>People actually wondering why people are reporting for not switching heroes in Overwatch. >"M-m-muh one trick!" >"Hero switching is an integral part of the game"
If you can only play one hero in a TEAM BASED game based on hero picking and counter picking, you're garbage.
Luis Lewis
have people never heard of division of labour?
Gavin Walker
Did you hear that some dude got banned for 24 hours because he refused to switch? >If you can only play one hero in a TEAM BASED game based on hero picking and counter picking, you're garbage. Except shit like Mercy because Mercy fits every team comp ever because of this game's poor balancing
Oliver Turner
why don't the people reporting just switch character themselves
Jack Gomez
i bet your bitch ass calls the plumber when your toilet is clogged
Sebastian Russell
Mercy nerf next patch.
If you have one retard who likes playing a manlet because "muh one trick" it's still a 5v6 if he's being heavy countered.
Unfortunately this isn't a moba where you can make up for the one retard on your team.
Andrew White
>Mercy nerf next patch. If you think that's going to somehow make Mercy not viable in all team comps you'll be sorely disappointed. She is OP as fuck right now, the nerfs will simply knock her down a peg. Resurrecting allies is still the most powerful ability in a team-based game
Gavin Phillips
Not everyone can be Mercy. One trick Mercy would be like "errr I can't play anyone other than Mercy WAAAAH" if someone else got it.
Christopher Perez
>Sup Forums supports banning players for not following the Reddit-approved meta
Evan Sullivan
> based on hero picking and counter picking, you're garbage. Yes and the ranking system will tell you exactly how garbage.
If the ranknig systems matches you with people who are garbage, then you are garbage as well. If you actually are better, you will climb untill you reach equilibrium. Is there still retards not counter picking? You are just as bad as them, if not worse because you aren't better even when you counter pick
Tyler Russell
The only people who can only play 1 character well are Mercy mains.
Noah Butler
>game based on counter picking >you are counter picked by enemy team >you refuse to switch because "I'm a one trick"
Connor Butler
>based on hero picking and counter picking
Thats not true.
Asher Murphy
Following the meta is one thing, refusing to change characters in a game focused on counter-picking is another
Dominic Lewis
>people still playing fucking overwatch
Joshua Young
There not banning because of one-tricking, there banning because usually people who one trick refuse to work at all with there team, which blizzard contitutes banning.
Wyatt Jones
>one trick The fuck even is this new speak? It is called having a main, it happens in any competitive game cause some people really like to play a certain way. If the character, weapon, whatever is low tier they make it work and that struggle gives a great feeling of accomplishment
The problem isn't people not changing characters, it is that overwatch is such a shallow game that you must play the meta
John Johnson
It is though. It literally is.
If it wasn't you wouldn't be able to switch mid game.
Thomas Wright
>you have choice to play these characters >okay, I want to play X >NONONON YOU CANNOT PLAY X. CHANGE NOW OR GET BANNED So why doesn't the game auto-rotate your characters or force picks if choosing NOT to is not allowed?
Thomas Williams
Main's and "One Tricks" are different.
Main's are a preferred hero who will switch if they can't get their preferred hero.
One tricks are people who will stay on their chosen hero regardless of the circumstances.
Jacob Powell
>playing the only tank >beg someone to switch to a hitscan character to take care of phara wrecking us >WHY DON'T YOU SWITCH
Blake Cox
>s-stop playing games I don't like! TF2 i-isn't dead!
Lincoln Gray
>If you can only play one hero in a TEAM BASED game based on hero picking and counter picking, you're garbage say that to my face not online and see what happens
Austin Walker
i bet you made all furniture in your house yourself then, wiseass
Ethan Anderson
You’re fucking retarded. Holy shit.
This is why you suck at fighting games. Because you can’t blame your lack of skill on anyone but yourself.
Brody Ortiz
the answer to that is to bid the one trick farewell on his way to bronze
Ian Peterson
>game bans you for not switching characters You seriously can't make that shit up. Glad I never picked it up.
