u cute and all but like come on, get the fuck over it, like, Shilly shally dilly dally nigga, I never even blamed you stop being dramatic" and had this sweet knowing smile at the end like "SEE? everything's alright" I guess that's why I like their relationship so much though, it's sweet how she deals with Cloud who is like a big messed up kid at times but she's not an ass about it like Tifa, just charming and smug.

I don't think she knew what was going on fully before the temple of the ancients. She even seemed to feel out of place a few times.

>>oh I got killed by Sephiroth? doesn't matter I still win, gg

kek this is so fucking true

Even in AC. Doesn't matter if you kill her or she's dead she still wins and she knows it. OP as fuck.

She really reminds me of when you read about so-called shamanic/"enlightened" people in books etc. They are always smug assholes.

>I get the distinct impression that Aeris was just fucking with everyone
You'd be right, she wasn't earning that kind of gil from just selling flowers.

She's sweet though, more light teasing than anything, and she actually cares so it just makes her more likeable in my opinion. but her powers definitely give her better insight on things than most and it's obvious by her behaviour at times. Kind of like "why is everyone so DRAMATIC, it's gonna be alright everyone hold my drink" and then goes and heals the planet or some shit.

fake news, Elmyra is obviously rich, compare her house to everyone else in the slums.

Makes me wonder what Aeris did with her extra money, since her mom probably didn't need it. I guess now we know how she paid for Cloud's transition.

>"I've always wanted a girlfriend(male)! I can finally fulfill my dream I've been saving for!"

>>"I've always wanted a girlfriend(male)! I can finally fulfill my dream I've been saving for!"
Fucking game giving me this fetish.

I want a waifu like Aerith.

I spent so long with that post's materia equipped, farming AP, and you dismiss it as fake news? Gonna fug you up so badly the slum disaster will look like a tea party!

>compare her house to everyone else in the slums.
To be fair, we're only shown a small portion. If we could walk all the way around underneath Midgar in like five minutes if there's no encounters slowing us down, and that zombie from the Shinra mansion basement that takes twenty minutes to do a regular normal attack doesn't show up, then it'd be weird.

Single women can't own the biggest houses in a slum. A family or Don Corneo, maybe. I just don't buy it.

Wow, a decent thread about Aerith once in a while. Sadly, it doesn't happen too often.

>Single women can't own the biggest houses in a slum. A family or Don Corneo, maybe. I just don't buy it.
They can when they're living off their dead husband's pension.

She really deserves more love

Aerisfag falseflagging as an Aerithbro detected.

What does Aeris smell like, Sup Forums

Gonna need a sauce on that user
Not many decent Aeris wallpapers about

She was probably living on a Shinra Military severance package cause of her husband or something, the point still stands that Elmyra's house is awesome while the rest of the under-plate looks like shit, and it isn't because of Aeris' mystic influence or something like that because it was awesome looking before she adopted her.

Like fresh-cut spring flowers strewn across a babbling brook
With a hint of lemon

Aeris is kind of a bitch.

...

Why

Fair point, I completely forgot about that.

>FF1
>no princess
Bad meme chart.

>tfw the best FF games are the ones that have the most tropes

That's because of you know who. Aeris is the best though, I enjoy talking about her. Great character, great waifu.

>396395138
sephiroth and barrett look fine

Aerith doesn't fully comprehend what it means to be a Cetra until she goes to the Temple of the Ancients. She knew she was one, but didn't know what it meant and it didn't inform a whole lot of her personality.

So, this is what happens when you use the Black Materia. Ultimate destructive power, indeed.

Imagine Advent Children, though.
>What I want, Cloud, is to sail the darkness of the cosmos with this planet as my vessel.

Sephiroth and Barret don't look half bad, the beard and dark eyes sell it for Seph.

Aeris was my childhood waifu.

