this would be a bait thread if it weren't true
I bought a switch specifically for those two games and I end up playing it more than my ps4 and pc combined.
I bought a Switch and was severely let down by BotW. The game is boring as fuck.
Wish I had more reasons to play my Switch, but hot damn was this a good launch year.
both games are average
only get high scores because nintendo bonus
Odyssey is fun, though I wouldn't call it a 10/10 masterpiece
BotW is a shitty tech demo with the most boring world ever in a video game
As someone who has put countless hours into both games, I feel like directly comparing them to OOT or SM64 is a little extreme. That's something we'll only really know with time.
That said, they ARE absolutely spectacular games, and the Switch absolutely has at least matched, if not surpassed, the quality and value of the PS4 and Xbone's accumulated 5 years inside of 9 months, which is pretty miraculous.
I'm more excited about the Switch than I've been about any console since the PS2
Man I'd hate to not be able to appreciate the masterpiece that game is.
I think they're comparable in that they both represent major leaps forward in their respective series, and will likely serve as design foundations for future entries.
This is also a good point
I hope we get a new zelda game in 2-3 years instead of the usual 5-6 drought.
BotW isn't perfect, a sequel cold be a GOAT game if they ironed out some of the flaws.
I hear you, OP. Both teams knocked it out of the stadium.
If you think it's a masterpiece then any modern ubishit game must be the fucking holy grail.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
BotW and Oddyssey are very solid games.
However they won't inspire an entire generation to be fedora tipping autists and retarded speedrunners. They also won't inspire devs like 64 and OoT did.
The fact that you'd even think this just illustrates my point: You have absolutely no idea what makes BotW amazing, and that's really sad.
I don't know, one of the WR holders for BotW is a pretty autistic crossdressing guy. Cosmo's legacy lives on.
Dude, botw was the talk of the industry when it came out. Plenty of studios and devs commented on how the game was incredible.
>Nintendo fans have become so game starved since the Wii days that they lowered their standards to such lows where they unironically consider two 5/10 meme tier video game blogers approved games to be the successors of two of the best games ever made
Neo-Nintenbros are just sad.
But Ocarina was better than Botw
SM64 has been topped like three times by now.
>two of the most critically acclaimed games of recent years (and all time for that matter)
>5/10 meme tier games
What's sad is your denial and console war faggotry
by what? Not disagreeing just wondering what games you think were better
Galaxy games and Odyssey. SM64 doesn't have enough platforming and or stage variety to it and the camera is a hassle at times.
cool I was actually thinking the Galaxy games were better too. The music alone was incredible
It's a shame that Pokemon isn't in the hands of Nintendo themselves, otherwise we could have a trifecta of GOTY Masterpieces,
Shit you're right, what is it with speedrunning and trannies?
Yeah, SMG2 is still my favorite I think simply due to how much creativity and level variety there is in it. Each time you went to a new galaxy it was a brand new concept being incorporated into the platforming, really fucking good game for that alone but the music, as you pointed out, and presentation values definitely add to the experience.
I could see Odyssey taking it from my #1 spot, I"ll have to see when I replay it though. I feel like they could've shrunk the moon count by 20% and the game would've benefitted from it because some of them just feel pretty lazy but Cappy was a great addition to Mario's moveset and the game was oozing with creativity the whole way through. Bit disappointed by the soundtrack though. I can definitely say I like Odyssey more than the 3D games and Sunshine, although I really like those games too so I'm not hating on them or anything.
totp kek no one has or ever will care about these shitty nostalgia games. I don't know a single person IRL who plays video games that ever even considered getting a Switch or followed the hype for either of those games.
well user that's probably because...
>I don't know a single person IRL
The last of us is critically accalimed. Doesn't mean it's good
I like Mario. But fuck I don't care if people here don't like it. You drones need everyone to like it or you feel the game is invalidated
its great but its just a shame the console itself sucks
This, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse than the Wii U they go an release the Switch.
>you lived long enough to see another Super Mario 64-quality Mario
TRUE
but only cause 64 i overrated
>and another Ocarina of Time-caliber Zelda
FALSE
OoT is GOAT BotW is TP level decent
>Super Mario 64-quality
>literally who writing dumb shit
Odyssey is good, BotW is absolute garbage.
