What are your hopes and dreams for Pikmin 4 Sup Forums?
/pikmin/
that it releases
At this point, that really IS a dream
Come on bros, try to be a little optimistic. I personally hope they bring back the dungeon-crawling element from Pikmin 2
Admittedly, it will most likely be announced in 2018, released then too if we're lucky.
On the topic of caves returning, I'm not really sure if they will. It could go either way really, though I too would love it if they did, so long as they aren't flat, randomly generated enemy rooms like in 2. A few people were saying that they should be like zelda dungeons which would be cool.
>Shiggy said it was basiclly done
>This was two years ago.
REEEEEE
>people think it'll happen
>zelda dungeons
That would be great. A mixture of puzzle-solving and combat with a boss at the end. There's so much potential here and I just hope they don't fuck it up
mario odyssey and botw pushed it back, according to shiggy
Gonna repost this because I like it
Additionally, it could be the boss of an old broken down car themed cave. It could specifically look like pic related, and be set up more like a divine beast from BOTW, while other caves are set up like more traditional zelda dungeons. The doors could be opened like in pic related, allowing you to walk all the way to the tip of them on the arm rests, similar to the wings of the bird divine beast. You could also turn on and off parts of the car, similar to how you have an interchangeable function for every divine beast in BOTW.
This Miyamoto is probably putting the finishing touches on it now that Mario odyssey finished development
Genius. I'd like to see more urban decay themed levels as well (maybe a rundown factory or industrial area). Overcast with light rain and rusty machinery everywhere
Thanks, I might flesh out the car idea a bit more later, as I could imagine the "divine beast function" could be turning the car on and off by hotwiring it with yellow pikmin, ala lightbulbs in pikmin three.
Also throwing pikmin at the center of the steering wheel will cause it to honk its horn, though I don't know if that would be used for anything mechanic wise.
I really liked this concept from the last thread:
>green pikmin have sharp leaves on their heads that can cut down trees and deal high damage in combat but their leaves need to be repaired and strengthened with nectar.
Does this mark the return of Pikmin threads? Is it finally safe to come back out of hiding?
>survival mode where you have to spend a night on the surface
He has barely anything to do with those games though.
I'm sure Star Fox Zero didn't help though.
together we are strong
I was daydreaming abot something similar to this, but it was an abandoned house with trees and stuff growing in it while being overcast and drizzly. It would be the area you first crashland in due to being struck by lightning in the rain. When you start off there, you can't do much there and a majority of it would be locked off, but you would return to it later as the final area and unlock the rest of it to be able to treck the rest of the house.
I would be ok with this
How do you even make Pikmin a good game? It's just telling ants what to do and lots of waiting.
I think he said something about those games needing a majority of the dev teams that he had for Pikmin 4 or something
Oversimplifying the premise of it would make any game look bad
what new areas would you like to see in pikmin 4?
Overcast urban decay area with light rain (abandoned house)
Snowstorm area where you have to traverse through tunnels in the snow
...
Wii controller support
This but they don't pussy out on it. I want it to ball busting hard even with 100 pikmin of all types
Area sor of like pic related.
Maybe not necessarily a cliffside, but something that has more of a verticality focus.
All I want is being able to collect treasure instead of fruits again and the beastiary from 2, complete with analytic descriptions from Olimar and cooking tips from Louie.
What a fucking great idea that looks super fun
This. Some user said something in the last thread about having fruits be above ground treasures to fuel your day count, and have actual treasures all be obtainable in caves
pikmin in overgrown manhattan
MODS MODS MODS
Hey, what's that? You were hoping for a Iridescent Glint Beetle? Fuck you. It was I! Doodle bug!
...
What's that? You thought your Pikmin were safe from me underground? FUCK YOU! I've plucked them and they're now dead.
>My dumbass didn't realize that you could've set Pikmin to progressive scan on Dolphin
Aaaaaaaaaaaah why didn't you guys tell me this
Anyone rememver that user who would post pictures of random areas in his backyard n shit that he thought looked like good pikmin maps?
That was fun
Why doesn't Nintendo love me and let me, or some variant, return? Anyway, i've turned your pikmin into clickers and they are attacking you. Have fun with that
ONLINE CO-OP OR VS.