She is so beautiful.

tbf Barret looks kinda cool

One of my favorite things about Aeris is that despite her teasing nature, she actually doesn't come off as a mean-spirited or insecure bitch at all. She's just charming and cool. I guess some people just hate fun

>girl whose name is spelled with an S
Well nice to know I can discard the entire thing.

>Barret is white

My fucking sides.

No Sephiroth just looks like he got lost on his way to Afro Samurai

Sephiroth looks cooler like this.

Yes she is.

>Watches a member of his party die permanently
>Vivi counts even though it's after the game and Zidane didn't watch it

...

You are a man of a fine taste.

I want to hold her hand and protect her.

...

He looks Asian to me?

Ofcourse.

Actually, I have a few. h/o

Doing God's work user

Looking back, it’s amazing how the devs fucked with everyone.
Barely thirty minutes before she died, they had Cait Sith make a big deal over his supposed sacrifice, then immediately come back.
It’s no wonder that there were thousands of rumours over being able to bring her back when they pulled that shit.

Crafty nips.

We know Cloud. Me too. ;_;

I can't wait to see how beautiful she looks in the Remake. Hopefully they don't fuck it up.

you are now aware that this guy was being comforted by Aeris right before his death. Not a bad way to go all things considered.

Back when Nomura didn't always look like a fat midget. Those were the days.

I'm sorry user but they will.
Like pretty much everybody post-VII, Square just won't stop fucking with the characters. Aeristh has been transformed into this quasi-angelic figure. There's no trace left of the girl that threatened to smash Don Corneo's balls.

I have always been a Tiffa guy but this comment really encapsulates Aeris' character and I just realized that. I appreciate her more now in retrospective.

...

Can someone refresh my memory and tell why Zack decided to go back to Midgar after Nibelheim incident? I can't quite remember his reasoning, why the retard haven't decided on settling in backwards village in the middle of nowhere? I played CC and OG years ago and this keeps bugging me.

She's like a literal angel. Literally too perfect for this world.

To set up his own mercenary work with Cloud.

The original reason was because he was heading there to get some work as a mercenary
The CC reason was because he wanted to see Aerith and deliberately walked into a trap because
>muh price of freedom

Yeah, but why Midgar of all places, the base of people who were chasing them?

I want to believe that's because we haven't seen much of OG Aeris, she is younger in CC after all. She is pretty cheeky in KH to be honest, a nice scene with Leon I think? I hope they at least get her personality right. I know even that might be asking for too much though.

...

Sara doesn't join you.

Ah, so he was a retard, just like I remembered him. Thanks for the help anons.

That's all I got on me. Rest is on my computer.

It says nothing about the price/princess joining to party, just that there is one.

Because one that's where Aertih is, and two it's the only city on the goddamned planet.

Goddamn it I hated Crisis core
Okay, the gameplay was pretty fun aside from the completely randomized limit breaks but the story was a wretched abortion. I hated Gackt so fucking much, the poetry-quoting faggot. And what really pisses me off was Loveless. See, in the original VII you could chart with Cid on the Highwind in Disc 3 and he tells you about how he went to see it and it's nothing like the CC version. It was a love story that was written in plain old English. There was nothing about a goddess or 3 friends or any of that shit and it certainly wasn't written in ye olde English. Yet every time we see Gackt it's goddess this, wings that. Just thinking about it is pissing me off.

In the flashback, I didn't get the sense that Zack realized he was #1 on Shinra's shit list at the time. Nobody really seemed to know the scope of Shinra's attempts to sanitize the Nibelheim Incident unless they went back to the town.

>I willnever buy flower from Aerith
>I will never sudennly wake up near Aerith
>I will never go date with Aerith
>I will never cuddle with aerith
Why live?

Let's hope Remake will abolish all the fucking Compilation or most of it.

>I appreciate her more now in retrospective.

My job here is done.

