Should I turn motion blur on or off? I kinda like it in motion but it makes screenshots look dumb

Should I turn motion blur on or off? I kinda like it in motion but it makes screenshots look dumb.

Performance is not an issue.

out of the way dirty lügenpresse, absolute fact coming through
motion blur makes video games look objectively worse

Incorrect.

Below is factual objective fact:

Object based motion blur mimics reality where photons bounce off things and to your eyes in limited capacity the faster something moves.

This creates a real sense of weight and momentum and velocity to movement. Dark Souls games all come with it on as standard and it helps the dynamic between fast and slow moves feel really apparent.

Camera movement motion blur however is cancer, pure cancer. Motion blur should only apply to objects within the frame itself that are moving and only based on their speed. Faster = more blur. Slower = no blur.

>motion blur off
>depth of field off
>chromatic aberration off
and everytihng is ok with the world

>motion blur in a game where you run at 3mph

I was doing a dive/roll during this scene, but I get your point.

tpbp

fpbp

>leaving screen space reflections on

I wish I could turn off real motion blur. Reality would look much better.

Blur is a trick to make you notice lower frame rates. If you have high frames then there no point of it being on.

it was literally invented to hide shit framerates.

>Lens flare off
>Bloom off
>Color correction off
There we go

but that effect appears naturally when you have a lot of fps

>he doesnt turn off depth of field

user...

>turn off
>computer off
>blow head off
Now everything is right

60hz displays are still the most common and that's not high enough for natural motion blur

>Should I willingly keep a visual effect that makes things less clear enabled?

Motion blur and DoF shouldn't exist at all.

But real life is only 24fps, that's why it's so cinematic (tm)!

i dont mind blur and i think its good as long as its not camera blur, but the actual fast moving objects having blur
sadly only a few games have options for the 2

user what, frogfuck? Never mind, don't bother replying.

Did you even read what I added on to retard? I didn't think I would have to spell it out for you

Bloom can be ok, as long as it's not overdone.

nah it works fine at 60 fps mate it's lighter in effect than fake motion blur but it works
it's really useful at 30 fps and when it's not stable

DoF is supposed to mimic the focus range of your eye because you can't focus on something far and close at the same time if it's correctly applied then why not but

you forgot post processing off and screen shake off

You should uninstall the game because you're a beta consumer ruining the industry

Motion blur is when real light hits a camera lens. In games its added after the frame is render, hence the 'post' processing effects.
You both don't know what you're talking about.

marvel and disney and the fast and furious movies don't prevent good film from being made
why would it be different for video games ?

I understand what it's suppose to emulate but it's still shitty, because if you focus on one part of the screen, the rest is going to be blurred out, more or less. They don't need to do it when your eyes do it themselves. DoF is basically just the devs saying "no, you can't look at that until we say you can", or, a cheap way to lower textures.

Good question, but you can't deny that lootboxes are shoved into every big western game.
