In the midst of the new game's backlash, what do you guys think of the 2001 classic Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

Havent played much but I very much enjoy what little I've played
It was the shit. The multiplayer was improved in every single conceivable way when they released the standalone Enemy territory, for fucking free, might I add. Truely the golden years of gaming are behind us
>new game's backlash
I've seen mostly praise for it apart from some gameplay complaints. Except on Sup Forums, but of course this board is contaminated with Sup Forums fuckers so that's to be expected I guess.
The first stealth mission is shit, the second one is one of the best missions in the game.
Catacombs level is so good, the moment where a fire zombie emerges from a bonfire is so memorable.
I unironically believe Enemy Territory is still one of the best MP FPS. I wasted my childhood on it.
You don't know shit about custom maps and server mods unless you played ET at its peak.
The game is receiving pretty good praise outside your contrarian bubble.
Pretty good game that holds well today. The final boss fight however is one of the worst final bosses I had the displeasure to fight due how painfully easy it was.
I didn't say I didn't like the new game, I've put over 40 hours into the new Wolfenstein so far
best in the series.
if you dislike it. you're actually a faggot
I escaped the castle but I haven't played it since because I don't want to deal with that fucking stealth mission
The multiplayer is godlike
Why is it that so many people had problems with the first stealth mission? If I didn't have problems when I was 8 then you fuckers shouldn't be having problems now
I didn't enjoy the SP that much and the jumping electric supernazis gave me nightmares, but the multiplayer was a 9/10 easy and ET improved upon that.
Is this what you're talking about? This shit also gave me night-mares, I played this game around the time it came out and remember dreaming about this weird shit
The part with the open space is really badly designed, you don't have any indication of the AI visual detection range, there's no cover, sometimes they notice you killed the guy on the tower, sometimes they don't. It also took me some time to realize they actually press the button to sound the alarm and you don't just fail it because they noticed you.
I literally dropped my first attempt to play through the game because of that mission.
Yes, fuck those guys.
That's a damn shame that you dropped it that easily, it took me about 3-4 tried to sneak around the edge of the map. It was especially easy with quick-save
I finished it later. And then again, some time after that. When I first played it, I remember once reaching the tunnel, going into the side tunnel and then somebody sounded the alarm. I was so pissed at that particular part.
It's especially annoying since you get Snooper in the literally next location and it makes it all trivial.
Enemy Territory was fucking amazing. Competitive was also fun. I wonder why there's no games with objective based stopwatch gameplay nowadays.
GREAT