That was what made his death so poignant - there was no climactic showdown against the Shinra army, no valiant struggle to the last, no heroic adherence to his principles, no friends trying to save him amidst the conflict. He was just randomly shot and killed by an armed patrol. By removing that and trying to make it into something it wasn't, it completely butchered any gravity.

Aeris is cute.

Im playing ff7 for the first time, just beat hojo and Ultima Weapon, am at level 55 with Cloud Barret and Tifa.
The only things left before going to fight Sephiroth are getting the Omnislash, Emerald and Ruby Weapons, and Chocobo breeding.
Any tips for grinding?

I hope it does. I really hope to God it does. If I get to the Nibelheim flashback scene and I hear the words "Infinite in mystery is the gift of the Goddess" I will switch of the console then and there, eject the disc, take it back to the store, get a refund and swear off of Square for life. I will not let them ruin it for me.

So, I am not the only one who thinks that the ending of CC was overly dramatic, thus very cheap and out of place?

fpbp

>95% of it applies to CT
My sides.

I'm just glad that no media has ever tried to re-do Aerith's death in the same way, because it worked for the same reason. There was no heroic moment, she didn't intend to sacrifice herself or anything, and it was quick and brutal, no last words or nothing. You didn't even have any idea why she went to the Ancient City in the first place until like fifteen hours later. I have no doubt that they'd overdo it in the same way they overdid Zack's death in Crisis Core.

sunken ship is a pretty good place.
If you have Yuffie and conformer, you can get unlimited Guard/magic/etc sources too

You can also get Master Materia.
To get them, you need to have one of every materia in a certain category mastered, then head to Cosmo Canyon and interact with the appropriate Huge Materia. Doing so will merge them all together.
It's a bit of a grind. I recommend getting using Cid and Cloud for the Scimitar and Apocalype weapons triple growth, then head into the Northern Crater and battle Movers/Magic Pots. Best source of EXP/AP in the game.

All of the best grinding options are in the final dungeon. There's a swamp-like area near the end where you can encounter Movers and Magic Pots. Movers give 5000 AP per encounter, and Magic Pots give an absurd amount of EXP and Gil if you give them Elixirs (which you can clone with the W-Item glitch depending on the version).

Emerald and Ruby are superbosses and unless you intend to make every party member 99 then don't hold off on Sephiroth until then. I say this because there's a complex algorithm that determines how hard Safer Sephiroth is and everyone at 99 gives him way more health.

No, it's whether you use KOTR on Bizarro Sephiroth that determines how strong he is

I remember using an autofire pad with a penny jammed under the d-pad to farm sauces when I was a kid

I thought that it was determined by how quickly you defeat JENOVA Synthesis, with a KOTR use on her giving him the biggest health boost.

>Safer∙Sephiroth's base stats are listed in the table, but they change depending on many variables:
>For every character at Level 99 (not counting Aeris), 30,000 maximum HP, 2 Attack, 20 Defense, 5 Magic Attack, and 16 Magic Defense are added to Safer∙Sephiroth's stats.
>If Knights of the Round was cast on Jenova∙SYNTHESIS, Safer∙Sephiroth receives an extra 80,000 maximum HP.
>For every time Bizarro∙Sephiroth's head was killed during the previous fight, Safer∙Sephiroth's maximum HP is reduced by 100, up to a maximum reduction of 24,900 HP.

>Considering all these, Safer∙Sephiroth's maximum stats (bracketed in the table) are:
>400,000 maximum HP, 246 Attack, 260 Defense, 140 Magic Power, and 308 Magic Defense.

Exactly

Changing her death scene into martyrdom of some sorts, with heavenly angels taking her to heaven or whatever will be the biggest mistake of Remake, I hope SE won't do it, but I start to feel afraid now. It would be a huge disappointment.

>and that zombie from the Shinra mansion basement that takes twenty minutes to do a regular normal attack doesn't show up,
Jesus Christ that one infuriated me.
Especially if you were low on MP

You fags do know Nomura practically runs things now, right?