Adrian Perez
>game bans you for being bad at it
Evan Myers
>you have choice to play these characters >ok, I want to play X >Alright, the enemy is stomping us, could you switch from X, they have like 3 counters to X >WHAT I CAN'T PLAY ANY OTHER HERO! X IS MY MAIN IM SO GOOD AT X
Justin Clark
I don't play neither. Have fun eating blizzards shit.
Cooper Taylor
What? It's exactly the opposite. If I can't climb the ranks, then I am at fault. Not climbing means I'm just as good/bad as my teammates, no matter if they counter pick or not. Only by making my win rate above 50% can I climb. I don't have control over my team mates so what can I do? Git gud myself.
Wyatt Hall
Yes, resurrection is annoying as fuck, but it gets more annoying when the bitch can literally fly into a chaotic fight, rez, and get the fuck out to safety like nothing happened.
At least now mercy fucks will think twice before doing that since rez now takes almost 2 seconds to activate and it makes her lose movement.
Good fucking riddance.
Lucas Turner
There are One Tricks at Grand Master rank because they force their team to pick around them every match. As if they're special.
Jacob Johnson
TF2 is in no way about counter-picking, apart from pyros countering spies and spies countering engies/snipers
David Nguyen
>mercy nerf next patch How can you guys enjoy this insufferable cycle of fotm classes?
Nolan Bennett
I'm just tired of every game having instalock DPS; I'd like to play something other than tank or support every once in a while
Thomas Green
So why exactly doesn't the game make you force pick another character?
Eli James
you just gotta play their game and instalock DPS first.
Lucas Rivera
>you have choice to play these characters >ok, I want to play X >Alright, the enemy is stomping us, could you switch from X, they have like 3 counters to X >How about we attempt a different playstyle with our characters so they can be effective in multiple situations? >lol no this is overwatch
Connor Martin
Spies hardly counter engineer, they have to not be paying attention at all for that to work. Ubers counter engineer.
Juan Parker
Because one-tricking is not a bannable offense, not owrking with your team is. Also how do you even program a game to know when to force you to switch?
Cameron Taylor
Any time I do that we end up with 5/6 dps and get stuck playing deathmatch at the first choke for 5 minutes
Connor Williams
>If the ranknig systems matches you with people who are garbage, then you are garbage as well. but the game actively matches you with people below and above your level to keep you at a steady rate, not just the same
Bentley Reed
>they have to not be paying attention at all for that to work. you'd be surprised how often this happens they are playing engineer, after all
Josiah Torres
wrong
Nolan Jenkins
>not owrking with your team is. The two have been conflated to the point where it means the same thing
>Also how do you even program a game to know when to force you to switch? the game could lock characters based on what everyone else picks.
Ian Richardson
>Because one-tricking is not a bannable offense, Good, it shouldn't be >not owrking with your team is. And I'm not allowed to work with ym team with the character that I know how to play as? Where do you draw the line? What if I'm just bad at counter picking? Do I get banned for "not playing as a team"? Sounds to me it just means I'm bad player and my rank should be lowered. Not entirely banned.
>Also how do you even program a game to know when to force you to switch? Determine when your team composition is bad compared to the enemy. If the team compostion stays the same for X time, force re-picks. Easy.
Then that's a problem with the ranking system. Still choosing to play a single character should not be bannable offense just because there is a problem somewhere else.
Robert King
>Pyro >Soft counter to Spy
Really now?
Eli Johnson
nu-Sup Forums is literally worse than reddit.
Kayden Phillips
>Playing hero shooters/mobas
Kayden Turner
>soldier has no counters explain
Mason Moore
By that logic, are you saying that if I paired you with 5,no 4 even, other players who suck and lack awareness and are blantantly bringing the team down...
...you yourself can pull the team if you are a “better player”?
The answer is no. No you can’t.
Because a diamond player STILL can’t solo a game versus a full team of golds/plats. Comp is bullshit and NO a player isn’t stuck in that rank ONLY because of their own skill.
This game is based on praying a majority of your teammates aren’t fuck ups and cooperate,THEN perform.