I hope Miyamoto goes all out with this one
Pikmin on the switch sounds amazing.
Return of all colors
Buff yellows back to p1 levels
Buff rock pikmin
Rocks become a spray status buff
Piklopedia
All enemies from 1-3 return
New enemies
Another wraith boss that merges with the other two
More everyday items as treasures
Caves return but they're harder
Nightime expeditions which are full of strong enemies exclusive to nighttime, mini bosses roaming around.
more than 5 maps and no dlc, or at least paid dlc
But considering the modern times, I'm surely asking for too much
So do you guys play it as, if shit happens shit happens or do you guys play as everything went to shit let me reset and start again
Also remove the roll, it was too strong.
Too stinky
I'm right here, user
and I've found a ot of my super old pictures and concepts
Honestly, I'm more fascinated by a battlefield tier game where you're insect sized humans battling each other in "a long forgotten giant race's backyard"
If I lose 20 or 30 Pikmin due to a screw up I just accept it and move on, but if I get 90 of my Pikmin killed due to a stupid mistake I usually reset.
I'd like to see a free for all mode
Mite b cool
Post those pics my man.
Shit, that would be pretty cool.
I'll try to. I've been studying for exams all day, so bare with me
...
I'd really like to see something beachy, and not just generic tropical area like in Pikmin 3. I want to see more sand and little watery alcoves and caves.
Oh boy a motherfucking Pikmin thread. My favourite.
I liked that user. Pikmin threads were always comfy as fuck and brought out Miyamoto style autism.
Plus, borbposting.
Gonna just repost one of my newer picture sets in the meantime
>This could be the entrance to a joustmite themed Cave in the house area of the game. The cave is reached by building a long ceramic bridge to the potted plant. Once you get there you notice a hole leading straight down in the dirt in the pot. The story behind it is that a queen joustmite burrowes into the pot when it was young, but as it grew it broke through it and made a system of tunnels underground where hoards of its joustmite offspring reside, along with the queen itself at the end of the cave.
The cave itself is much like the inside of an ant hill, in that it has lots and lots of tunnels in which to get lost in.
>Joustmite
Why the hell did they replaced Burrow-nits with this thing anyway? There were a lot of weird design decisions like that in 3.
Have you ever considered Pikmin 2 modding? There's been a whole bunch of new shit released in the past few months so you could basically make a whole new game at this point if you really wanted to.
>And here's the new batch of photos. They don't really show off anything all that new or interesting, but I see it so much that I just felt like taking more picutres of it.
The top image is just basically a panoramic view of this little section of the house area. The pot to the left is the entrance to the Joustmite themed cave, the little pipe in the center could be a small reference to another cave in the House area themed after the Man-at-Legs (which will mostly take place inside the house), in which is spewing out fog and somewhat shrouding the small pot section, due to the Man-at-Legs emitting steam from it's exaust pipes. Once it is killed, the fog will go away. To the far right is just another pot, which I'm not sure will have any significance other than just being decoration.
The rest of the photos are just different angles of the pot and window. The window itself will probably be broken, and you of course walk along the ledge on it inside the house, to cross the bridge and onto the pot.
These two batches of photos aren't the really old ones I was talking about, but I'm just posting these to bump the thread while I juggle looking for them and studying.
Fuck me. Here's the pic
ᵏᶦᶫᶫ ᵐᵉᵉᵉ
>Oh shit here's even more that I just found. The left is obviously just a reverse of most of the photos with a view of the house and window from the pot, and after that it's just closer and closer views of the spot where the entrance to the cave would be.
>this guy walks up to you and eats all of your blue pikmin
>what do?
It's time to get lewd
They would never do that. They are mostly harmless lifeforms.
>Here's a really cool dome-shaped drain I found, which some sort of ledge inside it, before dropping off to the actual drain. This would make for a really cool boss arena for a cave.
>More specifically, it could be the boss room for a Winged Pikmin themed cave aka: a cave that becomes available soon after discovering winged pikmin. I'm not sure exactly what the boss will be, though I'm thinking maybe a type of puffy blowhog, or a huge species of Snitchbug with extremely strong arms that smash onto the ledge. Either way the boss will float up from the hole in the center.
