Most interesting region to travel through, great poke variety, story was there but it didn't shove cutscenes in your face

Yeah it's really good. Second favorite behind HG/SS. The little touches are appreciated, the national dex has a great selection, and the route through Unova is a bit more interesting compared to BW1. There are two side game detours after the second and fifth gym, but the latter, the PWT, actually has some battling so its not as intrusive to the main game as Pokestar Studios after the second gym. Only one rival as well, so way fewer rival interruptions compared to BW.

hard mode is the best pre-endgame experience I've ever had, but you need to finish the game first (I have the theory that it was set to fail intentionally since it was too much work for them) or I think its possible to get it from someone else who has finished the game and used to be possible via wifi (which is dead right now).

its endgame is also pretty good, not sure if the best but definitely on top

I started playing it recenty too since it was the only Pokemon game I skipped.
It's pretty fun so far however I feel like the game nudges you into using certain Mons too heavily.

I hated the story and being interrupted by Cheren and Bianca every fucking 5 minutes with their cheery attitude. Hugh was doing his own thing in the sequels and you just happened to help him along the way and that was way better for me.

I hate XY because they multiplied what I hated about BW1 by 10.

I got to around the ghost trial and just completely lost interest. The constant cutscenes and focus on some nonsense story I couldn't even pretend to give a shit about just kind of killed it for me. A lot of the new Pokemon seemed very slow or otherwise underwhelming.

If it gets better from there on, I'd be tempted to try it again, but if it's more of the same then it's the only Pokemon game I just can't bring myself to finish. And I (forced) myself through goddamn ORAS.

Only relative to the games they exist to fix. A couple of minor additions hardly saves the shitheaps that were Gen 3 and 4.

For as much praise it gets, B2W2 still has a the major problem of an intrusive story/cutscenes and forced segments like Pokestar Studios.

I don't like the BW soundfont I liked gen 3's trumpets but the track is pretty catchy and makes for a good rival theme.