Sebastian Scott
The people talking shit dont even play the game i guess, overwatch is full of fuckers like the losers who got banned, good riddance. Being a one trick is one thing, being "you either let me play torb or i will be afk in spawn :)))" is another, the retards that got banned were the second type of players.
Owen Harris
I'd rather have a person play one hero and play it really well to its fullest potential, than having someone switching every five minutes and being shit with all of them.
David Cook
>..you yourself can pull the team if you are a “better player”? Of course not
You are wrongly focusing on a single game. If by AVERAGE you are better than other people in your rank group, then you will climb. That's a fact. Looking at a single game and saying "yeah it's all fault of my teammates that I can't climb and make me lose" is just stupid. Both you and your opponents team will have retards playing in them. In the long run it all evens out and your capability to be better on average will determine your skill level.
Evan Brooks
I DO agree that gitt’n GUD is the way to go and you should 100% better yourself and your own performance.
But my point and your own seem not too far from each other, I’m saying that in Fightan vidya since it’s ONLY you, there’s Z E R O other variables to weigh you down. So getting better DIRECTLY effects results.
Unlike Overwatch.
Evan Sanchez
If you cant overcome a counter to your most played/favorite hero with raw skill then the game is garbage.
>it's still a 5v6 if he's being heavy countered.
except it isn't because they'll be busy countering him
Liam Perry
He can shit on any class in a 1v1 scenario, and do very well in other scenarios.
Aaron Thomas
The problem is not people one tricking and one tricking alone. Its actually people smurfing and then one tricking on top of it.
Its too fucking easy to smurf and then go into games, one trick and lose and not give a shit because "I'm on my smurf". Completely disregarding the rest of their team playing on their only account trying to win as hard as they can.
People being banned for one tricking is going to make the game worse, you will now see people being reported not just for one tricking but for "playing what I don't want you to play". Its fair enough to request a change if the person is being countered hard by the other team but what the fuck do you do if your playing Widow and the entire rest of the game pretty much counters you? Or attempting to play anything other than Junkrat and Roadhog against an Orisa/Bastion cheese combo.
Jack Taylor
>a 5v6 if he's being heavy countered. If someone's playing well enough that the enemy team is devoting multiple characters to counter him, doesn't that work out in your favor? Isn't the rest of your team freed up from that?
Jayden Morales
>smurfing i'm pretty sure you just made that up
Jason Sanchez
>season 5 >have 2 or 3 one trick Mercy mains on my team >They start fighting about who should have Mercy on the chat That shit happened a lot of times, the problem with one tricks is that they don't know nothing about other characters, and are totally shit. Usually are mercy mains or genji faggots.
Jeremiah Morgan
Is this your first competitive video game?
Sebastian Phillips
>Please swap they are counterpicking you >No why would I swap to counterpick them you're the problem here
Nathan Scott
fucking hate these reddit tier memes, seriously, no troll, what in the actual fuck is a motherfucking meta.
I play games because i enjoy them, i play vidya in a more focussed way than the normie ps3 gta 5 player, lets say, i like playing fps games alot, coming from hardcore quake.
Then again, WTF is a META fucking reddit buzzwords
Camden Diaz
So did they finally fix the fucked SR gain then? Because prior to this the game almost actively encouraged you to stick to one hero due to how SR gain worked.
Jackson Russell
>except it isn't because they'll be busy countering him
This is something everyone forgets. If a person on your team is getting countered by multiple characters on the opposing team, your allies get to counter them instead. Not to mention the recent Tobjorn one Trick who got banned was extremely high rank. Forgot his exact placement, but he was making his character work, because of his skill on the character and because this is a team game where your team can simply counter his counters.
Matthew Perez
Unless she has her ult, which she often does if the Mercy player is even remotely competent.
Lincoln Young
Well I guess they are special because they made it to GM that way.
Evan James
Thats primarily one of the problems though, once you get to that level people will try and make most comps work by building compositions around these cunts.
So you get people being forced into playing something they never wanted to in the first place in order to even have a chance of winning. The One Trick on the other hand gets to continue not giving a fuck because hes going to do the samething in every match either way.
