Go back and play Sunshine immediately if you can't trust your memory fully. Then play either Galaxy 2 or 3D World to compare. I say Sunshine instead of 64 because if you're older than 20 then you probably know 64 like the back of your hand.

Odyssey is probably exactly what you're looking for if you want a sandbox collectathon, but if you want a tighter platformer you're going to have to do a lot more searching in the game for those sequences. Even then they're over a lot fast than they would be in the course clear games.

Xeno 2 I don't know about as I haven't played Xenoblade yet, but I can only be cautiously interested at best in FE and Pokemon after how awful both FE Awakening, Fates and Pokemon S/M were.

You'll play it once and inevitably get tired of it and maybe in a year or two revisit it, but it'll just continue to collect dust. Rent it instead.
