Regardless of what you think, story is important, the gamplay may be marginally better than the original, but the level design and pacing both take a hit, shit like that adds up. It isn't the better game.

Anyone who does not consider BioShock 2 to be the best game in the series is an absolute brainlet with no taste or appreciation for art.

It is an absolutely amazing game, both in game-play and story-wise. It's completely polished, extremely immersive and atmospheric, and deals with a lot personal issues that is bound to make you reconsider your own moral compass.

And I didn't even mention the amazing DLC pack it received.

In terms of negatives, not being able to freely go back to areas you already visited is pretty shitty. Still, a small price to pay considering how much everything else was improved.

It has a worse story than 1, but better gameplay. The weapons are a lot more fun too.

I feel like this is a complain that people make without really thinking it through. Prey did this, for example, and I'm pretty sure that hurt its overall design because fuck going through that main hub and clearing shit out every five minutes.

Also, I've replayed Bioshock 1 plenty of times and not once has the urge to backtrack previous areas ever entered my mind. Linear games just don't seem to need it. Now a NG+ option for 2, that shit should have been there day 1.