Theres an Orisa one trick called Saltshaker in the top 500. Thats half to do with his skill with the character and half to do with making teams building around him.
Jaxon Stewart
Feels great having a versatile play style that allows me to switch heroes on the fly. All supports, some tanks, assaults and defenses. Never a single complaint about my picks, except for one tricks that want to play whatever I picked, at which point I just switch because I can. The issues lie when someone gets countered and doesn't switch to accommodate. In one of the earlier seasons I had a Mercy on my team who got annihilated by flankers we couldn't take care of. A reasonable player would switch to a different support or just ask others to replace him as he switched to a different role. This Mercy didn't switch, and she was pretty useless.
Justin Rogers
lmao if the team needs mercy it needs mercy and almost always does i've seen mercy players switch to lucio because they feel unprotected though.
Parker Long
It's not that they need to follow a strict guideline, they just have to be willing to do what the team needs to do to win.
Caleb Ward
>hey can you let me widowmaker
Samuel Scott
Meta is the underlying "rules" of a game they are there but they aren't written. In over watch, the meta is typically, 2 healers 2 dps 2 tanks. They call it a 2-2-2 composition. there is also 2-3-1 compositions as well. I don't really play quake but im sure on some maps there is a spot a certain weapon always spawns at. in the meta, maybe everyone rushes to that spot at the start of every game to secure that weapon as if it gives a good chance of winning.
Levi Myers
The metagame is the by the community currently agreed on "optimal way" to play a game.
Mason Wilson
they continually update it and add maps and such.
John King
Give me something else to play. Find me another competitive FPS with a similar level of polish and care that Overwatch does. Where I can get into a group with my friends and play easily and quickly. Also its not F2P.
Thanks user.
Cameron Moore
This is only for ranked though, right? You can still play whatever the hell you want in unranked, I hope.
Jackson Nelson
That's like saying you need to have skill level X in ranked to NOT get banned. Sounds stupid? It is stupid.
Connor Ward
You realize almost every pro player in overwatch has a "main" that they will play 90% of the time right?
Its actually really natural to sink a fuckton of time into one hero only. Flexers are casuals.
Matthew Powell
Every pro player can play multiple characters because the meta changed and they were forced to play whatever was considered over powered.
Also one of the best moment to moment players is a flex that can play pretty much whatever he wants.
Jackson Cox
>can only play one hero "choose to", actually. and it happens my choice is one that people are fine with. i hate the hypocrisy. if a character is so fucking inferior to the one i play that they have to ban people who play that character exclusively, as i play mine, the fault lies with the designer.
Isaac Parker
have you played Moira on ptr? she is twice as OP as mercy and I bet they won't even nerf her for release
Eli Ortiz
Not because they want to, but because they have to.
So many McFaggots cry about having to play a different DPS because he's trash.
Ian Collins
You seem stuck on this idea on looking at a single game. On average (meaning after many games), your teammates and their your opponents will be the same quality of player. So what determines whether or not your rank will project upwards/downwards/stay the same is if you yourself are better/worse/equal compared to the average quality of player at your rank.
Understanding how ranking systems work makes reading how plsyers are being suspended for plsying only one character confusing. If the guy was successful in playing his character, then he’ll reach a rank appropriate for how well he contributes to the team. If the meta changes and people get better at picking/playing against his character, then he will appropriately go down in rank.
Brody Morris
>>game based on counter picking Sounds like a shit game.
Landon Parker
>We're going to start banning one tricks >Support one tricks are guanteed to be exempt You KNOW this is going to be the case because they still fall within the forced meta. And this is coming from someone that mainly played support before dropping Overwatch.
Caleb Evans
It sounds good on paper, but in execution its no more than a thinly veiled excuse to ban players who don't play meta characters. I wish Jeff would stop being a spineless cunt that panders to the loud majority of competitive shitters who use their team mates as a scapegoat. I'm not touching this shit game until Jeff tells them to fuck off, because at this point I'll probably be banned anyway for playing characters I enjoy.
Jace Sanders
Why are they banning for not listening to your team when you can leave the team chat channels before the game even begins?
