Why is video game music such an underappreciated form of art? It's just as important to making a game good as story or gameplay, but it isn't noticed as much as them.

both story and music are subordinate to gameplay though
>listening to video game music
Only lonely virgins do that shit. I don't want to hear someone blaring BING BING WAHOOOOO TIME in public.
Take it easy Chad, don't roast the poor boy.
Soundtracks in general are underappreciated, not only in games
It's probably the least important aspect of a game except for maybe the color of the UI. If given the option, I turn off in game music 95% of the time. If there's no option to do so, I usually play on mute. I find it horribly distracting.
Videogame music is to music what videogame writing is to books.
Buy some taste, teenager.
Yeah, how dare someone play video games and listen to their music? Thank god we have this board where we don't have to worry about dealing with any of that.
because the common video game fan is clueless when it comes to music
...
Plebs that's all
You won't believe me, but when I was in Walmart the other day, they actually played Guile's Theme or a remix of it over the store muzak speakers. I don't think anyone noticed.
I still regularly listen to this one.

Music far surpasses story as far as importance goes.
I pity you

This isn't awful for a video game, but a lot of it is just shitty industrial music.
cause most devs are cheap cunts that buy like 3-4 tracks and call it a fucking day and most people grew up with the "wall of sound" bullshit that is basically DIAL MUSIC UP TO 11 SO NO ONE CAN HEAR WTF IS GOING ON HOLY FUCK THIS IS RETARDED WHY DO YOU DO THIS
Outside of old shit from 60's-90's, I cant find any music I actually enjoy outside of Vidya/Movies/TV Series soundtracks.
About half the shit on the radio is the same garbage I filtered out in the 90's/00's just now with even less effort put into it and eletronic shit covered all over.
Actually recommend me some good stuff, if not i'm going back to listening to Sonic Eraser on my i-Pod thank you very much.
Kirby is Kino tho.
shitty industrial music got me hyped in 1996, building a military industrial complex and all. I have to admit it sounds a bit cheesy now, but I nostalgia hard every time and I can even hear the Mammoth tanks shooting and the ACKNOWLEDGED through the tracks
>Outside of old shit from the 60's-90's
Oh, so you're one of those little tykes that yearns to be in the past.
Depends.
-If it's chiptune trash or a basic electronic on repeat loop, then literally kill yourself.
-If its some of the games/remixes with effort put into the soundtracks and actually sound good, then I have no qualms.
-Some games just have 3rd party soundtracks such as GTA V or MGS V, which are fine in their own right and unquestionably acceptable
Also, keep calm, patrician taste coming through:

Nah, mostly just growing up with parents and older family members who liked sharing there music tastes. So being exposed to music of those eras kinda biased my view.
Like sure there are a few bands and artists I like nowadays but its alot less varied nowadays.
>Music choice
Patrician choice indeed faggot