>swole Snitchbug
Kek.
Abandoned construction site where you have to walk on girders and wade through huge ponds of tar. On the top of the girders is a new and improved Titan Dwevil using hardware tools to fight you.
Area that takes place in an abandoned city. This would make for lots of cool caves/dungeons if they chose to add thise in this time around

>[R.O.B. Pikmin Boss. "Possessive Water Wraith" and "The Submerged Kingdom"]
>Pt. 1
>The "Possessive Water Wraith" is the creature that resides at the lowest possible point of the cave "The Submerged Kingdom." Now, obviously this is a nod to Pikmin 2's Submerged Castle in every conceivable way, but going with the idea that I'd love for there to be an area in Pikmin 4 that takes place entirely in a house, I thought it would be cool to have the The Submerged Kingdom take place in the water system of the house, starting at the exposed pipe where a sprinkler head used to be, due to it being ripped off by a new type of enemy that seems to be looking for water, but more on that later. After entering the cave you work your way through the pipes to find little areas here and there that will be the sub-levels of the cave. After the third sub-level, you begin to follow what seems to be the water wraith from Pikmin 2 only without its stone rollers through each sublevel (while still collecting treasure of course) until you work your way to the sceptic tank of the house, that is full of water (implying that the wraith "eacaped"), trigger a battle with a Ranging Bloyster. After the fight, you take the pipe from the sceptic tank to the shower and bathtub of one of the bathrooms of the house. Collect the treasure, kill the enemies, etc, in the bathtub after falling through to opened shower head, and leave through the drain, noticing that all these ways are suspiciously open enough for something solid to pass through. The drainage pipes lead to the nearby sewer, which is the final sub-level.
>[R.O.B. Pikmin Boss. "Possessive Water Wraith" and "The Submerged Kingdom"]
>Pt. 2
>You walk through the corridors of the sewer for a short amount of time, before spotting the Wraith, whom you chase until you reach the drainage area of the sewer where the manhole slightly open, letting in some light. The wraith disappears into the dark, corridor
On the other side. You soon realize that the whole chase was merely a trap, as the wraith has lead you to it's den and weapon of choice to immobilize it's pray: a R.O.B. That had fallen into the sewer via the open manhole. The now possessed R.O.B. Slowly enters the boss room, ready to stack anything up it sees, just to pelt falling pillars of whatever it gets it's hands on, as well as hammer-like slams of it's arms agains the ground, flattening any Pikmin that are caught under it's slender arms. After defeating it, the wraith leaves the robot and seeps into the ground, leaving R.O.B. In pieces, all of which you are able to take back as treasure. The exit is a geyser that lands you in a new area of the house.

a versus mode
more rts game mechanics
Finally, getting into the pictures and ideas I had a while ago that got deleted when my shit got all fucked up.
>I think it would be the coolest shit ever if after every world boss, instead having the boss just cough up the treasure in front of you, it would lead you to a room where the treasure was, and every treasure room was this huge ass landscape, made specifically for the view, and if you wait there longg enough, you'll barely see a real animal in the back ground.
>For instance: there you just killed a boss in the forest area of the game, and you go to the room dedicated to that boss's treasure, and it shows a HUGE expance of forestry, and if you wait there for a few minutes, you can barely see a huge ass deer or moose walk by in the distance.
>Another example could be a beach-side boss fight, which leads to its treasure room and a beautiful view of the ocean, where you can see a dophin or a whale briefly surface.
More beach please
Shit, I guess the thread is done for...
What new pikmin types would you like to see?
new pikmin ideas?
>burrowing pikmin
>can go under certain obstacles and can attack certain enemies that have their body guarded from the top and strike at their vulnerable bellies
>camouflaged pikmin
>pseudo stealth mechanics
>have reduced aggro radius
>when standing still are nearly invisible
>can haul items to the spaceship with reduced aggro radius
>infesting pikmin
>can infest a target with a certain amount of pikmin, taking control of that unit as part of your army
>healing pikmin
>worth the supply of 3 pikmin
>can do a small aoe heal
