What are your thoughts on speedrunning...

What are your thoughts on speedrunning? I want to learn to speedrun a game but at the same time I don't want to speedrun my favorite games since I like to replay them from time to time without breaking them.

Do you speedrun any game? Do you like watching speedrunners? What do you think is the longest a speedrun should last? Comfiest game to watch?

I've been watching mario 64 speed runs a lot and started fucking around in it last week. I think you're fine if you go into it with a super casual mindset. You don't want to go after world records here since you'll want to kill yourself. You just want to be able to beat your favorite game in an hour or whatever. Just look up the beginner strats and/or strats that are not glitch heavy.

I very much enjoy watching cringe/rage compilations of speedrunners being retards. I don't have anything against the act of doing it itself. I could never become a speedrunner myself.

I kinda wanna go to a speedrunning event where everyone sits in a room and watches the runner, cuz it looks comfy and everyone is a loser there anyway. I just wish it was a bit darker.

check gladJonas on Jewtube if you haven't

It's retarded, yet intriguing. I like watching speedruns on occasion, but I would hate to have to commit myself to playing the same game over and over, when I have so many other games to play.

if you have any thoughts on speedrunning beyond "i don't care" you're probable a human failure and should consider suicide

subbed already, but I like the guy who gives some brief commentary before each clip better.

using glitches as excuses for getting "records" is the same as using cheats.
>Hey if you jump 3 times to this ceiling it teleports you to the end of the game!
>Not a cheat bro, it's a glitch. Everything was totally legit!

to be honest, I started to be interested in speedrunning because I barely have time to finish games anymore because of school. I finish like 3 or 4 games a year. I don't want to live off from streaming or any shit like that. Just like the first poster said. I just want to finish some games in an hour or less

>but I like the guy who gives some brief commentary before each clip better.
?

That's not speedrunning. That's just playing a game quickly and avoiding all the extra stuff, and ending up unsatisfied because you rushed through a game and missed half the content.

Speedrunning is playing the same game literally thousands of times and doing it faster each time by being as autistic as possible and learning all the physics mechanics and shit which you practice 10000 times over to shave that extra 0.2 seconds off the record.

Speedrunners play single games 100 times longer than most people ever will.

you do know there are glitchless categories right?

it was good in 2013 shit in 2014 and finally died along with cosmo

Can be enjoyable to watch but i don't understand why someone would be wasting their time perfecting a speedrun of a fucking VIDEO GAME.
Probably the most autistic hobby you can have.

i switched to watching people trying to get highscores in shmups

Shumps have been dead for over a decade

Ok has long as they dont use glitches or bugs in the game. I dont like watching it, because watching some else play videogames its idiotic.

sure there are specific "glitch runs" and only they get actually reported on. Because "it so special..."

Speedrunning = Extreme Autism

Even speedrunners hate themselves

>attempting to exercise a futile skill
My dear anonymous [original] poster, in my personal opinions, the process of speedrunning, and the community that revolves around it, are ultimately hollow, and the video game community about speedrunning seems to allure the worst of humanity that identify as their opposite sex or any nonbinary sex, to mean spirited elitists that focus way too much on their "talent", that I may dare affirm, are degenerated pieces of human society.
To conclude my border of text, you're a huge faggot if you speedrun. Good day.

>What are your thoughts on speedrunning?
It's autism.

Cosmo's sanity, anyway

>I want to learn to speedrun a game
Why? Fucking why? It is not "comfy." It's about as enjoyable as 8 hours of programming.

>not speedrunning the most fun games
>not making 5k+ a month

>doing that when you could be making +13k a month from drawing halfassed smut for degenerate furfags on a tablet every once in a while during the week

Where do I go to watch this? It sounds interesting.

>I want to learn to speedrun a game
Don't. It's not fun. Even if you like challenges in games, the constant repetition and lack of progress immediately sucks the fun out of it.

>Do you speedrun any game?
I have, but only out of some weird obligation because I love the series so much.

>Do you like watching speedrunners?
Yes, watching a speedrun is way more fun than doing one.

>What do you think is the longest a speedrun should last?
2 hours. Once it gets past that it's very rarely worth watching, let alone doing in the first place.

>Comfiest game to watch?
Something skillful and glitchless. Once it goes out of bounds I lose interest fast

i cant speedrum because there is not more radiation in the air for my internet to work

Kinda conflicting. On the one hand, it gives you an opportunity to show off your mastery of a game's mechanics and be the best in the world at something without an objective scoring system. On the other hand, the stress it produces is ridiculous to the point of vaporizing any sense of comfort or pleasure that a casual run would allow. I did a few runs of Twin Snakes, which is an easy game, but the sheer amount of ass-clenching panic at every turn even there was nuts. You have to really give a shit about shaving off those few seconds, or it just doesn't work. Not to mention, the whole process is very physically and mentally taxing, yet doesn't even benefit you in the long-run like real sports. Speedrunning is essentially like a super stressful form of gambling where you invest a lot of time and energy for the unlikely high of a PB. It's weird.

Also it's possibly the easiest hobby to make fun of in the world, which is another reason I quit.

I never got the concept for speedrunning. Its really only good for cringe honestly. Most games were not designed with it in mind, so trying to get the fastest speed on a game comes off even more pointless.

Apollo Legend

I tired Speedrunning once, after 2 weeks I wanted to take estrogen.

I was able to stop playing and now I'm a functional human being again.

Be non-degenerate. Don't speedrun.

I used to speedrun a game. I did it for a few months, but I can't get back into it. I don't get how people can speedrun the same game for years.
I wish I could. It was awesome always having something to do. Unfortunately the game I ran had a 23ish minute boring ass intro which is another reason I'm unable to do it again.

As someone who was really into speedrunning 6 or 7 years ago, right now it's a hotbed of concentrated degeneracy, autism and rancid "people". I now only watch one speedrunner who is still as good as he was back in 2012.

>extra credits

What game? one of the KH games?

I do know that whoever does Extra Credits has the stupidest opinions on video games this side of DSP and Chris-chan. People can speedrun all they want, I'm not into it but cool if you are.

Guys we are running out of Internet.
